    Exynossssssssssss

    • +6

I think if you get any exynos. The 2400 is the one to get. It's quite decent.

      • +1

Yeah true. It's still a turn off for many, though.

        • +4

All this because they sold the superior version is some countries and the crapynose in others. I mean sammy themselves did not want to sell crapynose in thier own home country S Korea but wanted other countries to accept it. Bull crap! First let them eat $hit and then show how its done to others. If they cant eat thier own crap, should not force it on others.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/sfdeqn/why_is_sout…

          • @John Doh: They probably didn’t want to pay Qualcomm exorbitant amounts for the latest chips to put in their phones, so they thought to use unimportant markets (which is everywhere except America, Korea, Japan and China) as a test bed for Exynos chips, and now they decided to just put Exynos chips to cut costs further and deny Qualcomm their money.

            • @FujinShu: I understand why they do it. But its not fair when they are charging a decent chunk of money for thier phones and especially when thier phones cost the same in other countries. Apple isnt doing this, nor other major phone companies, so why should samsung?

    • Nice and warm

    • can it run RE 4?

    • Geekbench scores are still quite a bit better than a Pixel phones. Is there more to it than the outright performance of the Exynos?

      • That's a very low bar lol.

  • +12

I bought this from the last deal. It's an Exynos, it warms up quite quickly. My 6-year-old Xs is far superior in terms of heat management.

    • Only the plus and ultra have good heat management I guess.

      • +1

The S24 Ultra has a Snapdragon SOC so less heat issues.

    • yeah, some guy convinced me it was an upgrade to a sd s22 but i see similar battery life - and to add insult to injury samsung tradein only gave me $50 for my s22. I'm not happy.

      • +4

Do not buy new phones from sansung until they start giving you your moneys worth. Like a charger or using new battery tech or other features they have removed.

The speed differences betwen generations are not too drastic to pay $700 or more for.

        • +1

Expandable storage. That's the most irritating feature they removed.

      • Only purchase and do a trade in through Samsung if there's a sizeable trade in bonus on offer.

        • Yeah but then you have to deal with Asurian scammers.

  • +3

in the market for a phone, wait for a deal on S25 or go with this? ill be coming from an S21

    • +7

      Hodl!

      • H0DL

    • +1

Im in the same boat(s21). Im on the fence, waiting to hear feedback from other users.

    • +4

Why didn't you get S25 pre-order deals? I traded in my iPhone XS max and got S25 256 for $350

    • If you get a galaxy make sure the one your getting does not have an exynos chip, same priced phone with a significantly worse chip

    • +2

I upgraded from the S24 to the S25 - S25 is far better.. I spit on the S24.

    • +4

this is shit, just wait for s26.

      • +6

Nah I hear the s29 is gonna be a cracker. Wait for that.

    • -4

Wait till samsung s26 uses the new battery technology. Only then you can buy. I will not buy a samsung unyil I get redicolous discount because All their phones are rip offs.

  • +2

    Its a solid phone

    • -1

That's a bummer. I like the holographic projection phones you see in sci-fi movies,

  • +3

I get it, but I still think a Exynos could surpass a Snapdragon and people still wouldn't change their minds. It feels too engrained. Maybe I'm wrong.

    • +3

People said the same about AMD, but now everyone loves it more than Intel. Beat them and the people will come

      • +1

But there was never the intense hate for AMD like there is/was for Exynos. AMD was just always the poor, inferior cousin who never bothered anyone. People feel personally attacked by the existence of Exynos. So I think it's a different situation and it'll take a while for the sour taste to dissipate.

    • +9

The reason Samsung uses Snapdragon chips in America is that they are better. In countries with lower sales, they charge the same price but use an inferior chip that they produce themselves. This results in the same price, better margins for them, and worse performance for you.

      • +6

Actually most companies would prefer to use their own chip because it is cheaper.

Snapdragon has to be used in some countries because of preexisting CDMA infrastructure which exynos chips dont support it.

Samsung has made a business decision not to bother investing into CDMA support on their exynos chips so they use snapdragon for this.

Exynos has excelled quite alot, yes its not on par yet but for a majority of users they wouldnt even know differences. Most people dont buy phones for their processors (which is why it is not written on the box), they buy it for the feature set.

Not to mention there has been some Snapdragon models which didn't perform… so it isn't always better with SD.

    • +1

That's probably right, but the Exynos 2400 appears to be just on par with the SD8G2 in the older s23 and doesn't go close to the SD8E in the latest s25.

Having said that $749 is a good price for a solid phone which the s24 is. Samsung s-series phones tend to drop to $749 (it's what I paid for the s23) shortly after the new model is released. I'll be waiting for the s25.

