I had this error and what I did was deleted my browsing history from today and retried using the link in the email and it worked. Interestingly, it wouldn't work using the link in OzBargain after clearing my browsing hidtory. I also did it on mobile on 4G/5G, but I don't know if that made any difference. If you do not have the email, download the Latitude app and you should see the offer in the "offers" tab.

I finally got past the ‘something went wrong’ screen by turning off all adblockers….. or maybe they just fixed it. 🤷‍♂️

  • Just got a charge from Uber on this card.

Don't use Uber and card is with me.
Payment was in Sydney & I'm definitely not there.

Have blocked card and put in a fraud charge back.

Grr could be unrelated to this promo but bit sus…

    • You probably signed up from some similar promo and got 6 months free, forgot to cancel and it just recently renewed.

I very much doubt Mastercard would be scamming you by signing you up to Uber. The signup page isn't a third party site, it's their own one.

And they are for different companies (Uber, not Amazon). And all Uber charges say Sydney on the statement regardless of the city you are in.

        Thanks Lucy have checked
and you are correct I must have signed up to that or similar freebie.
But says free till tomorrow so charging me early.
Ah well have cancelled both the card and Uber one. ( have asked for a refund, will see how I go - didn't get an email saying renewal was coming up)

Ah the risks of signing up for something you may use ;)

But says free till tomorrow so charging me early.

Ah yes, they did the same to me. I recall that I did a chargeback because they weren't replying to my tickets for a refund. Didn't even use Uber/UberEats once with a similar promo. Then needed it when on holiday.

        • Going to be harder to get a refund to a cancelled card.

          • @Coops1: Oh great…
            See what happens:)

Probably stuff up my Ampol and Special giftcard rebates from 28 Degrees Latitude too !

              @snappy1234: Ok good news
              Got Uber refund
and Rebate from Special Giftcard -

only need my new card and Ampol Rebate :)

Didn't even use Uber/UberEats once with a similar promo. Then needed it when on holiday.

Hehe likely that was my reasoning too
    :)

Edit : Uber has messaged me to say they have organised to refund the fee, so some excellent news there. ( prompt response I thought)

  • Does this work if you used the $15 from another bank MasterCard offer? Or need to be new Amazon account? Not the same one as before

    • Try it and see, it's for 28d MasterCard I believe.

I kept getting the "Something went wrong" and "we have unsuccessfully attempted to authorise with your card issuer"" error messages across multiple browsers on multiple PCs and Android phone. Eventually, I tried it on Brave browser, with shields down, Win11 PC and it worked. What a faff.

    • Sadly even Brave browser with shields off doesn't work for me. Always something went wrong! 😞

  • Sorry, you have exceeded the maximum quantity of 1 allowed for this product

Redeemed the $15 credit, then cancelled my card over the new fees.

    • Got that email - $8 per month.. shame is no longer fee free but I'll be keeping for now. Shopper's protection has saved thousands.

  • Hi guys, what do you do if you close the 28degrees account due to the $8 fees coming up in Sep ? I presume the free Amazon sub will also ceased by end of Sep ?

    • I'll let you know at the end of the month!
My guess is it won't change - it's a 3-month promotional offer, i can't see feedback to Amazon of cancelled accounts.

  • Is everyone's account getting the $8 charge?

I can't see any emails about it.

Just stay away from latitude worse company to deal with zero customer service . Even if they offer 5% interest on purchases i will sway clear. Bunch of clown with exhorbent late fees and sky high rates. Google product review would give a great picture about these people

lol product review. most review are bad for everything.
I joined over 10y ago when it was 28 degrees, fantastic card for travel and the (grandfathered) shoppers protection/insurance is well worth it.

Just pay off your card each month to avoid high interest (on any credit card) :).

      exhorbent late fees

If only there was a way to avoid these…

    Thanks 👍
Signed up old Amazon account free for another 3 months. Has credit on it to use from a refund.

Sadly closed 28 degrees account today😢

Had this MC for 18 years - 6 months before Ozbargain existed!!
Mainly for overseas travel & cheaper conversion rate.

    • Agree, redeemed this offer, then noticed the $8/month fee email, so closed acc too.

    • Did Amazon flag your account after closing 28degrees? Read another person had their Amazon account banned after redeeming the offer then closing their 28d card

      • No - placed an order without any problems.

Paying with credit on account or gift cards. Not 28 degrees MC!

Just checked. Shows free membership through 28 degrees MC until mid November.

  • Hello, Can I take up the Prime 30 days free Trial from Amazon, then use my 28degree card offer to get the $15 credit?

    • +2

      Nope, I tried that

      • thanks!!

  • +1

    Thanks so much for this.

  • If I have a supplementary card, would I get $15 if I am already on the free trial from my main card? I know wishful thinking but thought I'd check anyways

    • free trial no $15 it will convert to 3-months.

  • I tried this on my Windows PC and I kept getting "Something went wrong" no matter what I did. I tried different web browsers and email addresses, primary cardholder, secondary cardholder, and deleting cookies, to no avail. Then I tried it on my Android phone and it worked first time.

I'm planning to cancel my 28 Degrees Mastercard before 17 September because of the new $8/month fee. I hope the Prime membership won't be affected by this.

Cancelled my 28 degrees because of a number of concerns with this pathetic organisation. Data leak and now to add insult $8/month fee they can get stuffed.

Applied for a similar card here https://www.bendigobank.com.au/personal/credit-cards/ready/
