Just a word of advice I couldnt add my ubank card for my Argentinian payment for youtube. YMMV with spotify but found upbank worked fine.

  • Thanks for sharing - wouldn't have known about the monthly fee otherwise. Like many others, had this card since the "Wizard Clear Advantage" days. Just put in a cancel request.

  • Yeah. This is a deal breaker. Time for Latitude to go!

  • Has Anyone that still has price protection activated got this email?

    Still haven’t received it “yet”

    • nope

    • Yea I received the email and have the price protection. Not sure if I should cancel it though

      • -1

no don't cancel it, the price protection & other benefits is well worth paying the $96 yearly fee, just disappointing there is a fee now

        • -1

no, @hindo should definitely cancel it.

He wouldn't be asking this question if he claimed > $96 a year ;)

          • -1

@bohn: He needs to realise how good those benefits are n start claiming lol

          • @bohn: This is not my main card so like others have mentioned I only use it for international travel.

With the monthly fee on the horizon, I now need to consider if I keep it and use it more for purchase where PP may be applicable.

    • +1

How can you tell if you have price protection activated?

      • -4

        try reading some posts ffs.
        lazy so and so
but seriously, yours is not activated.

or maybe you've been paying 1% on any balance owing without realising it ;)

  • I'll be cancelling my card. Was always good to keep in case for overseas but can't see a point now.

  • Thanks for the heads up. Cancelling right after my holiday

  • +1

Just got back from overseas. Paid off the card last week and cancelled tonight.

  • +1

Haven’t received the email. Maybe they are sending it in batches.

    • +1

likely, as its going to smash their contact centre

      • Got the email today…. Cancelling….

    • Mine was in spam
Came here to check if was real😂

  • Had this card for soo many years..

    Oh well good bye!

  • Is this targeted? I didn't get the email.

    • Same I didn't either

  • Got the email today - $8 a month - yeah okay! Time to cancel.

  • Bye, bye… will be the 2nd CC to go in a few months, had a fee free MacQuarie Bank CC (ex Jetstar), they kindly offered to have me pay $149 annually! Nah, the pull back to cash or debit cards is getting stronger. Live long & prosper Amex

  • Yeahhhhhhh, I have an outstanding balance for YouTube Premium, which just got cancelled because I don't reside in Argentina (lol), so that's one more account closure once my payment has gone through.

Goodbye 28 degrees, it was great at that the beginning. Then we drifted through the middle years when you lost ATM interest but now I can see you're in it for my money. In case of any doubt, it's you, not me.

Bye Latitude. Thanks for the $0 international fees over the last couple of years. It's been fun.

Welcome to your new status of "just another annual fee credit card". I won't be taking that journey with you.

Negging because, compared to zero monthly fees, to a forced spend of at least $1000 just qualify for a net-gain $2 e-gift card is just a joke. And if you're the type to pay interest, they're raising that to 27.99% too (not that I expect many people on this forum would be letting their monthly balances go unpaid).

  • Have had this card for over 10 years and it's served its purpose well over all this time. A bit of a shame it has to end with what almost feels like a slap in the face!

Claimed the free Amazon Prime yesterday right after receiving the e-mail. Statement date is 15th of each month which is bloody convenient considering they're introducing the fee on the 17th Sep. Means I can pay all my council rates this month due on 16th with this card, which will put them on the Sep statement for the card which I'll get on the 15th of Sep, two days before the $8/mo fee kicks in. That statement will then be due for payment on 10th Oct, which will be 5 days before my first $8 monthly fee is charged.
16 Aug - Pay all council rates to maximise delayed payment using 55 day interest free
15 Sep - get statement for council rate payments
17 Sep - monthly fee kicks in to be charged on next statement due 15 Oct
10 Oct - direct debit payment due for Sep statement with council rate charges
11 Oct - Cancel card with zero balance following DD payment
15 Oct - Statement due with first $8 monthly fee not received due to cancelled card
16 Oct - Give middle finger to Latitude Finance

Now that's how you maximise the last vestiges of usefulness out of the card before telling them to shove off and F themselves!

  • Gotta be the stupidest thing any company has ever done.

    • -1

Only if dispensing with (certain) customers is NOT their intention. I strongly suspect it is.

  • $8 fee NOPE

  • +1

Bye latitude. This feels like a deliberate product killing strategy

  • +1

Not only the requirement is crap. The $10 e-gift you got is also crap as f.

"Latitude 28° Global Platinum Mastercard cardholders will be eligible for a $10 e-gift card every statement period that is issued by EonX Services Pvt Ltd on behalf of Latitude. Customers can redeem this from participating retailers via the Latitude App and Latitude Service Centre"

It is only redeemable by "participating retailers" but there is nothing in the Latitude App or the Latitude Service Centre at the moment to show you who they are.

    28 Degrees is dead.

  • Just got worse

  • Only had it for a few months, moved due to BW large min credit limit on platinum - moving off as well, sad day

  • WTH!!! $8 per month, thats breach of my decade long trust on 28 degrees!

  • bugger, cancelled my account

  • -2

Well, with their profits being so high, I can see the need to layoff some customers! /s

    ASX: LFS

    • +1

Dude, that page shows they lost $160M last year.

      • True.

Hence the /s at the end of the line. That's 's' as in sarcasm.

        Latitude is burning $$$.

        • A lot of that is to do with the cyberhack remediation and lost collections. They are doing fine on a forward projection. I don't hold the stock but I hold their hybrids which have been fine. This is a crap card and I've since cancelled. Likely they're cleaning out their legacy products that don't make them much.

  • Cancelled! Is there a fee for clicking on / asking for confirmation of closure?

  • I still have price protection insurance and received the email overnight so gonna sit on it for a few days and see if well cancel. I haven't used much of the price protection over the years so not a big draw card for me.

Sad times though as it's been my main card for overseas travel!

  • Best anti-bargain ever!

  • Good grief.

  • +7

I barely remembered that it was advertised as "No annual fee forever, ever". That is why it introduces "monthly fee" to avoid legal action taken against them.

    • Nope. The monthly fee is so they can charge a late fee twelve times a year on top of the monthly fee when you forget to pay it. Twelve late fees is worth a whole lot more than one annual fee.

  • Thanks. This is a wonderful deal.

    Cancelled the card today.

  • Yay, cancelled. How good is enshittification?

  • +2

With the exception of no fees for overseas purchases, this card is almost unrecognisable from where it started - advertised as the cheapest card in Australia with no annual fee ever, 0% balance transfer for 6 months, no fees for cash advances, and 12.4% interest on puchases and cash. Now it's an annual fee of $96 (sorry - monthly fee of $8), 6.99% balance transfer for 6 months, 3.5% fee for cash advances, 27.99% for purchases, and 29.99% for cash. The RBA rate was higher back then too!

Just stay away from latitude in general worse provider to deal with fullstop. With them once paid off never again 28% interest rate plus 45 dollar late fees . These guys are clowns
Customer service non existent keep bouncing from person to person

    • Depends on how you deal with them. If you back them into a corner you might get a response that includes something like this…

After careful consideration of the dispute and time invested for all parties, Latitude has made a commercial
decision to credit your account with $24.00, for the fees that may be charged to your account. If you
manage to close the account prior to the fee being applied, please accept the credit as a gesture of goodwill
      for being a Latitude customer.

  • Legit have not used this card once since i got it and now it has a monthly fee… all i wanted was the price protection and they didn't even include that for new customers…
