We buying computer parts from AliExpress now? Are we sure they're legit?

    • +7

Yes for years, and yes but depends on seller.

    • yeah, most of the time, but sometime u need to wait for a few weeks for delivery

      • they are most likely legit, but also BOTTOM of the binning process

        • +1

Do you mind explaining what that means?

          • +2

            @abe465: Manufacturer binning process:
For older binning process of CPU, there are burnt pins set inside cpu die to control multiplier, cores and other features as one-off, hence no undo once burnt.

All the same series cpu with the same dies e.g.5600, 5600x, 5700, 5800, 5700x, 5800x same original die of 5800x.

            When it comes out to testing cpu, some can reach 95-100% (5800x), 81-94% (5700x), 71-80% (5800), 61-70% (5700) ..etc.

And that explain their performance are only handful of different in % while price is ratio to majority of burnt out % rate. If there is more success rate in top end the price should drop a lot, remember the era of 3600's that could denote as over 50% are in that range of overall production.

            Reseller Binning process:
Stress test or overclock test every single cpu and classify as Best, Good, Average… price them accordingly.

You missing out. You have been paying too much for too long my dude.

    • I wouldn't count on it being legit lol.

  • +1

Shows up as AU$246.85 with AU$23.53 tax for me?

    • -1

Use the coupon and keep it in USD. Came out to be $215.xx for me with a 28 degrees card via PayPal earlier today

      • +1

Hmm, still looking at a total of US $161.52 inc tax $15.41, with the -$8 coupon…

        • Have you logged in and at checkout?

      • Is there a reason to use paypal and not just the credit card?

        • No it was just the first option and my card was already linked

    • Same for me

  • No reason to buy this at this price. I got mine for $215 last month. Just wait.

    • +2

To save $6? Cup of coffee only. :D

      • +4

If you're the type of person who is paying $6 for your coffee then you don't need to wait I guess.

        • Who's paying LESS than $6 for a coffee. Crazy prices nowadays

          • -1

@JDearyMe: Less than a dollar per cup for me since i drink cheap homemade coffee, gotta save that money

            • +1

@s1Lence: Agreed, cost of living is too high. Even at a Servo we're rarely paying more than $3.50 for a jumbo coffee - I think the current 7/11 throws in a pie for an extra $1.50.
$6 for a coffee is crazy talk

          • @JDearyMe: Was just about to say lol. $6 is quite the norm, unfortunately.

            • @starburstyellow: I feel it's just a matter of shopping around but maybe people feel its something about the quality.

My wife would tell me that, on special, $70 is a bargain for shoes a 2yo will grow out of in 12 weeks. I'd pay $6 getting them from Big-W or 2nd-hand from FB buy&sell. We both thought the other was crazy.

              • @Ebany: Yes perhaps. I don't normally get w 7/11 coffee either so just going by what the standard rate of a coffee shop. Don't get me started on an avocado toastie!

    • -3

Yeah obsolete platform, it's not worth it paying more than 150-200 at this point for a small bump in realistic fps.

      • +1

That depends on your use case and your wallet.
Depending on what GPU you've got in your current AM4 system, you can get ranging between decent and magnificent improvements.
        This webpage uses a 6950XT and a 6600XT to compare a 5800X3D against a 5600 and a 3600:
        https://www.techspot.com/review/2502-upgrade-ryzen-3600-to-5…

The 5800X3D is 5-10% faster than a 5700X3D, so that gives you a decent impression for a suite of games (CSGO, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Cyberpunk2077, Dying Light 2, F1 2021, Far Cry 6, Forza Horizon 5, Hitman 3, etc).
In short, with GPU-bound games you won't see big (if any) improvements, e.g. Dying Light 2.
F1 2021 likes both a fast CPU and a fast GPU, here it goes from 228 (Ryzen 3600) to 481fps (5800X3D) when using a 6950XT, meaning that with a 5700X3D you would double your fps.

So if you've got a GPU which still has some life in it, an older AM4 CPU on a decent motherboard, you play CPU-bound games, and you don't want to invest a grand (or more) on a new gaming rig, then this 5700X3D is an easy and cheap way to produce a noticeable improvement on your gaming experience.

Everyone's getting lucky but me. I got mine from CPUZ store and it broke after 3 weeks use. I'm seeing how the return is

    • -4

buy both the Amazon one and this one, keep the Amazon on and return the AliExpress one to Amazon

      • Would amazon try to match serial numbers? I suppose you could always claim it arrived with them mismatched

      • +3

Would be a shame for you to buy from Amazon and end up with someone's AliExpress return wouldn't it…

  • Curious if this is much of an upgrade from the 3600 Ryzen 5?

Would I be better off attempting to get the 5800X3D?

    • What cooling you using? Remember these are 105 tdp CPUs.

I've personally jumped to this deal from a 3800x to 5700x3d. I game in 2K and got at least a 15-20% bump. For transparency using a 3080.

      • Hi fellas
        I am using a B450 tomahawk max
        2080 Super EVGA
        32gig ram
        Ryzen 3600 CPU

    • Depends your GPU, resolution, graphics settings. Ie, If your GPU isn’t running near 95%-99% utilities, upgrading to this from 3600 will be big upgrade. Otherwise, just few percentage, as 5700x3d has similar performance to 7500f and 7600 from AM5. Without new DDR5 RAM and AM5 m/b saved quite a lot of money as you already has DDR4 RAM and AM4 m/b which compatible to 5700x3d. I believe 5700x3d can drive upto 4070ti super or 7900xt most games in 1440p without bottlenecks, while 3600 probably 6700xt or 3070 ect in 1440p.

      • Hi fellas

        • If you aren't upgrading the GPU, i think the improvement isn't big, especially at 1440p or above.

  • Thanks OP, been on fence last few days after seeing orig post but this is a good price point. Usually i just upgrade a full system each time but loving the longevity of the AMD platform.

  • is this an upgrade worth from Processor AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 6-Core Processor, 4701 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)

gaming with 4080 2K wide screen

    • +1

The 7600x is an AM5 platform, this is on AM4.

    • +1

As above, you probably don't want to swap back to AM4 5700x3d even for free, as they are similar performance but without upgrade newer Ryzen 9000s option.

      • +1

So in summary stick with the 5700X3d until I am ready to move away from the AM4 motherboards?

        • 7600x is better than 5700x3d, even their gaming performance is similar. 7600x on AM5 which has upgraded options in the future. 5700x3d on AM4 which is a dead and old platform. 5700x3d only worth if you already on AM4 platform with older gen CPU, ie 2600, 3600

  • I decided to order mine from amazon prime $300 delivered from US. I've been told that these CPUs from Aliexpress come without original packaging (you can see from the photos) and have likely been abused in data farms prior to being resold on aliexpress. for my peace of mind, I'm more than happy to pay $300 from Amazon knowing that anywhere else will charge $350 or more for a brand new device in the box. Just my 2 cents

  • Good price but I've got a 3900X so I either need a 5800x3d or it's waiting for the next gen of CPU's to arrive (or current prices to drop). That said I do keep coming back to browse at Nebula's BYO deals

    • Why do you need a 5800X3D? I understand wanting next gen but the 5700X3D is basically the same chip, slightly slower stock and won't even notice without looking at numbers but can easily get it close with some slight tweaks.
