Can I do this for phone 16

  • +1

My account is actually blocked by JBhifi due to multiple accounts from boost Sim 😀 Badly want to get this deal but not sure if they will deny given I have been blacklisted… Will try later today 🤞

    • How many accounts/SIMs are we talking?

      • I had 4-5 accounts but all with different names. Issue was I was using perks vouchers and doing click and collect which led to blocking my account.

        • mmmmmmmmm i have double of you in terms of boost account to have enough for each month of the year lol. im probably blocked too hahaha

          • @lawyerz: No that won't be issue as long as you give different names. Mistake I did was used my actual name for click and collect which resulted in them identifying.

            • +1

@Yogi555: i mean… i also used my real name for click and collect :S heck, i redeem the perks voucher on my main jb account…

              • @lawyerz: Don't do that. You will definitely be banned. Good option is to directly walk in to the store and redeem perks voucher at the counter.

  • Does anyone know the upfront cost for the 256GB model?

    • +4

I just recently signed up in-store for the 256GB model.
It cost me $297 upfront for the phone + the $99 for the first month of the plan.

Confirmed with the rep at the time (he actually told me without asking) that the plan can be cancelled and will just need to pay back the Telstra voucher amount of $800.

      • And did you get the $300 gift card as well ?

        • Want to know as well

          • +4

@keepsmiling: They told me that I would get it with phone when I picked it up.

They honestly were having a lot of trouble getting it sorted. It seems like they were not quite prepared, considering it was the first day.

      • +1

Wow thank you. So you picked a new number and will cancel with Telstra after getting the phone?

  • Which is the better phone and why? Pixel 9 or S24?

    • +3

      Try chatGPT

  • If you call Telstra to cancel. Do JB then ask you for the $1700 back?

    • +2

No, as you’re signing up to the $800 gift card offer on Telstra system, that’s what Telstra will see on their end

  • -1

Says $1847 when I click the link to order.

  • So pure cost ends up being (inc ETC) $1046 for the phone, plus, you get the $300 JB Hifi voucher. Pretty good.

    • Can someone confirm whether pure cost (inc ETC) $1046 - $350 JB gift card - $350 trade in coupon = $346 is possible?

      • You cannot pay off Telstra ETC with JB Gift card lol

The bonus trade in coupon will only work with Pixel 9 Pro XL Purchase. So you can maybe use it to cancel out the $147 which means you will lose out on the remainder $153. Best case you upgrade to 256gb for extra $150 = $297.

  • +1

Anyone whos done this before can advise how the invoice is printed out ? for tax / salary sacrifice purposes ?

    • +2

It is a mystery, unless you read the comments

  • Trying to work out the worst case scenario and the best path if the cancellation fee is more than $766.59

  • Can someone check my understanding.

I am already on the $99 plan which is completed in mid-October. If I paid it out, it would be $200. I would also need to switch my sim over now to another provider for 30 days.

Through this deal, I would get $350 gift card + $350 trade in + $1700 towards my new phone = $2400. Pixel 9 Pro 256 is $1997. $2400 (gift cards etc) - $1997 (phone) - $200 (to pay out plan) = $203 left on the gift card.

Is this correct? It sounds like I can't do it anyway because I'm currently on an active plan and have to wait 30 days?

    • +1

I don't think you have to wait 30 days. It does not say anything in the terms and conditions.

      • When I was in the store the other day, one of the reps said I did. But two years ago, when I did this I went from boost to JB and they just switched me to an optus sim for 10 minutes.

I don't think they are meant to do this.

      • Have to wait 30 days. They can see it in their system now.

Otherwise just get a new number and cancel once you have the phone.

        • +1

This is what I thought. So in my instance, I just have to wait and hope in two months time, that there are some deals on. Its annoying, because Google has brought forward the release otherwise I would have just been out of contract !

    • +3

You don't get the $350 trade in bonus and you don't get the $350 gift card until you pick the phone up.

      $1997- $1700 = $297 + $99 + $(23/24)*800 = $1162.66 (and you get a $350 gift card).

      • Correct, it’s an excellent deal as it is already :)

      • Previous jb trade in bonus I've been able to use on the phone purchase itself.

        • How did that work? I was told the voucher is issued when you pick the phone up.

          • @Autonomic: There are 2 different vouchers discussed here.

The trade in bonus you get through jb square up by entering details of a phone you want to trade in and they'll send you the voucher to use to buy the new phone.

