[PreOrder] Google Pixel 9 Pro XL 256GB $299 Upfront (after $1697 off) on Optus $69/M 24M Plan (in-Store Only) @ Harvey Norman

410

*****Customers who cancel this plan within 120 days of activation will need to pay back the base value of the Harvey Norman gift card or the value of the device discount they received. Plus, if you cancel your plan, you’ll also have to pay any remaining payments for your device in full if you have chosen a repayment option, plus all charges incurred up until the date of cancellation.****

Looks like they are forcing us to use the plan for 4 months, which kinda reduces the appeal of the deal as it was last time. looks like:

$69x4 =$276
upfront=$299
canx =$690($69*20/2)

Total: $1265 for the 256GB or $1116 for 128GB.

Is it still a great deal?
i still think it is a good deal.

Hey mate, currently with optus. Is there a certain amount of time I would have to port out for prior to returning to get this deal?

      • yeah same question here @HardlyNormal

      • nope

      • Just helped a friend get this deal with HN. He was on Optus Postpaid without any contract, we were advised by HN to simply call Optus and move his number to a Prepaid service, with Optus still. This was done within 15 minutes, and prepaid service activated all within that same time.

After Prepaid activation, went back to HN and signed up for the deal. They simply upgraded the Prepaid service to the $69 GC plan and received the $1700 discount on P9PXL ☺️

    • So whats the go with pre ordering? Do we go in before the phone is launched and sign up, or do we wait until launch day to head in and tee it all up?
Also I'm assuming the gift card cant be used to offset the up front cost?

      • you go in now and sign up so you have an allocation, get called once phone is released.

    • +1

Does $100 gift voucher apply? I thought I registered but haven't got the email. Anyway I can be eligible?

      • it should

        • Would I be able to get this by just mentioning this? If I don't have the email?

    • Can you confirm you can pay the difference to upgrade storage?

      • yes

    • Hi, If you signed up previous year to this plan through Harvey Norman for the Pixel 8 Pro and still on it can I just go to store and upgrade to this plan? or do I need to cancel my current contract?

      • these HN Optus plans are only available to numbers not currently on Optus postpaid and if you left your current $69 plan you have to pay cancellation fee of $414~ if its been 12 months.

  • Does anyone have an idea about whether this sort of deal is likely to be available for the pixel 9 pro (non xl) when that is released

    • most likely

      • When the pro is going to release?

        • +1

          October

          • @HardlyNormal: Can we take the giftcard now and use it to get pixel 9 pro?

            • @zeoko: what giftcard?

              • @HardlyNormal: Sorry I meant, when we sign up for the deal we get the HN gift card. Can that be used for pixel 9 pro instead?

                • +1

@zeoko: you can choose $500 gift card on $69 plan however i would strongly consider waiting as we probably would have a deal for the pixel 9 pro.

  • Not seeing the deal via link, can't find it on the website. Anybody have a link to the deal?

    • we usually dont have links as this offer is advertised in store only.

  • +1

Offers are as follows for the $69 plan w/ 100GB Data and Unlimited National Calls/Text
    $0 Pixel 9 128gb + $250 Gift Card
    $149 Pixel 9 Pro XL 128gb
    $999 Pixel 9 Pro Fold 256gb + 12 Months Mobile Freedom
Mobile Freedom is essentially Samsung Care Plus run by Asurion but has a exclusive 3rd option called Upgrade where you can pay $299 to Asurion and Upgrade INSTANTLY to the next model up when it releases regardless of the condition the phone is in. Judging by Pixel trade in values this may be useful to some.

    • Does this mean the $250 gift card is included with the Pixel 9 deal but the $350 gift card that shows online with the Pixel 9 Pro XL is excluded when signing up for the Optus deal?

      • +1

$350 GC with pixel is only on the $99 plan and not on the fold.

        • Is there a $250 gift card on the Pixel 9 Pro XL? Or only for Pixel 9?

          • @slickvic: $250 for pixel 9, $350 for pixel 9 XL but gift card not applicable with optus plan.

    • How do I get the Pixel 9 Pro XL 256gb for $300?

