    15.6" @ FHD :(

    • Absolutely, perfectly, fine. It's about 150 ppi and that's well decent.

Low brightness, or crappy colour space, is valid to complain about, but FHD at 15" is great.

yup came here to say this. 100% sRGB at least.

  • My son has been through two of an earlier iteration of the X360 (13") as a school laptop (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/670211). First was claimed on house insurance.

Aluminium shell was super thin, dings effortlessly; touch screen is glass, easily cracked and $$$ to replace.

I don't really have any preference for these devices. HP is a pretty shady company too…but this isn't a rugged device at all. Personally I'd be buying a cheaper plastic/polycarbonate shell laptop instead of this for school.

      Aluminium shell was super thin, dings effortlessly;

It's a thin and lightweight device. It's not designed to be knocked.

      touch screen is glass,
Do they even make plastic touch screens any more? And the issue with plastic is then it becomes very easy to crack the display itself.

      • Yeah definitely learnt my lesson - on original criteria of price, weight seemed like a good idea. Stupidly assumed a metal body counted for more than aesthetics, but unless it's machined like a Macbook, you are better off with plastic, every time. The combo of thin bezels, thin shell and glass was, in retrospect, asking for trouble.

Subsequent school machines will either be a second hand T-series or E-series Lenovo. A deal like this (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/861505) would have been more appropriate.

    • $650 to replace the screen on my $850 ish hp lapotp lmao

Ended up buying a $150 fhd screen of ebay which a friend replaced xd

Stoopid ass Harvey Norman product care n replacement my dad wasted $150 on as well as it doesn't cover shit

  • Note that there hasn’t been reported failures on U series chips yet. They are a different die and have different microcode. Personally think that you’ll be safe with the 1335u but the opposite argument is also understandable.

    • The defects are limited to 65w and above, so doesn't apply to the U series.

      • Actually that statement can't rule out mobile CPUs, the specs say boost can be high as 118W for the i7.

  • I want a refurb 15+ inch OLED 2in1 as cheap as possible if anyone has any ideas where to look.

  • Is there a way to upgrade things in this like RAM and SSD from HP?
