If you think that's bad, I brought a folded car for a trade in and the dealership wouldn't accept it!
Haha that's good! Prices these days are crazy but to be fair, Apple charge that for some iPhones and they're just iterative improvements instead of a newer form factor
I feel better paying those kind of prices for something innovative vs just 'the best iPhone we've ever made.'
One of the better folding form factors out there. Shame the chip isn’t all that much improved.
Too heavy compare other similar size foldable photos.
What sort of paper are you printing these foldable photos on?
Harvey has $1000 trade in credit https://www.harveynorman.com.au/google-pixel-9-pro-fold-256g…
The trade in is not limited to specific brand/model, you can trade in any generic device for $1 (select "Other").Gotta deal with Asurion as well, and trade in values seem to be lower compared to JB. For instance Z Fold 5 at JB $900 vs $729
I'll never deal with anything Asurion again even if the deal is amazing. 2 times I've used them and 2 times they have majorly (profanity) up.
why? what went wrong dealing with them?
@0zyt0zy: In 1 case they lost my trade in. In the other case my trade in never got processed. They had my phone and it was stuck as pending for months.
This would all be OK if you could actually contact the company. You can't. No phone number and no email address. Not even Samsung Support can contact them beyond creating a ticket in their system lol
I compare s21 trade in, it looks like Asurion is much higher than JB. Is that bad with Asurion trade in?
Am I reading correctly that you get a $1000 voucher AFTER purchase? Not able to take $1000 off the purchase price?
stiackable with this???
$999 up-front cost when you pre-order a Pixel 9 Pro Fold 256GB on an Optus $69 plan for 24m?
TYPO? $2699 discount

Offer available in store only until 18th August 2024.@Martyroz: If it is a full discount on the product on the $69 plan you could stay for the 4 months ($276) and then pay the cancellation fee $690 which means you'd get the device for $966? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
@playaz91: They have fixed it - it now says $1700 discount.
@Martyroz: Isn't it illegal to just change T&C's on the fly like that?
@Martyroz: Still if you can stack with the $1000 you could get the device for $0 and follow the above?
Am I reading correctly that you get a $1000 voucher AFTER purchase? Not able to take $1000 off the purchase price?
The promo banner does say "trade in and get credit towards your new Google 9…"
Hey was wondering if Harvey Norman (Asurion) do trade in for phones not listed on their website? Like I have old Huawei Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro but they have only listed P30 and P30 Pro on their trade in website but they have an option to select "Other" with a message to get up to $1*. Has anyone done trade in of an phone model not directed listed by HN? And can we only trade in phones or any other item in the category to get $1000 trade in bonus towards Pixel 9 Fold? Thanks.
I just did exactly that this afternoon.
Traded iPhone 6 for $1 via their trade in portal.Went into HN and got the $1000 plus $1 discount off the fold.
@Roadie999 Thanks for the update. So you have to go to the store to do the trade in which comes under "Others" category? And is there any criteria or a certain cutoff year for the phones to be accepted for trade in like iPhones can go as back as original iPhone 1?
@alphawolf: Yeah I just chose OTHER
Not sure what the criteria is but I recall it only asked for an ImEI but no actual phone modelI did the trade online and then obtained a code which I redeemed in store to complete preorder.
@Roadie999: I visited Harvey Norman website but could not find this promotion of $1000 voucher. Can I have the link?
@Alz03: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/trade-in-promo
You’ll see the graphic for it
@Roadie999: thank you!
how could I miss that haha
Guys do car dealerships accept foldable phones for tradein?
You need to update your post. JB just match Hardly Normal's trade in bonus to $1000.
Can this stack with the $1800 off when you get the $99 telstra plan?
Unfortunately no, from the conditions.
If the trade-in device isn't sent in, does that get charged back to your credit card? E.g., a S10 gives $1 trade-in value and $1,000 off the Pixel Fold, and not sending it in means you're charged just $1 and not $1,001?
Correct - you'll just be charged the amount your phone trade in was worth, not the value of the bonus trade in voucher
This seems too good to be true. So you can just get $1000 trade in bonus by initiating a trade in and then not sending the device? Like I have old Huawei not listed on their website as trade in option and was thinking how to get the trade in bonus some how.
Yep but there is usually a $50 or $60 non return fee if you don't send the phone. Plus you'd forfeit the value of the phone which you pre-authorise when you do the trade in online.
