Finally in the same ball park as the sales last year.

Even better than this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/852940

  • Looking to enhance my photo processing workflow by using this drive to import pics, edit and then backup to NAS. Not sure whether to get this or the 4TB Lexar NM790 from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/852867

    • +7

      Lexar is much faster

    • wonder the same! I can either swap a 500gb 860 with this 4tb 870, or add a 4tb nvme to current 1tb nvme (my itx mb can support 2 nvme)

      • +4

Go nvme every day. Get rid of sata . Even crappy nvme is way faster

        • It depends on your use cases, if you plan to have a large amount of data copied to QLC drive (regardless of nvme or SATA), it may be painfully slow, like below HDD speed.

    • do you mind sharing the interface between this and the NAS?

  • Just what I need for a heap of RAID. Thanks.

  • Am I stupid, where do you apply the code?

    • click redeem on the product page, then it's applied at checkout

      • +2

Interesting, it doesn't show it when I'm logged in, though it does when I'm not.

Good find op, have an upvote.

D'Oh! Bought this yesterday for $290.31 Chatted to Amazon Customer Service to see if they'd refund the different. No joy!

    • +18

You spent your time talking to Amazon customer rep to claim $4 back on a $290 ssd purchase?

If this wasn’t sarcastic, I’ll never understand people lol

      • +12

        average ozbargain moment

      • -4

Took all of a couple of minutes. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

      • +1

Now it’s $281, better get back on chat for another $3 lol

      • +1

I’m with you. I do not get some people. He’s happy to spend almost $300, but then squabbles over $4. Crazy.

    • -3

I placed another order and will return the first one. I paid $299

  • You might be fine but as someone who has had to RMA 2x 970s and 2x 980s there is no way I'd be buying Samsung anymore, especially from overseas

    • +6

I've got 4x Samsung 1TB 980 Pro's and all are rock solid. Same for my single 1TB 990 Pro ( They all have heat sinks and are over 1 year old )

      I've had two Samsung 250GB 830 EVO 2.5" Drives die.. but also 1x Intel 250GB. 1x Corsair 250GB and 1x Sandisk 240GB

These 2.5" SATA SSD drives latest at least 7+ years before they died.. so not too bad if you ask me.
Never had a Crucial drive die.. they are immortal :)

Going off a sample of around 40 PC's running 24/7 in an office environment

    • Literally have hundreds of these strewn across customer sites and never had to RMA a single one. Did you get yours from AliExpress or something? ;)

  • +1

argh i really want this as i need a new steam drive but cash is tight

    • +1

Second hand 4tb 3.5” 5 year old drive it is for you mister

      • You cant find 3.5" mechanical drives going through PC's in the trash these days.. doesn't get cheaper then that. Only cost is two feed and a heart beat.

        • But how much are the feeds

    • chuck the money on black 😂 /jjjj

    • Just wait for a gen 3/ cheap gen 4tb nvme to go on sale . Beats this every day of the week. Like the WD last week

  • Hows warranty work with Amazon UK

  • +1

got 3 of these with bitlocker enabled and utilizing jbod's via storage spaces, very reliable and fast. have it backed up to a 20TB HDD.

  • +1

Been waiting for one this cheap. Thanks OP.

  • +3
  • If i dont need the speed or brand can i buy other 4tb at cheaper price?

  • Was kicking myself didnt buy from the last deal-thanks OP. bought 1

    • Cancled the order, still got 2 M.2 slots, probrably waiting for a deal on the M.2. hoping the old NM790 $255 deal will be back soon ish.

      • +1

Not gonna happen as per the Lexar rep.

Get the $299 lexar quickly at $299.

  • +2

    Just a reminder:
Prime Day is only a few weeks away (starts 16/07/24).

Let's hope they have some amazing deals this year. They'll have to work hard as retail sales have been flat for a while.

    • Thanks for reminder!

    $900 extra for 8TB Samsung 870 QVO 2.5' SSD SATA3 6GB/s 560/530MB/s R/W 98K/88K IOPS 2880TBW 1
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/204795099311

    • +1

yours is QVO is worse than EVO

      • -1

        I'm not saying it's a good deal

  • I have a 870 Evo 500GB with only 140GB total writes and it’s showing 99% health meanwhile my 990 Pro with 6TB written is still at 100% health. Not too sure about the longevity of these.

    • What size is your 990 Pro? A 500GB 870 Evo has 300TBW endurance, while a 2TB 990 Pro can have a 1200TBW endurance rating. Higher capacities have more and different flash/controller revisions may have more or less.

  • +3

    It's over. $549.44

  • +2

Now is $377.44 after the promo code

  • not sure if the coupon code isn't working as intended anymore but after "KNMVCZXXB" applied to the original $549.44 it's showing up as $377.44 for me.

  • +1

Ended up getting the 4TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4×4 NVMe for $299 inc shipping from BPC

  • Would these be suitable for a Synology NAS 8 bay?

    • They can be used, but it wouldn't necessarily be the best use of an SSD if your Synology isn't leveraging 10GbE.

The only real benefit you would get is slight noise reduction.

  • +2

Still available and now price is $281.85 after discount.

  • damn sucks this is only limited to 1 quantity but yeah this is the best price I have ever seen for this item let alone any ssd ever

im thinking maybe if making another amazon au account would work in this instance.. probably not if I only have one debit card to use

    • Do it.
      The card doesn't matter.

      • Lost motivation maybe next time damn good deal though but there will definitely be more and I'm patient.. I'm more trying to decide which mechanical hard drive I'm going to pick for now

  • Batteries ‎1 Lithium Ion batteries required.

    really?

  • Why doesnt it show for me when logged in?

  • Looks like it's all gone…

    • Yeah big sad :( just as my SSDs were all filling up too.

  • 1 at a time is little use…need 4 matching! Holding on for better deals/prices….all EOFY markups at the moment….

  • These Amazon prices are shitting me, they lower the price to something reasonable for just a few hours and then the price goes up 60-100%.
