  • Haven't personally tried these

But if you're at all tech minded and want a little project you can DIY one of these with a relay and node MCU in about an hour

  • How can we check which category it is under?
    Eg.
Is this under Home Improvement for 15% Shopback?

  • +1

My favourite feature is that I can now operate the door from my the CarPlay screen in the vehicle.

  • +5

Just a warning - I have a few of these and continue to have them lose connectivity to wifi with Unify access points - all other meross smart plugs etc never lose connection. There are a lot of people that have this issue, possibly an older wifi chipset in these units which makes them not stable. I would buy a ratgdo instead next time.

    • I don't have this unit but it looks like turning off the "BSS Transition" option (i.e., 802.11v) for 2.4 GHz bands helps as a workaround for some users.

      • +2

I have gone round and round with Meross support.. locked to channel 1, fixed IP… that helped a bit but they still drop off at some point and stop trying to connect. There are reports Meross had some developmental firmware they offered to some people but I have not been able to get it.

    • I have had one for 2 weeks now and has been rock solid. I have a Asus rt-ax86u wireless router, the meross controller is showing it has about 50% signal strength on 2.4ghz wifi. There is 3 double brick walls sitting in between the wifi router and the meross garage opener. Controlling it through home assistant it's always instant and very responsive.

  • Any smart device for sliding gate?

    • I think you can use this on a sliding gate motor but not sure. In the same boat.

      • +1

I believe you could potentially use these with sliding gates but bear in mind these aren't built for outdoor conditions. Hence you would have to work on some kind of adequate weatherproofed enclosure if this was to be done too

    • +1

So I managed to install the msg100 garage door opener on my sliding gate. Had to buy a 12v to 5 v step down convertor and some connectors but it works a treat with google voice and Alexa. I put together a YouTube vid of it if you would like to look at (PS my YouTube vids are truly hack, but pm me if you want a link)

      • +1

A few interested have pmd me for an install explanation. I have no affiliation with Meross, I make these vids for fun not for income. To save me answering the PM's on how to adapt this for sliding gate, feel free to check out https://youtu.be/hgEmGJlH_hw.

Cheers I have question though I opened up my control panel of the motor and seems there is like a meross device already installed but I suppose it’s for the old key chain remote. Can I have two cables in each terminal or stuck with one device working worthier the meross or the key chain remote. I’m convinced it’s taking up the required terminals

          Cheers

          • @attilex: Yes that should be ok. You should be able to connect in parallel. Insert red and black wires in the same terminal slots as the existing device. If any doubt, check with the gate slider door motor manufacturer, or if you have an eleccy mate, they could give you a steer too.

  • What do I need to make this work with CarPlay and Siri?
Will a HomePod Mini work? Or an old Apple TV?

Or is there a certain HomePod/Apple TV I need as a server?

    Thanks!

    • You need Apple TV (4th generation or later) or HomePod as a server to use this remotely (when not on home network) via Home app on phone. Alternatively you can use Meross app, which does not require you to be on the same network as the device.

      • Thanks! Do you know if the HomePod Mini will work?

        • I am not sure 100% sure about that

        • Homepod mini works. Just installed it for a friend

  • topcashback only tracked as 1% LOL

  • Any one fitted this with the added assessory to make their doors compatible?

  • can you use non-home kit with google

  • Does anyone know how often do these deals usually occur? I have been waiting for some time and could have sworn i was checking ozbargain everyday during july but somehow missed this post.
