    • Like others have mentioned, the extra $350 JB gift card makes this deal much better (if all works out fine).

Edit: some have reported that they received the gift card on the spot.

  • Just did this in store, can confirm:
    1. $1700 off at checkout, so paid $1997-1700 = $297 at the counter with gift cards i got previously
    2. $99 paid via direct debit
    3. Cancellation fee is pro rata of $800 as per telstra's TnC
    4. $350 JB gift card to be provided when i go pick up the phone.

    • Cheers. Did you cancel there and then or after you pick up the phone?

      • I am planning to cancel on receipt of the device - unless comments advise otherwise?

    • How much showing on invoice ? Or will get invoice on receipt of phone ?

  • I purchased a S24U 512GB from the recent Secret Sale deal for ~$1600, and it was delivered yesterday but still haven't opened it. Double minded if I should buy Pixel 9PXL from this deal and return the S24U.

Update - Went into JB again to ask. They said it’s a nationwide issue for those asking for new number. Not sure if it’s true but I wasn’t the only one apparently

    • Just signed up during lunch with a new number - came within 5 minutes. Sales guy told me they had this issue yesterday but should be ok today

      • Thanks for the update - I guess I’m in the unlucky boat who signed up yesterday

      • +2

Can you download the JB Hifi App and see how much cancellation fee does it show if you try to cancel. Someone in Flip 6 deal thread did that and it showed the amount.

        • +2

good idea I'll try when i get home later

    • Signed 20 minutes ago, no issues, new number straight away

    • Signed up for a new number at lunch today, mine is also stuck in 'order progressing'

This was after waiting around for 20mins.

The JB rep also said the system has been backed up and they had people from yesterday waiting for theirs to go through.

    Hi all,

I've just signed up to this deal at lunch and am now wanting to cancel the contract.

Do I just call the generic telstra number to cancel or is there a specific number to call?

    thanks in advance

    • +1

Let us know how much you have to pay back

    • +1

Don't you have to wait until you pick up the phone?

      • That's a fair shout.

I was literally just on auto pilot going through the check list of things to be done for this.

Forgot to add - "Collect phone" before cancel service 😂

      • +1

No you don't have to wait to receive the phone. Phone and Plan are two separate things. You got a voucher when you signed up the plan, and used that voucher to purchase the phone. Last year I did the same with HN P8P pre order deal, and cancelled as soon as I left the store.

    • Generally done via live chat, but not sure anyone's been game enough to cancel the contract before having the phone in their hands. Proceed with caution I guess!

    • Quoting from the CIS below. Note it is immediately cancelled so you can't make use of the 1 month worth.

      Can I cancel my plan?
Yes, you can cancel your plan at any time by calling us on 13 50 75 or visiting a JB Hi-Fi store. When you cancel, your service will be disconnected immediately. We won’t refund any money you’ve already paid and you’ll need to pay out any remaining Voucher Repayment Fee.

    • Download JB Hifi App and cancel via that. Alternately simply port out and it will be cancelled automatically.

      • I have the app, but I don't see where to cancel. Can you point me in the right direction?

  • Anyone tried cancelling yet? I don't see any reason why you can't cancel before you have the phone. Your plan is already active so it can be used in another phone if you want. Signing up for the plan just gave you $1700 off a phone you get in a weeks time.

Anyone here taken up this deal who were initially going to go for the regular (smaller) pro instead?

    • +2

Wondering the same. What do you have in mind though, phone size?

      • +1

The Pixel 9 pro (6.3") is a perfect size. I have the Pixel 7 pro and find it too big on most occasions.

If the Pixel 7 had the telephoto lens as well I would have got that.

        • With curved edges, Pixel 7 Pro definitely feels bigger than it is. I suggest go for P9PXL as it is almost exactly the size of iPhone Pro Max and with flat sides and flat screen, feels compact when holding it.

    • I was considering this but needed a phone by 31 August because of the 3G disruption. My carrier flagged my OnePlus 8 Pro as potentially unable to make calls after that date so decided to get the XL. Thankfully it's about the same size as my OP8Pro so I'm okay with it.

Thank OP, great post. Signed and no issues. JB said phone might be available before the 22nd.

    Total price 1847
    Online gift card $1700
    Cc card $147
    Change $0

    • Can you pay the upfront cost with a gift card?

      • Yes.

      • Not the $350

        • Of course not the $350 part of this deal, which is to be received when collect the phone.

      • Yes - I did this.

The $99 is paid to telstra so you can't pay that with JB GCs.

  • +1

I did the 512 GB and got a receipt with

    GOOGLE PIXEL 9PRO XL 512GB HAZEL $2197.00

    SUBTOTAL $2197.00
    TOTAL PRICE $2197.00

    03 Online Gift Card $1700
    #'What I assume is a payment ID number"-1

    02 EFTPOS…'My payment info' - ONLI $497
    #'What I assume is a payment ID number"-2

    • What is GST amount mentioned in the invoice?

      • $199.73

        • Thank you. I am planning to travel so it will be helpful.

          • @Ozfanmel: Don’t forget to ask them to put your full name on the receipt. You’ll need it for purchases more than $1000.