Ie. I just did mine with an old iPhone 6S. Valued at $1. So they charged my card for $1 and if I send the phone, they'll refund that $1. If I don't, they keep it and charge me a $50 non return fee.
The $1000 bonus coupon though? No difference whether you send the phone or don't
@User889344: I just got charged $60 for not returning with Samsung trade in deal
Is JB Mobile a full Telstra service, or just another that "uses the Telstra network" like Woollies Mobile? Currently with the latter and have a lot of coverage issues.
Full Telstra.
I cannot get the JB trade in ID verification to work. I have gone through with different browsers on my PC and directly on my phone, and after uploading my ID pic/details and clicking to the next step, I get a blank pop-up and have to restart the process. Anyone else?
yep this happened to me too. I got my wife to do it for me using her ID and worked right away. She's never used ti before whilst I'd used JB trade up a few times. Given mine didn't work and hers did, I wondered if the fact I hadn't sent a few phones and just opted to pay the non return fee impacted me
I've done the same in the past once so maybe
Whn iam trying to capture my id, my phones camera is displaying black screen ( iphone). Not letting me to take pic.
How is this handled if you later return the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, unopened? I'm assuming you forfeit the $1000 voucher?
Yeah they would just refund you for what you paid for the balance after the $1000 voucher. Ie. Lets say you paid $1698 for the phone on your credit card and the rest was paid using the $1000 voucher, they'll refund you the $1698 to your card but the $1000 voucher is like it didn't exist
If we avail that voucher, what does the invoice list that as? Gift card?
Wondering if the whole amount would be considered if I were to salary sacrifice for this.Interested to know this also
What if I took in 2 phones for trade in, would that give me a $2,000 voucher, or 2 x $1,000 vouchers to use on 2 seperate Pixel Folds?
Only one way to try! I think I've got some $1 devices floating around.
I tried, I traded my old iPhone 5 for $1,001 - wow! They would only accept 1 trade per Fold, but no limit on how many Folds you could do it with. Pretty sweet deal!
Safe to assume that the trade in coupon also only works on a cart that includes the Fold? :)
Does anyone know how this would look on the Tax invoice after say $800 trade in + $1000 voucher? would it actually show e.g. $2859 for the fold, -$1000 voucher, -$800 trade in - $whatever is left paid with credit card?
Asking for TRS purposes.
Mine has the phone as the only line item on the invoice, and then there is a line through the price of $2697 and in green underneath it says 'Telco trade in offer $1000 off' and then under the $2697 which is crossed out, it says $1697
Thanks Jay!! Umm, I wonder then would the TRS pull up on the 2697 or 1697 for tax refund!
Its usually the amount paid in total regardless of if paid with gift cards, vouchers etc. However, in this case, JB receipt makes it look like the product was discounted by $1000 rather than that you paid partically with $1000 credit.
My guess would be in that instance, they'd take the $1697 as the amount as JB lists that as the price of the product you paid
I'm guessing for JB they do that, as then they can claim for tax purposes they sold you a product for $1697 rather than selling you a product for $2697 which you partially paid with a $1000 voucher
how does the trade in work, do you send in your old phone after receiving the new phone?
Yep, pretty much.
When you complete the checkout process for the trade-in, they'll send you three emails - one with the gift card for the trade-in value, one with the coupon code for the additional $1000 discount, and one with with an AusPost return label so that you can package and return your trade-in device. They'll also issue a pre-authorisation hold for the trade-in value on your credit card.
With pre-orders, the deadline for returning the trade-in device is usually around 7 days after the new device is released. If the device isn't returned, then the pre-authorisation hold value is charged to your credit card.
No, they took mine off me in-store, printed the postage return slip and offered to send it off for me. I got $1,000 off right away and paid there and then. Just have to pick it up from the store when they call.
Ah, the process may well be different if you're purchasing in-store. Apologies, I've usually done it all online in the past.
Does JB/Squaretrade charge a non-return fee like Asurion does?
I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread - it's about $50-60 taken from the pre-authorisation hold if you don't return the phone
It was mentioned, but with no source. I have looked through the Ts and Cs and can't see it, would be grateful if someone could point it out!
I did a trade-in deal for the Pixel 8 recently. I just emailed them to say I no longer wanted to trade in my device which they acknowledged. No fee charged.
