Hi all,

First post after a few years so please be nice! Was just looking up prices for the Alienware 32inch OLED and found JB HI FI have discounted it further from $1511 to $1208, not sure if it is an all time low?

Hope it helps anyone who is currently looking to buy an OLED monitor.

Cheers.

  • WOWWWWWW I picked one up for $1700 when it first came out not too long ago. Ended up returning it but this is a epic price

    • +4

      Why the return? No good?

      • +2

I was doing 50% Office works and 50% gaming. OLED is nice but its still got a font issue. I couldnt justify 1700 but now at 1200 i could totally.

        • At 4k even?

          • @MA87033: yeah, its greatly improved from previous generations though.

    • +1

      Too curved?

    • +1

I had a totally opposite experience. Gaming on this is a dream and doing work on this is so much more enjoyable than staring at those dull screens in the office.

  • wish i got this instead of the samsung one for 1250. samsung tv os is so annoying.

    • +1

Agreed, got an Odyssey G6, great display but worst part about it is the smart garbage OS. I don't want or need more than a basic settings menu on a monitor.

    • Completely agree. It is so annoying that I’m considering selling mine.

  • any cheaper mon with 4k 32 inch?

    • +4

if you don't want oled, yes the dell has been mid $500s before

      • I have a Dell S3221QS 32 inch curved non-gaming monitor. It has "premium sound"
speakers which are very good, I can't imagine buying a monitor without good built-in speakers.

        • +24

I can't imagine using monitor speakers.

          • @MA87033: Normal ones are crap but this model has excellent speakers. Its curved so there is extra space.

      • From rtings - https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/gigabyte/m32u

The Gigabyte M32U is a decent PC gaming monitor. It has a 144Hz refresh rate and supports all common VRR formats to reduce screen tearing. It has low input lag for a responsive feel and good motion handling at high refresh rates. However, it's worse with lower refresh rates due to more blur and inverse ghosting. Unfortunately, it has limited picture quality, as it has a terrible local dimming feature, and blacks look gray in dark rooms.

Very tempting, but I want blacks and not greys lol

    • +3

yes most are, however this is QD-OLED.

  • Wow, done. Love you OP.

  • +1

Damn was waiting for the LG to go on sale but this is too good to pass up

  • +1

Fantastic price, I've been super happy with mine even after paying over $1500, SO worth it at this lower price

  • $1198 with Perks

    • Dang. Has there been another code? Mine expired 21 July.

      • +1

Nope, it’s just the usual $10 off for joining the Perks program

  • So good

  • Couldn't resist. Thanks OP.

  • GOD DAMN IT, I just bought one for $1500 on the 21st REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    • +1

      Get the difference refunded

      • I'm in the same boat. Bought it for $1500 on the 21st, but I still have not opened it yet. Still brand new in the box.
Is jb-hifi known to refund the difference in situations like this?

        • +3

Afaik it's 14 day price guarantee/protection whatever you want to call it (could be 30 days). If you have your receipt and talk to someone at JB you should get the difference refunded.

          • @daltron8484: Thanks mate I'll give it a shot!
Worst case I think I will just go return it and buy it again instantly. I checked their website, change of mind policy lasts for 30 days if the item is unopened.

            • +2

@smasha01: Always worth asking. They refunded the difference I paid for a tv cos the price dropped at a competitor, didn't expect them to do that

      • +1

Thanks hopped on chat and they did that for me :)

        • Strange, someone else said they didn't get the refund on chat, but for me and you it worked.

          • +1

@daltron8484: Yeah strange, lthough I emailed them last night with screenshots just incase. Even got up early today and hopped on chat exctly at 9 ahahah

          • +1

@daltron8484: Didn't work for me either…but i did send an email last night, so hoping they do it through that

            • @smasha01: Hopefully it works! All I did was hop on chat and quoted the receipted and said I wanted the difference refunded, and they approved it straight away. I suppose I haven't actually got the refund yet but they said yes and sent an email with the transcript.

              • +1

@daltron8484: On chat they told me that the current price is not $1208 so they wouldn't do it. Just trying chat again otherwise I'll see what they say via email.

                • @smasha01: Weird, I think I did it around 9:50am and they didn't even say anything. I just quoted the receipt number and they said yes we have processed it. For $300 may be worth just redoing it until you get lucky

                • @smasha01: It may not make a difference but I did the Faulty product returns, refunds & consumer guarantee issues chat option, maybe worth trying that instead of the normal one, if you haven't already

                  • +1

@daltron8484: Got a different person on chat and they refunded it right away, this is the transcript if it helps anyone else later (I haven't received any email transcript though so hopefully it does come through)

Last night the price of this monitor was $1208. Can I get the difference refunded for that?

No worries at all, I hope you have a lovely day! 😊

                    • +1

@smasha01: Glad you got it mate, took a few minutes for the transcript to be emailed for me

                      • +1

@daltron8484: Cheers! I had the chat window still open, there was an option in the three dot menu of the chat to send myself a transcript, so I did that

                        • +1

@smasha01: If possible can you share the PDF transcript too?