            • +1

@CodeXD: The Square up voucher doesn't stack with the port-in promo

              • @Autonomic: This seems to be the case. $1700 off had a "not available with trade in coupon" clause.

  • Can we pay the $800 voucher repayment with JB vouchers? 😅

    • It has been discussed before - no as this is managed by Telstra, not by JB

  • +1

Is this something similar available for the Pixel 9 Pro? Would prefer a slightly smaller phone :| .

    • +1

P9P isn't available for pre-order yet. "Arriving spring" apparently. I'm annoyed too, but need a new phone now so the XL is it lol

      • Yeah, no choice then. XL it is then. Might be getting 256GB for $150 more. Will go tomorrow at my local JB. Gonna be a long queue :) .

        • +1

I suggest waiting a few weeks if possible. There's no deal available yet for the standard Pro, which I'm also waiting for, so I assume one will be offered once it's available for pre-order. Fingers crossed

          • @djprima: Not possible here - Xiaomi stuck on China ROM after SafetyNet/Play Integrity changes and no band 28 on Boost. I've been holding out for a deal, but can't hold on any longer I'm afraid

            • +1

@OZBMate8911: I totally get it—I was this close to pulling the trigger myself. But coming from my ancient, gasping-for-air Pixel 3, I know I'd regret jumping to a bigger phone. Gotta resist the temptation!

          • @djprima: I doubt we will get a $350 JB Gift Card at that time. Do you reckon JB will keep the same preorder bonus?

            • @DealHunterBD: Will need a deal for crystal ball, but day one deals are usually the best one and technically, there’s no day one deal yet for the normal Pro.

But hey, don't blame me if it doesn’t work out that way :)

    • +2

Do we know if/when the pixel 9 pro is available to pre order, will the deal be the same?

      • +1

I had a web chat with JB today. The operator said he can give me a link which I can pre order 9 Pro non XL now if I wish. I said I prefer to order with the JB mobile deal. Then he said I can go to the store of choice and order from there, same deal with the XL version. I haven't tried it yet.

        • Thanks for replying! I tried on the day this was announced at the JB store and the guy couldn't locate the 9 pro non XL on his system so we weren't able to put through an order

  • Would I be considered a new customer if I recently had a Boost prepaid service that I ported out of 2 days ago?

I ported my number from Boost to Lebara, however thinking of taking up this deal with a new number and leaving my current number with Lebara.

    • +1

If you are doing new number you'll always be considered new customer

  • +2

Amazing write-up and thanks for following up in the comments, this looks to be the best value if wanting to get a pixel 9 pro xl

Just a general question, would signing up to a plan and cancelling in any way affect your credit score / rating? Would a bank notice this if trying to refinance your mortgage?

Also would warranty claims be through Telstra or JB?

    Thanks

    • same concern

    • +1

JB - as you’re buying the phone from them

  • Wait, so can you get the bonus $300 gc

    • Yes, I’ve confirmed it with the JB employees in store today

      • Is it 350 or 300 gc? Website says 350. Also can someone confirm how the 1700 is applied? What appears on the receipt and how much do you pay up front?

        • +2

It’s $350 - the original mentioned of $300 was an error on my end

I can’t confirm how the $1700 as Telstra is still processing my order today and they asked me to check back tomorrow. Based on past experience, the $1700 will be deducted when you go and pay for the phone

          • @BargainsGrabber: So am I correct in saying we can't salary sacrifice for this deal?

            • @brainactive: I never salary sacrifice as I’d rather pay the cancellation cost
Can’t help you in this instance sorry :(

            • @brainactive: im looking to SS as well and judging by comments you get a RRP invoice when you pickup the phone.
If that's the case I don't see why not.

              • @arman1201: Wouldn't the invoice have the $1700 coupon applied so it would show as you paying $147 for the pixel 9 xl 128gb?

                • @brainactive: i have no idea tbh trying to find that out as well.
my understanding is that for my SS company they dont care if its paid by giftcard or not.
I'm guessing its a different story if its applied as a discount rather than a 1.7k giftcard.

                  • @arman1201: Yeah I'm in the same situation as you. Got confirmation that the pre-order receipt shows 1.7k gift card. But not sure about what the actual receipt will show when you pick it up.

          • @BargainsGrabber: Just checking. So you haven't been approved by Telstra yet?

            • @trantonz: Nope, the order is still in progress per the JB Mobile app

I’ve got the SIM card with me already but JB said they couldn’t release the pre order sales yet until it’s completed (aka I haven’t paid for the $147)

              • +1

@BargainsGrabber: For me it was a different case. I actually paid for the mobile as well today. $1700 was paid from a jbhifi gift card by JBhifi themselves and I had to pay remaining $147.

