Could OP please list at least one e-bike with 41%off and not out of stock? If not, that is a fasle post.

Hi Rep, do these bikes have steel spokes and cranks?

I'd recommend to never buy a bike with steel spokes and cranks, it's always the 1st thing to start rusting.

    • Huh? All bikes (almost) have steel spokes. What are you talking about?
Steel crank arms are rare these days, but weren't they normally painted or plastic coated?

If you don't want rust, don't store your bike outdoors.

    [Rapid Flatbar RRP $379.99 NOW $199.99] (https://www.reidcycles.com.au/products/reid-rapid-flatbar-bl…)

Why are you comparing to RRP when you do not normally sell these for RRP.

This is considered deceptive and misleading price comparisons under ACCC laws…

    eg
    https://www.reidcycles.com.au/collections/adult-bikes-under-…
    https://web.archive.org/web/20240328060040/https://www.reidc…
Normally sold for $299 and not $379
That is 30% off and not 50% off

    • -2

      30% off? That's a decent bargain

      • +6

        That's not the point though…

Misleading people when posting the deal is not on….

Always a good idea to ignore the strikethough pricing, and Reid has long been unethical in their advertising. That said, it looks like a good bike for the price, and will suit a lot of people for short commutes or exercise.

Many people reading this deal post may not be aware… Doesn't hurt to point it out…

Very dubious post history, 6 out of 7 previous posts have negs and lots of warnings about fake prices and terrible customer service. Proceed with caution!

  • Any recommendations for a bike for my wife. Something for weekend rides

What happened to you Reid cycles? you used to be very cool and had somewhat good prices and promos 10 years ago, now it's almost depressing looking at these deals and the website

    • +3

They need to 'Reid the Room…..'

    • Definitely agree. I wonder if they just expanded too much, looks like they've scaled back to a single store again

      • They were even referenced as the Aldi for bicycles. Remember buying quite a few things from them with the $10 coupons shared here.

  • +1

Website is a nightmare. Trying to check what bikes they actually have to sell is hard in the size I need. On sale or not. A medium sized MTB is what I want yet I can't even view a page that shows me what is available.

    • Also don't seem to list the weight limit of their bicycles.

      • They do, it's just very hidden in a stupid place. you have to go to Customer Service > Help Centre > Frequently Asked Questions > Is there a weight limit for Reid Bikes.

    • Two of the best value MTB are XDS E-RUPT 3.0/4.0 as low as $2149 from various dealers. The 3.0 is well spec'd for $2679. Both leave Reid's E-Trail 2.0 for dead.

      https://www.engadinecycles.com.au/products.php?cmd=search&ke…

      • Like for like, let's say based on wheels (29") and you're nearly $700 over the Reid.
        Reckon it's worth it?

Only small frame at $1999 if that suits, Medium, Large, XL $2499.
For extra $180 you get much better kit on E-Rupt 3.0.
          - Shimano 10S Deore derailleur
          - Shimano MT400 brakes
          - Dropper post
          - Bafang G520 43v motor, 3A charger
          - LBS support

          • @Tradey: That's a lot of spec for the bigger frames — totally worth the $180.

They shut down their Brisbane shopfront so they dishonoured their 'complimentary first service' to those in QLD who bought off them

    • When I purchased a Falco Elite at the closing down sale I was told to contact customer service and they will arrange the first service elsewhere. The seat post clamp broke on my bike (it was torqued correctly but misaligned from new), customer service posted a replacement very quickly. So it's an OK for me

Nothing but bad experiences with Reid, I highly suggest buying a second hand brand-name bike rather than wasting your time and money on the awful quality bikes Reid sell. Don't think the warranty or Australian consumer law will be of any use, as they will go out of their way to avoid rectifying any issues you may have.

  • Nothing but positive experiences with Reid. One was an entry-level mountain bike from their eBay account. $185 delivered and it's tackled some gnarly intermediate trails and nothing has broken or fallen off.

A pair of tyres for my older bike too. All went perfectly and wife loves her bike!
