Free Flights on Qantas/Jetstar for Stranded Rex Customers @ Qantas

Rex customers impacted by cancelled flights due to the grounding of their domestic jet services can contact Qantas and Jetstar to be reaccommodated on the same route as their original booking at no charge, where they have seats available.

Customers with an impacted Rex booking can contact Jetstar on Live Chat or 13 15 38 and Qantas on 13 13 13 to make a booking. They have until 31 August 2024 to take up the offer.

The overlapping routes are:

  • Sydney - Adelaide
  • Sydney - Brisbane
  • Sydney - Gold Coast
  • Sydney - Melbourne
  • Melbourne - Adelaide
  • Melbourne - Brisbane
  • Melbourne - Canberra
  • Melbourne - Hobart
  • Melbourne - Gold Coast
  • Melbourne - Perth
  • Adelaide - Brisbane
  • Adelaide - Perth
  • Brisbane - Cairns

        Did you use the Qantas form? and did you get tickets on the same day you submitted the form?

        I also contacted Qantas this morning and they told me to go to https://www.qantas.com/rex and fill out details. No response yet.

  • Great. Woke up this morning and qantas has now cancelled everyone’s booking that rang the contact centre prior to yesterday to rebook their rex flight. You now have to submit a request and upload itinerary and they will assign you the cheapest flight of the day. Bit annoying for them to reverse all previously contacted customers based on a “newly formulated booking process” as the agent kept saying on the phone which was only implemented today.

    Just sharing my experience, I got my Rex flight rebooked with Qantas and I’m genuinely shocked how quick it was. I have raised my request Friday morning with their online form and received my tickets overnight, email said Saturday 8.20pm.

    • When is your flight? Was it quick because you're flying soon?

    Just got rebooked through the form after waiting for 2 days. Flight times are close to my intial flight which is good. But they are asking for me to pay an additional amount of $70 for some reason

          They are asking me to pay an extra $90 too. This is disgraceful, Qantas are supposed to be helping not taking advantage of the situation…

          Edit: See my comment below, the outstanding charge is not supposed to be paid by the customer

          FYI I called Qantas and they said the outstanding charge on the ticket is to be paid by Rex and not the customer. Hopefully it’s the same for you

    I have multiple Rex flights to be rebooked in September and October. I submitted the Virgin forms on day 1, haven't heard back, have called up the centre and have gotten no where. However, I submitted the Qantas forms and received booked flights within 24-48 hours. QF not JQ too. Posting this in case people dealing with similar problem. Hope it helps!

      • haha yeah look i was surprised too, I nearly didn't even both submitting qantas forms.

      • Now watch Virgin double book me on the flights, I become riddled with guilt, and waste an hour on hold trying to call through to tell them.

    • Got concerned waiting for Virgin to confirm flights for a rebooked flight after submitting the form the day it became available, tried calling them with no ability to get the booking done. Submitted the same request to qantas at 9am Sunday morning and got confirmed rebooked flights by 3pm in the afternoon.
      Like others have said there was a payable amount showing, I am hoping this is paid by Rex, not me as other have been told by qantas when querying this charge.

        I was double booked too. I cancelled the Virgin one via their online booking management, also confirmed with Qantas that my booking with them was good to go.

  • Any one else getting a $31.47 on the E Tickets per person with rebooking with Qantas? Hope the fee is not for me to pay?
