@scrimshaw Thankyou very much! A while back, I was looking at some cameras like these but for out doors security, they ended up selling out before I made up my mind, but afterwards I realised that the mounting and installation would be too much of a headache for me personally and they would have likely sat in a box for a very long time.

But when I saw this deal on some indoor cameras, I figured I would give these a go, as the price is very good and the vast majority of the reviews are also very good.

I figured I can just position one of these to look out of the window and it will still offer some security monitoring and be much easier to setup, and having several of these units, also gives the bonus of some indoor security monitoring. Plus, now I can keep on eye on my cat while I'm away, apparently (via the phone app) I can speak to him through the camera too 😅😽

I also found some cheap SD cards on Amazon to go with them, it's a 2 pack of 128Gb Patriot brand for only $26, here is the link for those who might be interested, works out much cheaper than any other ones I saw.

I got 4 cameras and figured this will pretty much cover most of my unit and for a very low price, even with the 4 SD cards. So thanks again for posting this good deal, Cheers! 👍

BTW, for anyone who is wondering like me, these are not battery operated like some cameras that this brand offers. For some reason the Amazon page does not mention anything about what they run on, but I confirmed via a google search. Some good news though, is that (according to this website) they have a decent length power chord, review is for the 210 model, but they seem virtually identical:

    • After you have tried it out, can you advise if the night vision works well through the window? I have a cheaper indoor cam which I have positioned to view outside through a window but for some reason the night vision does not work through a window.

        https://reolink.com/blog/security-cameras-through-behind-win…

Infrared and color night vision security cameras are prone to wash out the picture when placing behind glass or window glass panels at night or in low light conditions. In those scenarios, you won’t be able to see things clearly.

To prevent glare on a surveillance camera looking through a window, users could turn off or disable IR lights as well as status lights at night, which helps mitigate IR security camera window reflection and enable you to see through glass or glass window screen.

Meanwhile, to reduce window glare and reflection, get the camera lens as close as possible against the glass when placed behind a glass window.

        • Ye I've done this and it works so long as there is enough light outside the glass to capture anything. Night time comes and it captures nothing unless a light is on outside. And you can't have it in a window that is in a room with a light on (meaning light that is brighter inside than it is outside).

just invested in the Tapo Eco system with some outdoor cams
Should i get this, or the C225 which for a single is about 70, however has 2k
I know this is cheaper, and thats due to the resolution, but keen on thoughts going this was or the C225 to complete my setup

Do the Tapo cam's annoy you to sign up for subscriptions like Wyze does?

    • +2

Nope. I'm running 6 Tapo cams right now with RTSP enabled without Internet access, all working flawlessly.

I put one of these in the garage, and I use it with Frigate. Impressive for the price.

how was Frigate? do you use free or pay 50 a year?