      • $69 plan, pay $300 for phone outright.

    • I cannot find any more details about the Mobile Freedom in HN Page. Can you help?
Also, can we do trade in and this plan both together in HN?

Mobile Freedom is exactly the same as Samsung Care Plus but with useful upgrade option.

you can trade in and plan but cannot stack with the $1000 bonus trade in credit for fold.

        • Thanks for the info. I cannot find anywhere in the website that mobile freedom coming in free for fold. Is this in store only thing??

          "$999 Pixel 9 Pro Fold 256gb + 12 Months Mobile Freedom"

        • @Hardly Normal, have you used their services before?
Definitely interested in this potential upgrade path as it's rumored tensor will make the switch to tsmc next generation.
Had a look at Asurion and their reviews seem to be pretty terrible, in saying that I know people are less likely to post about a good experience they have had.
          Thanks!

          • @Lofty248: the screen replacement and swap abilities are handled between customer and asurion, however an upgrade is done instantly in store and requires no contact with asurion whatsoever and an upgrade is possible REGARDLESS of the condition of the device, you couldve driven over it and you can upgrade.

            • @HardlyNormal: Amazing, I think that's going to seal the deal for me on the JB vs HN plans, gonna head to my local tomorrow!

    • Hi, is there any new deal on Pixel 9 Pro Fold from today?

  • +3

keep in mind for everyone, theres no point in cancelling at all if you’re currently paying more than $28 per month for your SIM.

    • But what if I don't want an Optus SIM? What if I, perchance, like almost 50% off a new phone?

      • im just saying based on cost, if you live in an area that optus works and you’re paying more than $28 a month, it’ll be worth to stay on the $69 plan especially considering the 3-5$ price increase on telcos every year.

        • -2

Fair enough, I just find Optus unacceptably meh, and I live near Brisbane CBD. Notable also that the $3-5 increases apply to Optus as well.

          • @dongltron: Plan increases don't affect these 'Gift Card' plans. You're guaranteed to be paying $69 per month for 24 months.
On the flip side, you also can't get any discounts because it's a gift card plan.

  • So, just to be clear, the total cost breakdown for the Pixel 9 Pro XL 128GB will be:
$149 upfront fee (I don't actually know where you got this, the link you supplied to somebody else doesn't show it for me)
    $276 ($69 x 4) Optus plan cost
    $690 cancellation fee
    That's a total cost of $1115.

    Is that correct?

    • yes.

      • Can you provide a link to where it says $149? No word in the CIS about an upfront cost…

    • Turning off adblocker worked for me to show 149 upfront ad.

  • Can I get this if im already with optus?

    • if prepaid, yes.
if postpaid, must get new number.

      • so move to another provider now and come back?

        • You can just switch to Optus prepaid and back.

  • How does Gerry know if I cancel with Optus? It says we need to pay back the gift card.

    • you pay it back to optus as they are funding it all.

      • Can we include international call for $10 top of this plan ?

        • yes. $10 gives unlimited int calls to 35 countries or $10 for 300 to a selected zone 2 country

  • Anyone has this deal? Does the monthly bill show only plan charge $69 or does it show the device as well?

    • Just the 69 plan

      • Sorry for being padentic but is the full $69 appears against the plan? Or is it broken down between Plan and device?

        • This is a SIM only plan with gift card but as a promotion they replacing gift card with device. On Optus account, it's a just a SIM only plan.

  • Has anyone actually got this deal

  • So I assume that the Optus Deal does not work with the trade in bonus deal, has that been confirmed 100%?

    • yes

  • I signed up today. I am with Optus on $69 plan (from Pixel 8 pro deal from HN) with 13 months remaining. Optus account shows cancellation cost as $448.

Ported out to vodaphone using $2 sim , took 5 min to activate the new connection , drove to HN castelhill , it took almost an hour.. yes it was long as he had to call optus to fix some ID verification as the optus retail portal had some issues. Got a new Optus sim activated and ordered P9PXL 256G hazel for $299.