                          • +2

@OctoTheOctopo: Sorry I don't have any PDF transcript, I just have a copy in my email. If I post that I'd have to redact it a lot as it has all my personal info in it. If you're not having any luck just keep trying. Use the option that @daltron8484 said as well "Faulty product returns, refunds & consumer guarantee issues "

  • Fantastic price. I bought at 1500 and been really happy with it (was coming from an aw 34 dwf

Wish id waited tho, had jb gift cards :(

    • If you got it in the last 14 days you can get the difference refunded, I'm doing so in the morning

    • +2

      Not 4K though.

      • I'm confused by Dell's website. 32" is 4k and more expensive, 34" is opposite by all means, but the website keeps them in one place where you switch only by clicking on the size button. The subject one is better.

    • older panel, not 240hz, not 4k.

    • a lot less sharp and smooth, I went aw3423dwf -> lg27 -> aw3225qf.

      • -2

I doubt you can see the difference between 165Hz and 240Hz, let alone "a lot" less smooth.

But yes, a lot less sharp for texts. It is noticeable for non-RGB stripe displays.

        • I've passed double blind ABX testing with 100% success rate between 240hz and 360hz.

It's super noticable, especially if you've played comp FPS at a reasonably high level. If you showed me a monitor IRL I would be able to tell you what refresh rate it's set to just by moving the cursor around.

Even 360hz to 500hz is extremely obvious in smoothness, I've had a chance to see the new AUO E-TN prototypes, but I don't think 240+ offers much of an in-game advantage.

This issue with OLED is funnily enough, the 0.01ms response time and instant refreshes, the 165hz oled panel is significantly more choppy than 120hz ips panels.

The frames on OLED jump instantly to the next one, no blur in-between frames to smoothen it like IPS or VA. Better motion clarity but worse smoothness.

how about this LG? $452 32 inch with 4k.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/LG-32UP550N-31-5-Monitor-Delivery-…

    • Alienware is on the next level.

  • +1

Gutted. Bought 1 month ago for $1511.

    • There is no stock anyway lol.

  • +1

Nice. Hope this kinda price helps pull down the flat competitors a bit - likely the MSI, Aorus. But probs won’t see the Asus move much though. And really the new G8 likely the closest competitor

  • +3

    Pretty good price.

    please be nice

You seem like a lovely person.

  • I did not see that price coming anytime soon, did the aw34 even ever drop down that far? I think the 34 g8 oled at 1299 was as good as the last gen got.

I already have an lg 45 21:9 oled but the pixel density isn’t great on that. Will have to see it this wins out or if the 45 immersion is too hard to give up.

  • +1

I was eyeing this off at the 1500 price but didn't pull the trigger, couldn't resist with this price. Can't wait.

  • Bought one, cheers, don’t forget to add $10 discount coupon from Perks to make it $1198

  • I am SO GLAD I held off during the prime sales when this was available for $1,500. Good things come certainly come to those who are patient. Thank you OP!!! I love you

    • Update - To be delivered tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! woohoooo!!!!

  • The only two downsides for me are curved and no USBC, but the price is so tempting. I'm torn!!!

  • Looks to be OOS, no delivery options to metro Sydney

  • I bought one even though I already have full ultrawide setup. This price is just good.

  • This price is so good! So unlucky I am on holiday overseas at the moment :(

    • Not an excuse! Buy online and click & collect later

      • Can I click and collect in September? That’s when I am coming back! 🙏

        • You can message the store and request them to keep it till then

    • +3

Being on an overseas holiday is not unlucky. Focus on the positives.

Spend that $1208 on an experience while you are on holidays.

What country/city are you holidaying in at the moment?

  • Wow too bad the TCN 10% have finished

  • Ah the good old "that one time when I'm not checking ozBargain when I actually needed to" time.

    • +1

Gotta setup email alerts my friend

  • Ah I hesitated… now it’s OzBargained…

    • Me too, ended up getting it from Amazon for the same price :D

  • +6

I can see the same price on Amazon AU atm. Good luck!

    • You're the man!!

    • Oof. Thanks for the heads up!

      Hopefully I dont get a defective one…

    • Cheers grabbed the second last one in stock…

  • for those who purchased at higher price, may be can look at Price Protection from Credit Card

  • any1 know when they will be upgrading aw3423dwf to 240hz? if they will?
I like UW too much to go back to norm these days

    • Ordered one but not sure if it’s much of an upgrade from AW3821DW, the UW format is just so good

      • it will be an upgrade to 4k but you miss out on UW which is prob not worth it for me anyway…

  • None around Brisbane. I could pickup from Townsville or Warrambool.

Also out of stock on Amazon at that pricing. argh

  • annnnd they're gone

  • Shows 1519

  • Damn. would have pulled the trigger ona second one at that price

  • +2

Just contacted JB hi-fi support at 9 am and the deal ended right before 9am so they won't refunded the difference from 1500

    • well that ruins my plan

    • +1

Geez, very short sale window, wonder if price error!?

    • Hey mate, might be worth trying again, they processed a refund for me

    • I ordered in store with $1511 last weekend, it's just 4 days lol, never mind you can't get everything you want. At least we got the it on hand

      • After calling them and telling them the deal happened outside of support hours they said they would honour it as a favour so it's worth calling them

        • thanks mate, I made the call, mentioned the support hours, they said they can't adjust price with previous price, only current price.

    • Give it another shot, they processed my refund at 10am - an hour after chat support opened.