They asked me to keep the receipt and bring the receipt during collection of phone.

              • @BargainsGrabber: I see. So once you find out that you got the approval from Telstra, then you would go back to that JBhifi store to pay for the rest?

                • @trantonz: I’ve already got approval from Telstra, as I’ve paid my $99 for the first month

I’m not really sure what’s the hold up on Telstra end, hence why JB couldn’t release the pre order sale for me yet

          • @BargainsGrabber: Does this mean net cost (after taking into account the $350 preorder GC) will be $662.59? I know GC can’t be used to used upfront, but still a saving.

            $766.59 + $147 Google Pixel 9 Pro XL + $99 for thefirst month fee = $1012.59 - $350 GC = $662.59?

  • +20

    Pixel 9 (128GB): (1347 – 1347) + 99 + (23/24) *800 = $865.66 (and you get a $250 JB GC)
    Pixel 9 (256GB): (1497 – 1400) + 99 + (23/24) *800 = $962.66 (and you get a $250 JB GC)

Pixel 9 Pro: Error 404, not available yet.

    Pixel 9 Pro XL (128GB): (1847 – 1700) + 99 + (23/24) *800 = $1012.66 (and you get a $350 JB GC)
    Pixel 9 Pro XL (256GB): (1997 – 1700) + 99 + (23/24) *800 = $1162.66 (and you get a $350 JB GC)

Let me know if there’s any mistake I can update. So, people don’t have to go through previous pages 😊 .

  • +6

Pre ordered one and it's confirmed by Store employee that cancellation cost is capped at $800 and we also get a gift card (don't remember 300 or 350 exactly).

Should say it's deal of the century with pre order pixel phone for around $650. Thanks a lot @BargainsGrabber !!

    • You’re most welcome mate :)

      • Any chance this is going to get updated and withdrawn before we can pick up the phone?

  • After we port our number over with this deal, when we cancel, can you go back to your original plan? (Mines with Optus)

Or should we be porting in a random sim with a number we dont care about?
Sorry I'm a newbie to this

    Cheers
    James

    • +1

If you don't intent to stay with JB then just get a new random number

  • Anyone HODLing for a free pixel watch 3 with pixel 9 deal?

  • Does anyone know how the trade in bonus is added to the deal??? With a $350 trade in value + $350 trade bonus, do i just get a $700 gift card?

    • bonus trade in value is not stackable with $1700 off

    • You need to buy something else with the $350 voucher though.

  • Anything like this for the fold?

  • +2

    @BargainsGrabber
Thank you so much for the post, I followed your post went to local JB Store to gone through the process.

    • Signed up Telstra $99plan and got approved on the spot, then get the $1,700 Voucher
    • Then went to counter and pre-order the Pixel 9 Pro XL 1TB version for $2,547 and confirm will get the $350 GiftCard on the day I picking up the phone.
    • Pixel 9 Pro XL 1TB $2,547 applied $1,700 voucher = $847 and this is what I paid. Again noting that I will get the $350 Giftcard on the day I picking up the phone. Hence $847 - $350 = $497
    • Telstra already charged me $99 today.
    • If cancelled by end of one month, and break the contract paying $800, then the net cost should be $2,547 - $1,700 (Telstra Deal) -$350 (pre-order bonus) + $99 Telstra first month fee + $800 break cost = $1,396 for Pixel 9 Pro XL 1TB.

    • Incredible deal!! Again, thank you very much for sharing this with the community :)

    • I don't think you can apply the $350 pre-order gift card towards the purchase of the device.

      • +2

I think they’re aware but just factoring into the final cost to feel good :)

        • +1

Could probably sell the gift card for $300 so add $50 to the total and it's not just a feel good number.

    • Excellent deal.
Now just pray that the phone is not plagued with issues like some of the previous Pixel generations were i.e. network drop issues, battery drain etc. Else this $1,396 will seem to be too costly as Pixel phones drastically lose value soon after release.

      • Which models had these issues?

    • +1

Perfect steps. I've never done one of these before, so thanks, it does lay things out for me.
Is this voucher digital, or a piece of paper they give you?

    • How long was the sign up process? And I assume they check ID on sign up. Need to get a phone for my other half but pretty sure they have to be present.

  • Any documentation stating you will get the $350 gift card?
