  • Do we need ID requirements?

    • Hi jes,

Thank you for your question! Yes, ID requirements are necessary to comply with Indonesian government regulations for the SIM card activation process. To ensure the successful activation of your eSIM and IMEI unlocking, you are required to complete the form accurately and submit the necessary photos. All data you provide will only be used for activation purposes in accordance with the applicable regulations. Once the activation is complete, the data will be deleted within 60 days.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance.

      • If I purchase this esim, will the IMEI become permanently unlocked in Indonesia, or if I want it unlocked for use with all carriers do I still need to complete the online registration and show proof of purchase when I arrive in the airport?

Or does your process just allow the device on the network for 60 days?

  • Telkomsel was easily the best sim i used in Indo. 10/10 would recommend.

    • Thank you for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with Telkomsel in Indonesia. We appreciate your recommendation and are glad to know it worked well for you. If you need any assistance in the future, don't hesitate to reach out! 😊

  • what's the difference between eSim and normal sim. Do they work exactly the same and do you need to provide all the ID stuff with a normal sim? Thanks

    • The main difference between eSIM and a normal SIM card lies in how they work and are activated:

eSIM (Embedded SIM): This is a digital SIM embedded in your phone or device, so you don’t need to insert a physical SIM card. eSIM can store multiple carrier profiles, allowing you to switch between them without physically swapping SIM cards. Activation is typically done by scanning a QR code provided by the carrier or entering details manually.

Normal SIM Card: This is a physical card that you insert into your phone to connect to the carrier’s network. A normal SIM card can only store one profile at a time, and to switch carriers, you need to physically change the SIM card.

Regarding ID requirements, yes, both for eSIM and normal SIM cards, you generally need to provide identification to comply with local regulations, especially in countries like Indonesia. The required ID is used for SIM activation and network registration. However, for both types of SIM cards, providing ID is necessary.

Thank you for your question! If you need further clarification, feel free to ask.

While 70GB here is for $24 USD, physical sim at Telkomsel is only ~$6 USD and I think that can also be converted to eSIM later. Balisim is almost 4 times costlier with less data, why the difference?

    • you dont have to physically go to the store to do the id

      • They dont have to hire someone or 3rd party to collect the data either, eSIM saves them from these hassles too. If not cheaper then atleast should be same price, cosidering we are taking chances with our personal data.

        • or you can go to those small stalls and get the store rep to register the sim card with one of their ids and pay them extra

    • Thank you for your question! While it's true that 70GB at BaliSIM is $24 USD and a physical SIM at Telkomsel is around $6 USD, the prices we offer are adjusted to be competitive with other prices in the area, including those around the airport. So, if you compare the prices at BaliSIM, we’re in line with what’s available nearby, ensuring fair pricing for tourists.

If you’re able to find a physical SIM for that price at Telkomsel (around $6 USD), that’s definitely a great deal for tourists, and it might be worth purchasing there. However, when considering convenience, customer support, and bonuses like double 5G data, our prices remain competitive for those looking for a hassle-free experience while enjoying extra benefits.

No offense OP, but personally I'd be hesitant in providing my personal data (copy of passport) to people on the internet.

Personal data in Indonesia is non-existent. If you ever visit Indonesia, your data is accesible to public. They suffer from data breach every now and then and their official didn't really care about it.

      • Yupe, some are unavoidable as the government doesn't care about it . But I am not going to flaunt it even further through other unnecessary means. It is bad enough as it is already.

    • No offense, but we understand your concern. As an official Telkomsel reseller, we ensure that all personal data, including passport copies, is handled with the utmost care and security. Your information is safe with us, and we follow strict protocols to protect your privacy. We are committed to providing a secure and trustworthy service for all our customers.

      • I trust the company but I dont trust the people.

Indonesia government has the worst cyber security team, their government data are breached all over. So be careful before you provide any important documents to any Indonesia agencies.

If you are tourists, you can buy a tourist sim when you arrive, AUD$15 for 25GB, https://www.telkomsel.com/en/perdana/tourist-prepaid-card

    • Thank you for the information! This is the official Telkomsel site, where you can order a Telkomsel tourist SIM card, then pick it up and pay for it directly at a GraPARI location around Denpasar.

If you're more comfortable with an offline pick-up and payment process at a Telkomsel office, this link could be the right option for you. But if you have plenty of time, it's better to purchase directly through the official Telkomsel link. It's not only more convenient, but you can ensure everything follows their terms.

However, if you're looking for an easier option without the hassle, buying from an official Telkomsel reseller like BaliSIM is also a good choice, as the registration process remains the same.

Many people choose to buy from BaliSIM after they arrive in Bali, after comparing prices with eSIM stores around the airport. So, if you're one of them, we'd be happy to assist you!

Additionally, you can get a bonus of double 5G data, 2 times the normal amount, for free, which you can see on our website. This means you can save up to 50%!
