      My favourite part is this:

Foreman has 12 children: five sons and seven daughters. His five sons are George Jr., George III ("Monk"), George IV ("Big Wheel"), George V ("Red"), and George VI ("Little Joey"). On his website, Foreman explains, "I named all my sons George Edward Foreman so they would always have something in common. I say to them, 'If one of us goes up, then we all go up together, and if one goes down, we all go down together!'"

      • I thought he said "it was easier to remember" after getting so manh knocks to the head πŸ˜… your one is way better. One of his daughters is Georgetta too.

    • George Foreman is well known to us boomers.

BigW doesn't participate in OnePass, do they?

Would this be too small? Or at $19, it can't go wrong?

    • +3

OnePass is for Kmart and Target

      • And catch

    • +3

      Would this be too small?

Depends what you are using it for - review states it's big enough for two sandwiches only.

    • +4

Onepass is only for Wesfarmers group… BigW is under Woolworths Group.

These are massive pains in the backside to clean.

I would strongly suggest just getting a grill pan like this instead.

Significantly easier to clean, and if you want to reduce the fat from your cooking, you can just drain it according to your needs.

It might cost a little bit more, but you'd save yourself a lot more than that in terms of time in the long-term.

And if you're somewhere with no stove and want an electric grill?

      • +13

Why the hell would you need an electric grill for Steamed Hams?

      • Just start a fire?

      • Go for the version that has removable grill plates (which I made the mistake of not getting a couple of years ago), or any 3rd party alternatives which allows you to do so.

    • +2

I would strongly suggest you get a real pan, like cast iron, stainless steel or carbon/blue steel. Depends on your cooking needs and abilities. Grill marks are for noobs.

That said, I've used a foreman grill in the past, and aside the fact that they're very much a different product to a pan that needs it's own heat source, they work suprisingly well.

      • Cast iron all the way

Use the sponge and they are easy

Negs seem harsh. I love big George and thought they were the perfect bachelor steak cooker but when I used them (admittedly 16 years ago so they may well have changed) I found the non stick surface is very sticky. My steaks in particular. And you can't remove the grill plates - you can only wipe them down.

Keen to know how others got around it.

I am in an apartment and I'd recommend something like the Breville Sear and Press grill. Hybrid sandwich press and electric grill. The plates are much easier to clean than the GF grills I had. Not only so they resist food sticking but you can throw the plates in the dishwasher.

      • Can say from experience just 2 years ago (and 15+ years ago) that not much has changed for the standard versions with non-removable plates.

    • Sadly Coles are fresh out of the FlyBuys grill pans for their current promotion

  • That's a nice grill.

I like the George Formby grill instead.

    Turned out nice again.

  • That code is the Everyday Extra subscriber monthly code I believe.

    • Is this the code the same as the once per month 10% grocery shipping, which can only be used once per month?

      • +1

You get one per month at Big W and one per month at Woolworths.

    Slathered in PFAS, lol.

    No thanks.

    • Some googleing suggests the coating is "stable, inert, non-reactive, non-toxic and are PFOA-free". Having said that I do prefer avoiding tefon when I can too.

      • +1

Hey, I'm happy to be stand corrected. I was looking around the shops earlier today and noticed some companies had picked up on these concerns, and decided to figure out a way to change their kitchen products. Either that, or they're just making it loud and clear that their products don't have any PFAS.

I came across this: Best (& Worst) Non-Toxic Indoor Kitchen Grills & Paninis Sans PFAS

I would dare say this GF grill probably does.

  • Teflon chemical coated junk