No pre-auth gets taken out. Credit gets issued right away via email and they charge the card on file when they don’t receive the old handset back. Last time, my card got charge around ~ 21 days after new handset pick up.
Anyone seen these on display in JB or elsewhere yet?
Yeah want to physically examine before committing
No. I've gone to a few JBs and Optus/Telstra/Vodas to try see if one is on display, but only the Pixel 9 has been, likely because the 9 Pro XL and 9 Fold Pro release later
They're on display at JB Gepps Cross (SA)
Saw them today @ chadstone jb hifi, telstra stores
Awesome - maybe I need to get outta the suburbs and into the CBD stores. LOL
What did you think of the Fold?
@User889344: First impressions it looks exactly like what the reviewers say in the initial vids - the front screen is an pixel 9 on top
Was more interested in the general weight and feel in hand but was quite tricky given the phones are secured to the tables and it’s hard to lift them
@MrMoist: Thx mate. Appreciate that. The main thing that always annoyed me with the Samsung foldables was that I HATED that narrow outer screen. This is the main thing I wanted fixed and Google seem to have done it
Yeah always hard to assess in hand with those security devices at JB
@User889344: Yeah definitely pixel fold over z fold 6 if you want a wider outer screen. It feels like a regular phone outside and I don’t think (for myself personally) I would use the inner screen other than for media consumption tbh. Outer screen is perfect for what you’d normally be doing on a phone nowadays.
Still sitting on the fence regarding this one but the $1,000 trade in bonus sweetens the deal somewhat since we all know pixel devices will be heavily discounted in the future..
@MrMoist: Yeah for sure. When I had the Fold 4 and 5, both times I found myself only using the inner display for media consumption as you said. So then the rest of the time, I was using this narrow screen which I really hated, and ended up thinking well if I'm using the narrow screen which I don't like most of the time anyway, what is the point?
Now I think I will enjoy using the outer screen as its basically a normal Pixel 9 Pro then will unfold for media.
Yeah I hear ya - I think all the sweeteners at the moment will make now the time even if they drop the prices at various points over the next 12 months. As an example, I got $1000 off with JB trading in a piece of crap iPhone 8 for $1 (I won't actually send it), but that brought my price down from:
$2697 (phone cost) - $1000 (JB coupon) - $800 (sold my Pixel 8 Pro on Marketplace yday) = $897
I thought that was pretty decent for upgrading to a phone that is both a next generation model + a whole different and much more expensive form factor
@User889344: Nice deal. I might take this offer. Then I am overseas soon so TRS refund on gst
Great thanks all I'll check a couple of JBs this weekend! Definitely keen to see it in person first but need to upgrade my Surface Duo 2 so will be a good improvement.
just tried to sign up in store and was told I couldn't use the $1000 bonus "trade in" in store credit when signing up with the optus plan… is this correct? I went through the trade in process and only got 1 email with a "trade ID" code…
This is correct, tried to do the same and 2 stores confirmed you can't use both.
Going on a plan is different to buying outright.
That make sense.. thanks for the clarification
Kind of misleading, I tried the same as the Optus policy says you receive a gift card towards the purchase of the phone. But then it also says not valid with any other offer. JB and the Telstra $99 plan lets you do this, with the $350 gift card, $350 trade in bonus and the $1,700 towards the phone.
https://www.harveynorman.com.au/optus-byo#pixel
This is the best deal in Australia and it ends today. I've crunched all the numbers for every single offer, from every provider and reseller. This is the cheapest deal by far, by about $1000.
It's so good, Optus refused to match it for me.- $999 upfront for the phone outright IN-STORE + $69 dollar plan for 24 months. ZERO handset repayments. $1700 discount.
Total cost over the two years = $2,655.
This is the only Fold deal in Australia, where the deal is literally cheaper than the phone itself.
Pixel Pro XL has a similar offer on the same page.
$146 upfront for the phone, outright. ZERO handset repayments. $69 plan for 24 months.JB/Optus/Voda/Telstra deals are all garbage in comparison. Run guys. Deal ends today, lol.
@wlbj23: Hang on isn't the JB trade in deal better?
$1000 trade in credit on pretty much any device, means $2697 - $1000 = $1697 up front no additional cost.
Match that with a cheap plan (Belong $21/month x 24) = $504
Total = $2201 over 24 months.
