Bonus Mystery Flight & Overnight Stay When You Buy 6 Bottles of Jacobs Creek Cool Harvest

2450

I need a drink, man…I need a holiday
I need some time off with the missus for a coupla days away
We buy 12 bottles…of this Jacobs Creek
And score a flight and a hotel for a 60 dollar fee

You buy 6 bottles…you get 1 night away
But best to hook up with a friend - it doubles up to a 2 night stay
Buy the drinks now…until December
Book by new years then you travel from February til November

Ten bucks per wine…and it tastes pretty good
Throw in a holiday…tastes ten times better than it should
Check out the terms…this is for real
Don't hold back cause you should know this aint my first Ozbargain deal

http://bonusmysteryflight.com.au/terms.php

OK - now that I've got that out of my system…oh, and this better not be a dupe, cause it took me ten minutes to come up with that.

  • 1 nights accommodation plus return flight for 1 person, or 2 nights plus return flights for 2 people (linked booking) in 3.5 to 4 star hotel
  • $30 booking fee applies per person
  • The offer commences on 1 November 2012 and closes on 30 November 2012
  • Each Mystery Trip must be booked by 31 December 2012 and must be taken between 1 February 2013 and 30 November 2013 (inclusive)
  • Travel ‘blackout’ periods applying including the periods between 13 March 2013 and 18 March 2013 (inclusive) and between 28 March 2013 and 2 April 2013 (inclusive)

I bought 2 x 6 packs for $120, so for me and the wife, it is a total of $180 for 12 bottles of wine plus 2 nights accommodation with return flights :)

We scored ours over a public holiday, and friends have theirs booked in the school holidays.

Took about 7 working days from first sending off for the deal to getting confirmation of our dates of departure.

The guys from the bottle shop said the Jacobs Creek rep advised the trips from Perth will be with Virgin to Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne…not sure about other cities.

The stickers may be in an envelope under the counter, although most of my friends have found stickered bottles.

Looks to be 5 different varieties of Cool Harvest:

http://www.jacobscreek.com.au/wines/cool-harvest

It's also advertised in the latest Cellarbrations catalogue…page 4:

http://images.lasoomedia1.com.au/imageicon/clb/prod/j0052293…

And no, this is not a competition - I have had 14 friends and family jump on this already, and got this response from the Jacob Creek reps:

"all participants that satisfy the entry conditions and have a valid claim will receive the offer as outlined"

    that's cool,

do you know where flights would be from sydney?

    • +8

      Probably Canberra!

      • +3

        I heard Kangaroo Island…

    • +1

I'd laugh it was from Sydney>Bankstown or Sydney>Richmond…. perhaps the now rarely used Albion Park airport.

  • "I bought 2 x 6 packs for $120, so for me and the wife, it is a total of $180 for 12 bottles of wine plus 2 nights accommodation with return flights :)"

    Plus $30 x 2 for booking fee?

    Looks like a good deal..

    • He's already taken into account the booking fee in the $180 cost

      • +5

Ugh I'm retarded. My math skills are awesome.. My bad!

        • +2

This is OZbargain. It should be maths, not math. Seems trivial, but we're not American, yet.

        • +2

Go easy on him. He has briefly "dated" Paris Hilton.

    • Why the vote down? I wasn't taking the piss, was just checking that facts were all correct.

I was being serious when I said "looks like a good deal"

      • +2

Let 'em have a cheap neg or two, for some of these guys that's all the power they've got! :p

      • HAHAHA 'taking the piss' :D

    • $120 for 12 bottles ($10 each), then 2 x $30 booking fee totalling $180.

      • @Kirt,

Have you been advised of your flight times? I'm a bit it wouldn't be fun catching the 6am flight out of syd!

        • +2

Yep - 5:30am out of Perth, and 5pm return from ???

        • Anyone from Perth would score value in this… !

        • It;ll probably be a red eye. I think they generally are out of perth. Those are the cheap seats.

One complaint - not against the deal, but against the rip off that is perth airport.

Let's say I go off on my own for one night. It would be three days parking, maybe ywo.
I will pay more to park at the fricking perth airport than for my ticket and accom.

        • +1

Hope they enjoy the 2 nights in Paraburdoo.

        • They wouldn't put those flights on. Too much demand from the mining companies. I would dearly love to use this to go to Paraburdoo.

