  • whats a good mobo and ram to pair this with? was hoping to get the ryzen 9 version of this but this price is tempting.

  • +8

Has been significantly cheaper (~$230 AUD) on Aliexpress and may go on sale again for the 19 August sales.

  • +3

    It's been sub $230

  • 355 dolleridoos is a lot of money for a dead platform and a marginal upgrade for 1440p & above gaming. 200 right now and we're talking.

    • +2

Can't really call it a dead platform when AMD is still releasing CPUs for it. There is even a rumoured 6 core 5500X3D coming out.

  • +2

Overpaid on Aliexpress a few days ago still like $255 aud

  • +5

as others have pointed out, not even close to an ATL. Got it for $319 for a mate recently from ebay.

    • +1

      Atl for Amazon

      • +6

When people claim an ATL, it’s not in reference to a specific store, but all stores. Historically.

Also just received mine from AliExpress this week, paid $225, arrived in about 10 days and working perfectly. Definitely a worthwhile jump from my old r5 3600.

    • +1

Yeah, lots of people have these from Aliexpress (myself included) and I haven't heard of any issues. Plus, failure rates for these CPUs are so low, especially such a mature process. Warranty is basically a non-issue and Aliexpress is historically very good with DOAs.

Maybe a different story if this was a GPU, but I couldn't justify a 50% premium buying locally.