@playaz91: Even better with a 12 month plan. My amaysim has cost me $60 the first 2 years, 90 this year. Still have 120gb of data in the bank…
- $999 upfront for the phone outright IN-STORE + $69 dollar plan for 24 months. ZERO handset repayments. $1700 discount.
Held one pixel 9 pro fold in person at a local jbhifi but it wasn’t on display, they brought it from the back. Google rep said they were having issues with alarms and charging the devices on demo desks. Felt slightly heavier than Fold 6 but much better to use the outer screen. Not a big fan of asymmetrical screen (fold 6 is rectangle) and haven’t seen Tensor G4 performance benchmarks yet so a bit skeptical.
I had my first hold in person today too and loved it. Screen looks amazing. That increased brightness is paying dividends. Furthermore, I HATED the narrower screen on the Samsung foldables previously and loved that with the Pixel Fold Pro, it was like I had a Pixel 9 Pro on the front, then could just unfold it to use a tablet basically. Loved it.
As always, all personal preference I guess :)
the store i went to had same issues. holding it on its own you can definitely notice its weight (havnt had any fold phones before) but it also feels preimum and the aspect ratio of the outer screen is way better imo. biggest issue with the first pixel fold was battery issues but unfortunately we wont really get info on its real life battery performance since this is a pre-order.
Looks like square trade down at the moment
Can we cancel the plans from JB HIFi after using for few months ? Will there be issues in future or not?
This deal is for outright purchase, if you go on a plan you can cancel with fees.
How does the canceling fees work. I did cancel the service from JB HI Fi 3 years ago, I didn't pay anything apart from few months fees. So not sure how the thing is now ?
If you sign up on a contract you have to fulfill that contract.
If you cancel before the end of the contract there is a fee based on the contract and will be different depending on which plan you are on.
Let's say I sign up plan $99 for 24 months and canel my plan after 3 months . How they will calculate the early termination fees. Have you experienced this before?
I would like to have a Google pixel 9pro XL.you're looking for this deal mate
Thanks mate. I am definitely gonna do that . Let's see.
Yesterday I traded in my Pixel 3a towards a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Harvey Norman had a deal that was ending yesterday, 1000$ bonus towards a preorder of a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, so it was pretty easy to be honest, it was mostly online to set up the device that you want to trade, my Pixel 3a only got 1$, but with the added $1000, I saved lot, got the device for only $1697, the height of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold closed is fantastic, just like a Pixel 3a, in height.
Originally I was going to go to JB Hi-Fi and trade in my pixel 8 Pro and use that towards buying the pixel 9 pro fold ,But instead I got a better deal with a device, that's years older. The Pixel 8 pro will be handed down to my partner, she's still on a Pixel 6, so it's a win win! 😂
Yeah definitely a good idea to use the oldest phone possible that Trade in accepts. My brother was just about to trade in his Pixel 8 Pro with JB offering $450 or so and he was doing it just to get the $1000 bonus trade in. Told him instead to trade in the old iPhone 8 he had in his drawer that was worth $1 and get the $1000 for that instead. You then just sell the Pixel 8 Pro on Marketplace for more than the $450 that was being offered for trade in OR give it to a partner or child as you did :)
Especially as the Pixel 8 Pro is still an outstanding smartphone, it's just to tall for me, Google Store was offering $1000 trade in value towards the Pixel 9 Pro Fold also, which is fantastic, however you cannot beat that Harvey Norman deal, a friend of mine traded in a old Nokia, 1$, but with the bonus $1000 😂
Absolutely. Those trade in details are best for customers when we get a good 'bonus trade in' on top of a trade in for a nearly worthless old phone. Out of interest - what made you go Harvey Norman instead of JB Hi Fi given both are offering $1000 bonus?
Especially since dealing with HN trade in partner had been a disaster for me and many others here too.
They will mark your device as non-functional and pay you less than trade in price or say they haven't received it and charge you non-receipt fee.
Yeah my reason for asking is just as most people much prefer JB to Harvey Norman, so if trade bonus was the same, was just curious.
Agree re Asurion though. I posted them a phone (iPhone 12 pro max) once for a trade in and they received it, mixed it up with another phone I'd traded in via Vodafone (an old iPhone XS) and insisted that I'd sent them the wrong phone. So they kept the $800 they charged my card which should've been refunded when they got the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I didn't get the phone back either, so I lost twice.
Asurion is a mess

The cost of that phone is more than my previous car's trade-in value 😔 I guess my car didn't fold so it makes sense.
