How is this any better than the Ikea one for much less?

It's probably not.
Is there a portable induction cooker that does not do the on off thing (intermittent pulsing) to cook at low temperature?
Most devices cycle power on and off to control output - microwave ovens, led lights, electric ovens. It's just the nature of the beast. Which is why I still prefer gas to simmer something.
I did quite a bit of research recently on portable induction cookers and I settled on the Dune cooker from Anaconda https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/camp-cooking/c…

Tefal Express Review - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xv8XYdLx_ktl;dr: The Dune cooker gives better control of heat production as is the reviewer's favourite to date. The Tefal is not much different from other induction cookers like Anko and there's some challenges in doing minor adjustments.
Good to know, now wait for a deal that one.
that clicking in the video though would be annoying
From the IKEA one's product page:
The hob may produce low humming, whistling or ticking sounds. These sounds are caused by the induction technology and they are completely normal.Guess it's normal for induction tops? I don't own one.
Pretty sure tokit would be better if cost is not an issue
Yes, I would love to get the Tokit, but at the price point and the amount I use the induction cooker, it wasn't justified. The variable heat controls on the Tokit means it's easier for someone to transition from Gas/electric cookers as many newcomers to induction don't realise how quickly and strong the heat comes on.
literally the same as latest ALDI one with a facelift which was $50
Sorry another schist deal from qantass
Stupidly expensive.
I’m using the anko special $52 does the job exactly the same
This is available for $90 on amazon.
Does anybody know whether or not this is a good and reliable cook top?
F quantass
From my personal experience, it's always a good idea to get one with 24months or longer warranty. I had Breville The Quick Cook Go which stopped working in it's 14th month and TGG support didn't assisted as this model comes with a 12 months warranty only. I then bought a Philips from HN when it was on special which was much cheaper than Breville's but came with 24 months warranty. So far so good. So I would advice to go with any reputed brand but if it's just few $$'s difference then don't overlook extra default warranty - 24 months vs 12.
Cheaper at the good guys, cheaper on catch.