  • +1

Will wait for s25 deals, better chip and bigger ram. Till then my S23 will be capable to support me.

  • this or pixel 9a?

    • +1

      I'd personally say this

      • may i ask why? friend mine is interested in both? i passed this deal on.

        • flagship samsung vs nonflag ship google pixel, if it was an 8 verse a s24, id recommend the 8 but im biased as i have an 8 and it comes down to personal preference

    • Dont blow your money on s25. The new battery tech will be in their S26 lineup so if you could wait till next jan them I say you do so.

      • What will the new battery tech give? Longer hours? How long are we talking about?

      • Oo exciting… What battery tech are we talking about?

        • Sillicon carbide, which is already in use in the Oneplus 13 and other Chinese phones.
For context, that phone has a battery that is 20% larger than the s25 ultra!
          (6000mah vs 5000mah)

However, what I have heard is that Samsung being Samsung will go for a more conservative implementation and gains will be more around the 5 to 10 percent mark.

  • -1

Does anyone price match this? officeworks jb harvey norman etc? i want to buy but not in stock at telstra and dont want to wait current phone is constantly losing signal. alternativly any other current good phone deals?

    • Try jb and OW, amd also try calling multiple stores still you find a friendly person

      • Officeworks don’t price match Telstra!!

  • +1

The Exynos in this is totally fine performance wise and battery lasts ages. Source: me, previous user of Snapdragon S22 and S20 FE (and Pixels before that).

    • I honestly don't get the hate, for like 90% of us Exynos is perfectly fine. I have had the S20+ for 5 years now and it hasn't been a problem, could easily last another 12 months. Maybe if you do a lot of mobile gaming and whatever it could be a turn off but if you are like most of us where you browse the internet, use maps, social media, email, phone calls etc then it is perfectly fine.

      • The Exynos name is tainted from older generations.

        • It's tainted for me from the Pixel 8a (2024).. but maybe Samsung have a better implementation.

  • +1

I got the S24+ for $644 three weeks ago with the Samsung secret sale, a $150 dollar trade in and $100 trade in from the live chat. maybe it's worth waiting for one of those sales to come around again?

    • +1

how will we know about it if its secret?
genuine question not taking the piss…

      • That's just the name of the sale, it's not literally a secret.

    • Yeah agreed, this phone should now be around the $600 mark..

  • My wife just got S24 recently. She said voice call quality is poor compared to her old phone Huawei P20 Pro, because she could hardly hear the other person if background noise is loud at the other end. And Bitwarden auto fill does not work.

  • I recently traded my S22 256 GB for an S24 512 GB. I had to pay $374 after the trade-in via the Samsung edu store. Overall happy with the deal as my main concern was the depleting battery life and lacking extra storage.

    • i did the same exact thing in the last deal. i would recommend not to bother, the sd battery life even after all these years of abuse was as good as brand new s24. and i dont want to hear about adaption etc. it still sucks.

  • When do samsung generally discontinue the previous gens?

  • The S24+ with 256gb is on the partner portal or whatever it is called for like 830? Probably a better deal than this.

  • +1

    S24/S24+ or Nothing 3A?

  • Sorry to take things slightly off-topic, but for anyone outside of very very heavy users (gamers or specialised software), what is the value proposition of these high-end phones?

My moto G84 cost me about a half to a third of the cost of a new Android flagship and obviously isn't as good. But in terms of storage, battery life, real use applications (youtube, podcasts, maps/navigation, web browsing, setting alarms/calendar, authenticators, etc) it's largely similar.

I remember buying a iPhone3GS back in the day because it was (at least by advertising) twice as fast as the iPhone3G, something that would make a serious difference in day-to-day use. Now it seems like the year-to-year uplift is 10-15%ish in terms of raw performance on something that already does day-to-day tasks fast enough to not really be a problem anymore.

Am I missing something? or is it just a status thing?

    • +1

The one thing I find difficult to get on the cheaper phones (compared to high-end phones) is a good camera that performs well in low light and/or with movement. If you don't care about the camera or gaming IMO there is no point getting flagship phones.

      • Camera is a good point. I don't use my phone camera very often and when I do it's mostly more documentation (where image quality doesn't matter much) rather than social/holiday pictures where it matters alot more. I can see why for someone to which camera quality matters would justify a more expensive phone.

        • +2

I always used to buy $200 Chinese phones until I had kids and suddenly capturing all the special moments without time to set up the perfect shot became really important. Now I have to spend way more money on phones. Moral of the story. don't have kids.

      • Yes agreed, but the small improvements are rarely worth getting the very latest phone. The s25 is using essentially the same main camera setup as the s22.

  • Decent deal, however you can get the latest model S25 for 720 (or less) with trade in with code stacking as in the other thread.
