  • Is this now the cheapest way to get Optus Sport for those not already with an Optus plan? $12 + $9.99 (from 1 Aug) = $21.99 compared to $24.99 monthly sub.

    • +3

For monthly yes, but you could buy a yearly Optus Sport plan for $199 without being an Optus Customer. You would save $64.88 compared to $21.99 x 12 months = $263.88.

The other option is buying a cheap Optus Prepaid plan, like this one $120 after cashback, if it becomes available again, then buying the Optus Sport addon for $12 for 28 days as you need it.

Or buy a cheap prepaid starter kit, for say $10 when they go on special, or might be cheaper ones on eBay etc. Then buy the Optus Sport addon for a month or 2 for $12ea.

  • Anyone knows if I can delay activating this plan by about a month?

    • Sign up in about a month

      • This deal might be expired by that time.

        • Expires 4th august

  • Had 2 $20 for the kids to keep optus sport cheap.
Now I have 2 x$12 plans instead and still keep rhe sport cheap
    Good deal

  • Does this have international roaming available?

    • +1

From the Critical Information Summary: "Using your service overseas with Optus Daily Roaming You cannot use your included calls, text and data if you are overseas. If you want to use your mobile broadband device when you're in Zone 1 destinations you'll need to activate Optus Daily Roaming for $5. No other roaming options are available on this plan. Optus Daily Roaming is auto-turned on, includes 5GB data for use within 24 hours or until you reach 5GB, whichever comes first. If you continue using your service, we'll automatically add another 5GB for $5"

My kids pay way too much on Telstra pre paid

Is it easy to switch some to this and they keep their number?

    • This is a data only plan.

      • Data-only plans usually have a phone number. You just can't dial out.

        • I know. But assuming if it's the kid's only number, they would probably need calls to their parents.

          • @shxhshzhz: dual sim phone and the flip $4 pm used along with this data plan?

    • Thank god for Optus in Australia. Reliable service at a third less than Telstra!

  • If you chat with them you can get it down to $5/month for the first 12 months.

      And say what?

    • +1

      But how?

    • +3

They actually offered me the plan for free for 12 month. But I didnt want to be that type of "customer" so I said no.

      • +1

Were you an existing customer? What did you ask for to get this?

        • -1

NBN rates was getting increased once again so I was asking what they can do there. Wasnt even talking about this plan but the customer rep just offered. He was being very helpful and why I'm a fan of Optus.

i'm still salty about them charging me for optus sport $6.99 a month. I've been on this $50 100gb per month plan for 10+ years and only 3 months ago they started charging me monthly for optus sport

  • interesting - would be good for my ipad my currently Sim is only 4G and struggles at some locations that I know is better supported with 5G infrastructure

    Optus network🤮

  • Does this allow data banking ?

    • Basically unlimited…so no
But you can add $5 daily full speed top up

  • Confirming you can get it down to $5 a month.

I was going to cancel as I don’t get reception at home at all with Optus. Had to go outside of my house on the road to receive 3G network as I’m borderline nature reserve area.

Explained the above to the CSO and was offered $7 and then subsequently brought down to $5. At this price, I thought I’d keep it for in case my Telstra have down days or hotspot it for when I work on the train.

  • this is data only correct no calls?

on $38/m with circles for approx 100gb a month.. is there anything better value than what I am getting?

    • +1

      Correct

    • felix for 3 months, then port out for a month, then port back in for 3 months. Rinse and repeat.

  • I ordered an esim said will be 15 Minutes
Haha typical Optus still waiting- and magically they charged my credit card 1 cent yesterday ;)
Not bad Optus not bad ! [ sarcasm]

The $12 charge is there now- pending

Not on my app but if I login to the Web page of my account it's there.

  • How likely is it that if I buy this and after a month or so go online to cancel it, would they still offer a reduction….

  • can use on 4G phone?

  • I didn't see anyone mention that you can get 3 months of Amazon Prime with this.

PSA: 2 years ago optus happily let all their customers' data get stolen

    • So did Medibank but you dont see them giving a f and doing anything to control it.

Are Aussies going without health insurance from the biggest player in the market?

  • Hi hoping someone can help me with this tonight, i want to get this deal for my parents as a cheaper alternative to NBN.
Can i put it into a wireless modem or something like that?

    • @i-Tight

Can i put it into a wireless modem or >something like that?