    • My receipt didn't have any GST amount, even though it does say it is a tax invoice. I am hoping I will get a copy of the proper tax invoice for salary packaging purposes.

Does your receipt actually have the GST amount showing?

  • Anyone doing this deal as a new Telstra number who currently have an active Boost (12 month sim) service?

    • +1

If it is a new number then it doesn’t matter what you currently have

    • +1

Yes, I am in this exact boat and it was fine. New number so count as a new customer. The headline for the deal is "bring your number" or something but the terms say new numbers are fine.

    • +2

Get a new number and you count as new customer

    • I got 2x new numbers put under my account today. Worked fine

  • +15

To clear this up for everyone asking about the $800 cancellation and how it might be subject to change, I spoke to the rep at JBH and was told that this $1700 is comprised of two parts. Telstra is paying $800 to JBH and the remaining $900 is a promotion from JBH. When you are cancelling, you need to pay back the pro rata of what you owe Telstra $800 x (remaining months/24). As correctly indicated by @BargainsGrabber, if this is after one month (which you might as well use anyway because you have already paid $99 for the first month) that would be $766.59.

This is a fantastic deal to get the phone now. If you can wait, then the $350 gift card on phone pickup can be used towards a Pixel Watch or Buds during Black Friday sales.

    • +1

This means JB must have got these phones from Google under a corporate deal, and selling it after discounting it by $900 and still making money.

  • If I get the Pro XL 256GB on this deal including canceling the contract for around $1200 total (plus $350 voucher), but decided it's too big then in theory I could trade it in when the small Pro comes out and use the voucher for any price difference?

Then depending on the small Pro deal at the time I would more than likely get a new voucher and or a trade in bonus on top of that.

    • Thats like a planning across generations 😅

    • I checked the new Samsung flips trade in price and it's already gone down to $800. So maybe the trade in value will drop too low for this to work

      • +1

Better wait I am sure similar deal will be offered for that as well.

        • That's what I'm thinking. Just hoping they don't get smart and fix the terms and conditions so cancelling is more expensive. Plus there's always the FOMO on a good deal lol

      • Samsung flips and pixels are pretty bad investments :D Regular Samsung slabs and iPhones keep their value quite well.

    • +1

I'm looking at the pro regular too. Although, the XL isn't that bigger….

      https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Google-Pixel-9-Pro-XL…

      • +1

I may go to a store and see if they have the demo models, although it may look a bit weird when I try to see if it's too big to fit in my pocket.
Would be a shame to miss this deal and end up spending more on a smaller model with smaller battery.

        • That's what I did. They said that a lot of people ask if they can put it in their pockets.

They will chain you to the counter first ha ha ha….

  • will this work if I port out directly instead of cancelling on JB app ?

    • Yes. Once you port out, your plan will be cancelled automatically.

  • +1

Interesting that a number of people with multiple Boost accounts are having trouble with this

    • Is this affecting people with a number of active Boost SIMs, people who have had lots of them active in the past or what?
Is it also only affecting people trying to port, or same if you are applying for a new number too?

  • Just preordered mine at the store. Got the Pro XL 256GB Hazel. Can't wait :') .

Would have ordered the regular Pro version if available but I doubt JB will add the $350 gift card bonus for that when it releases later.

    • It did for the regular 9. $250. Probably would be $300 for the pro.

      • Well, might be. Good luck 😁.

  • Surprised not many people asking for a deal. Was offered $50, any of the XL and also stacking with trade in offer.

    • You mean $50 off the XL RRP?

      • Yes, sorry was about $43 to be accurate. But any savings help.

    • I thought you can’t stack with the trade in offer

      • I thought so too, but the rep confirmed it was fine. Do the trade thing online and bring the voucher code when pick up to pay. He said they will take off additional $350 + value of phone, if worth more than the balance, the difference will become a gift voucher. Pretty much deal of the year for me, worked out to be about $970 for the 512gb pro xl model, without calculating $350 gift voucher or trade in value.

        • Mine was the opposite - I didn’t have to mention it and he immediately said you can’t stack the trade in voucher lol

He didn’t even let me the chance to sneakily use it at the counter

But either way, a win is a win for you!

        • Which store was it? Because it was clearly mentioned not stackable with any other trade in deal etc.

          • +1

@OZBsince2018: Can confirm this, just signed up and stacked the $350 trade-in code. The JB rep was also happy to get a one off approval for Fold as well.

  • What phones are people upgrading from to the Pro 9 XL? I'm trying to make a final decision on whether I should say goodbye to the Oppo Find X5 Pro (which is a fine phone) and finally say hello to a Google Pixel.

Writing this again since it moved up a few pages. May be OP can add it all in description:

    • You should just post it as a deal instead of posting as a comment every day lol

as long as your title doesnt have Pixel 9 Pro XL 128gb it doesn't count as dupe.

All good buddy. Just trying to help people :') .

        • +1

          Great help
This helps clarify the deal for me

Well written summary. Thanks for this!

I also heard that Telstra are having activation issues at the moment. It might take time for order to go from confirmed to processed (final stage).

    • No issues on my end, ported about 30 mins ago and took about 10 mins to activate.

    • I guess you did your order yesterday like me?

Only those who did it yesterday got affected

    • Yep, mines been stuck for ~6hrs
