[VIC] Bosch Series 4 60cm Freestanding Dishwasher Stainless Steel SMS4HTI01A $909.99 @ Costco, Docklands (Membership Required)

180

$909.99. I’d been looking to replace our existing built-under dishwasher for a while and this deal from Costco (Docklands VIC) is the cheapest I can find for Bosch series 4. It’s a freestanding model but you can easily remove the lid and install as a built-under like I did. It’s made in Turkey - the global epicentre of fine appliance manufacturing :)
It connects to wifi for remote control. Was easy to install and is very quiet. So far so good! Deal runs to 15th September, 2024.

  • Random question - does anyone know what used to be before 2009, where Costco Docklands is now?

    • Empty land. Pretty sure nothing was there before the Costco Warehouse / Store was built.

  • Was definitely empty land - I used to work at an office nearby when it was under construction. And soon it will be relocating to Adeer

Might be worth checking out homeclearance.com.au and see if there are “new/cosmetic blemishes” dishwashers available for a good discount. Picked up a series 4 last month with a minor dent on the front for $750. And I have seen serie 6 for less than 1000.

For example this scratch and dent serie 4 (built-under) is $622. https://www.homeclearance.com.au/p/bosch-serie-4-serie-4-und…

Run by Appliance Online - so a legit website

  • will costco deliver it as well or pickup only?

  • This one was pickup only (some other models that are online-only are eligible for free deliver) but they are very good at helping you get the item into your car. A friendly Costco-ian took the box from the racking, thru the checkout then ramped it down to my car (had to go the long way around because the big goods lift is on the blink) and loaded it into the back of my car.

Dishwashers are not like washing machines where you have a massive concrete block to carry around so are light enough to manoeuvre from your car and into the kitchen.

I have one of these. Nice and quiet, gets things clean, no complaints here.

Bought one a year ago from HN using QLD Government energy-efficient appliances rebate.
Roughly 3 months later the front panel developed rust on the corner as can be seen on these photo at https://imgur.com/a/M6B0PI6
Took about 2 months for Bosch to acknowledge and repair it.
A bit frustrated about it. Is it like an anodised stainless steel coating instead of full depth stainless steel nowadays?

    • stainless steel is still a ferrous metal containing usually 60% or more in just iron, some types do rust and some are magnetic

however likely poor quality material or the wrong type of stainless for the job

  • As an alternative the Ikea dishwashers are apparently Bosch made at a cheaper price also.

  • Thanks @HollowMonkey - this is exactly what I am after.

QQ - When you say you "easily" removed the top - I am loosely handy, but what exactly did this entail? Was it simply unscrewing or did the angle grinder come out?

    Thanks very much