Placed a trade-in order with mobile monster for my P8Pro for $600. which will cover the optus cancellation cost + and $150 towards P9PXL. Out of pocket is $150.

  • So I just called my local HN and asked if these deals are availble for Telstra customers to port over to Optus, and I was told no, these deals are only available for brand new services, on new numbers. Can anyone confirm this? @HardlyNormal @Harvey Norman

    • +2

sick of noob salespeople fudging info…
of course you can port from telstra to optus, just current optus postpaid sims arent eligible

  • What's the chances that the next device is out within the 12 Months Mobile Freedom cover period for getting an upgrade🤔

    • +1

This one came out early, I would be very careful about making that decision. Could easily become the new norm. Could easily not…

    • if the next gen device comes out more than 12 months later asurion will honour it.

      • Is it asurion or the Harvey norman that decides? I wouldn't trust asurion, but my local HN are pretty nice people 😅

      • hey do you know where they mention they will honor it? if this is the case definetly considering the 12 Months Mobile Freedom cover

        • +1

its asurion that decide however this is confirmation from our asurion representative. if i buy an iphone 15 in september with freedom and the 16 doesnt come out for 15 months or theres a backorder, asurion will honour anything like that. just not screen or swap abilities.

          • @HardlyNormal: so if we go for this deal, we get a "free" upgrade from google pixel 9 pro fold to a google pixel pro 10 fold for $299 through asurion?

            • @shmahoo: yes and you don’t need to deal with asurion, just come in store and staff will do a swap on the spot.

  • After a bit of a painful two hour long process at Fortitude Valley HN (the guy was new and nobody was really able to help him, it's fine), I'm all signed up. Quick thing to note. This offer is seemingly only available for the Obsidian colourway of the phone. All the other ones were unavailable on their system. Not sure why, very strange. I did want Hazel, but Obsidian would have been my second choice, so I'll deal with it.

    Thanks for posting!

Edit: After looking in the MyOptus app, the cancellation fee is $793.80, apparently. Anybody else signed up and noticed the same thing? Going to confirm with Optus Support tomorrow that the figure is, indeed, correct. If so, I will be receiving the phone and cancelling immediately. That takes my total out of pocket cost to $942.80. Lucky me, I guess?

    • definitely don't do that lol

"Customers who cancel this plan within 120 days of activation will need to pay back the base value of the Harvey Norman gift card or the value of the device discount they received"

the valley hn slow? thinking of going to everton park tmr instead then

      • My question is, is there an error or something occurring here that means that DOESN'T apply?

Valley HN was slow because they didn't have the manager who knows his stuff or enough people to help out the new fella. Not necessarily gonna be slow today, he said it would be much faster because you'll be dealing with the manager. I'd go today if you were planning on going to the Valley

        • Hey mate, I just went to the valley hn and yeah was like 30 minutes guy knew what he was doing he literally was on the same deal for the pixel 8. About the cancellation terms I asked him about it aswell and he said at their specific store the 120 days DIDNT apply for some reason. Idk if I would be inclined to trust it tho might be safer to just wait the 4 months (that's what I'm doing).

          • @avinab: yeah just wait 4 months, not sure why they think that their store is excluded from that.

    • Hazel comes with 256G only , not 128. Obsedian was only option for 128G.

Yes , cancellation fee shows as 793 for me as well. but i plan to keep it atleast for an year.

      • Aw, that's a shame. Oh well.

    • other colours are definitely available i signed up a customer for hazel last night

      • In 128GB? 256GB, yes. For 128GB however, only Obsidian was available on my saleserson's system.

  • -1

There's no way of them knowing of the GC

    • What do you mean by this

    • its the base gift card value. optus will know that you cancel within 120 days and charge your cancellation extra $500 on $69 plan.

      • -1

        I highly doubt that

        • Just spoke with an Optus rep, they said the same thing.

        • give it a go then

      • I checked the terms and conditions from optus , cancellation fee is 828. Optus app shows cost to cancel is 793. I havent see any terms on the 120 days .

        • There are definitely terms for if you cancel before 120 days. Check the CIS via HN. The rep posted a link to them somewhere in this thread.
