It never left though?… these are just leftovers from Black Friday aren’t they? Never sold at my local been sitting there forever.
Edit: the battery combo I meant.

Great deal for the combo kit. I've got the old model that doesn't have wheels and it's been great. Just need to give it a pretty decent clean after each use so the filter doesn't clog up.

  • Anyone have any idea if they will physically fit another battery brand with adapter?

    • Another brand battery with an adaptor most likely wouldn't fit with the battery protector cover lid down. You can leave the cover open but the battery might get very dusty dirty etc depending on what environment you're working in.

My big Bosch 8ah battery just fits (battery is making contact with the cover) with the battery protector cover down on the older model (which looks to be nearly the exact same design)

Awesome reply. Thank you. I might risk it. The adapters usually make the battery a little wider. I know my small milwaukee vac would have no hope of fitting an adapter.

I wonder if it is powerful enough for car cleaning. Anyone knows? There are a lot out there 18v but rubbish. My friend has Milwaukee vacuum and it is really good.

    • I think it is, but my vacuuming is getting rid of gravel and small chunks of dirt on a vinyl floor. Not sure how it would go on carpet but goes ok on the seats.

    • im looking for a car vacuum too. Any other option besides Milwaukee?

    • +1

Yes works fine in the car. I use it for my garage and also for the car

    • Ideal for car general cleaning, much more grunt than a dyson V7, though for deep clean of carpets something like a mains dyson power head will be more effective.

    • Buy any mains powered vacuum for car carpet. I wouldn't use cordless stuff.

      • do you have a recommendation?

        • I originally purchased a Karcher Tradie Wet and Dry Vacuum from Bunnings for use at the site and found that it has very strong suction and rarely blocks as compared to the Ryobi wet and dry vac which is a total pain to clear blockages from the flexible pipe. The construction of the bin is also a lot better than the Ryobi but at twice the price this should be given.

        • I have a Stihl shop vacuum (mains powered) and it's awesome. Not the cheapest but good quality.

    • even the mrs uses it for her car clean. 1 full 8ah battery will clean the whole car. Claimed a bunch of free 8ah from bosch end of last year so now I have plenty to hot swap.

        How? :)

Buy Bosch tools with a redemption offer :)

    • I recently bought one and do not recommend it for cleaning a car. This vacuum is only good for picking up light dust and doesn’t work well on carpet.

      • Carpets need something to beat the dust out for the vacuum to suck, which is what the spinning beater bar brush in a carpet head does. An alternative would be to use a carpet head that has a firm brush on it to agitate the carpet as you vacuum.

        • Another alternative is, if you have M12 tools, their vacuum brushed power head.

        • Or a random orbital sander (without sandpaper) to agitate the carpet at the same time that you vacuum.

        • For carpet dyson works better or anything with a spinning agitating head
        • you can use a massage gun on the carpet while vacuuming. Watch the sand dance
        • last resort, use a tornador to blast everything before vacuuming
      • This is a job site vacuum for doing those half-s clean ups. Leave the fine details to the professional cleaners.

  • HEPA? So they are asbestos rated?

    • Same price and free postage. There were none at a Bunnings near me so free postage FTW.

      • But they use "Allied Express". Which is aweful

  • I got the kit last year and I paid $150.
    Not beeed.
    Good for outdoor use.

    • is there a Makita similar version - as I have lots of Makita batteries

  • @jeffr, yes mate they have really good wet/dry vacs but quite expensive.
I have makita too but got the bosch in a kit at a good price.

    • Hi Johnny which model do you have?

  • +1

Got one in the Black Friday sale and ended up returning it. Bloody thing gave me massive electric shocks every time I hooked it up to the track saw and ripped timber with it. Was a strong enough shock that you could visibly see the arc.

    • +1

The first time I heard that using a battery powered tool could cause an electric shock.

      • +1

There's also a review comment about getting shocks on the Bunnings site.

    • Sounds like it's static discharge from all the fine wood particles flying though and charging up the body. I imagine any cordless vacuum will suffer from it as there's no ground connection. Did it happen in dry or humid weather?

      • Yeah, this vacuum generates static like crazy - I think it is because no ground wire and a lot of moving particles inside plastic can.

      • possibly dry. It was inside and from memory and air con was running in the background.

Never got shocked from the Karcher though in similar conditions, so just gone back to that (also has better suction).

In hindsight, I only really care about dust collection inside and there's always power about in that case. Kind of didn't feel like this wasn't one of my better purchases even without the static build up.

        • You could probably solve this failry easy with an earthing strap / lead.

        • Get a Festool vacuum with antistatic adapters and hoses.

  • @jeffr I have the Bosch professional
    Gas 18v 10 L
    For me doea the job.

  • A bit off topic but does anyone know the difference between these 2 impact drivers? seems pretty good price

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/bosch-18v-professional-impact-dr…

    • The first one is for bolts, while the other one is for screws.

      • Right i didn't notice the difference of the head, looking at it future it does say The unique 2-in-1 tool holder with ¼” internal hex and ½” square drive, so having the 1/4 hex means its the same as the 2nd one right? if not better as it also has the 1/2 square drive

        • Buy the Bosch 18V Professional Impact Driver Kit and this adapter, and you’ll be able to handle both screws and bolts.

          • @jimojr: That is 3/8" adapter not suitable for larger socket sizes.

            • @dr: Dont even bother, it's weak wrench. Get a long breaker bar.

        • Yes, can use screwdriver bits in the first one as well

    • I believe the first one is incorrectly named.

At the risk of stating the obvious and boring you to death, impact tools come in two flavours: drivers and wrenches. Impact drivers usually have 1/4" hexagonal female socket (bit holder) while impact wrenches have male ½” square drive receptacles that go inside the socket. Drivers are mostly used for screws (in carpentry for example) while wrenches are used for lug nuts and bolts (mechanics and maintenance industries). Wrenches in general have higher torque rating (that can break your forearm if not careful)

If I recall correctly Bosh was the first one to introduce the battery powered combo and in USA it was informally marketed as BOSH FREAK, as it was capable of doing both. I think the US market has two version one with adjustable speed control switch that is more expensive.

Given that impact/wrench combo is cheaper, I would go for that option, unless you need more compact driver

  • This gadget is the best thing I own.

  • What about this one: https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-20l-stainless-steel-wet-an…

Can't fault it and it's really light. Easy to use on a ladder.

Add this for the car: https://www.bunnings.com.au/powerfit-workshop-vacuum-claw-no…

    and probably add these: https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-ear-muffs_p0401332

    • Standard issue for any home shed/garage. Get some cheap step adapters and you can attach the hose to your sanders, and other cleaning heads.

For consumables like dust bags, get them online on Ali in bulk you save. I use this to clean and service my indoor bagless Dyson cleaners.

      • Great tip mate, thanks.

How do you add a bag to your dyson?