  • Bought the last two marked packs from my local liquor store on Sunday and sent the details off yesterday. Looking forward to seeing where the flight from Sydney will be to. It is a great promotion and wine not too bad either.

  • +1

Btw millzy, it wasn't me that negged u. I haven't negged anyone yet :-)

    • -4

Cheers buddy and thanks for the deal! Need to rush off from work and grab a couple packs.

  • good deal but too bad i don't drink white wine… still got nearly a carton left over from my wedding last year!

    • +1

      Chrissy presents?

      • did that last year… lol

        • +2

          lol

Surely even if you came home and poured them down the sink you would still be much better off then booking this normally? $180 for 2 people for 2 nights with return flights. Epic saving regardless of where your going, yeah?

    • I dont either but the Rose is quite nice

  • +2

I voted up just cause of the poem post in the beginning! Would be good to know where Sydney flights are to.

    point 21 of t&c

By participating in this offer, a Claimant also acknowledges that a further primary purpose for collection of the Claimant's personal information by the Promoter is to enable the Promoter to use the information to assist the Promoter in improving goods and services and to contact the Claimant in the future with information on special offers or to provide the Claimant with marketing materials via any medium including mail, telephone and commercial electronic messages (SMS (Short Message Service), MMS (Multimedia Message Service), IM (Instant Messaging) and email) or any other form of electronic, emerging, digital or conventional communications channel whether existing now or in the future. The Promoter may share information with its Australian related companies or promotional partners who may contact the Claimant with special offers in this way. By participating in the offer, a Claimant acknowledges and agrees that the Promoter may use the Claimant's personal information in the manner set out in this condition.

    • +1

that's a standard consent in almost every big company marketing offer these days. hey, they need to get something in return as well for their marketing dollar. worst case, you just unsubscribe to the Spam..

      • mmh well you are giving them some pretty premium info as a part of this offer.

More likely would actually be that you get physical mail/calls/spam for life from companies interested in wine drinkers. I wouldn't bet on being able to subscribe from such either.

Put it this way - they didn't say they value your privacy, so you shouldn't expect them to.

    • They will sell your info to debt collectors and other companies in simple terms. Some big massive pool of data companies buy into to update their records (debt collectors) and promote products (brands + promos).

      Cracking deal though

  • Cool promotion… what's the wine like? :)

    • +2

We got a mix of the rosé, sparkling, and the sauvignon blanc, and all three were pretty decent…bonus!

  • Do you get to select dates?

    • +1

You choose 3 different departure dates and they allocate you one, and no, you don't get FF points:

"The Claimant may not accrue frequent flyer points."

      • Hi Kirt do you know if they choose the 3 date options or do we choose them? Also is the departure city nominated by us or them? And once they have confirmed the date is it right that they dont tell you where you are going until 3 days before departure? Sorry for all the questions but I got burnt with one of these style promos years ago when I was living in the UK and got offered a flight from Manchester when I was in London…

        • +3

do you know if they choose the 3 date options or do we choose them

You nominate the 3 dates, then they allocate you one of them. We got our third choice (all 3 of our choices were public holidays), but most of my friends got their first or second choices.

is the departure city nominated by us or them

You nominate it…there were about 10 to choose from.

once they have confirmed the date is it right that they dont tell you where you are going until 3 days before departure

Yep, although you might be able to work out the destination using the dates and times they give you ;)

        • Anyone have any luck in Perth, I'm trawling stores like a down on his luck alco and haven't found any yet.

        • ehh so hang on..u r not guaranteed a departure city?

        • oh wait..im guessing u mean u nominate it..and thats that.
          my bad

        • im guessing u mean u nominate it..and thats that.

Yep - it is a drop down list from memory.

  • -1

I wonder if you can get ff points

    • Depends on the inventory used! :)

  • +6

Good post. Can't believe it took someone 3 weeks to spot and post the deal! Started 1 Nov.

    • +4

      I know…….Shame on Everyone!

      • lol shame on whom said shame ….

  • +2

Better still….buy the wine, send the Missus packing and enjoy a Boys Night sans nagging.

    Destination: Christmas Island

  • What if they give you, lets say Sydney flight and hotel in nearCanberra?

    • Then at least you get to go to the National Art Gallery, the War memorial, Parliament House, the Questocon, or if you're luck Floriade.

      • don't forget the botanic garden

  • +4

Incidentally, everyone I know who has done it so far, has scored a departure flight before 7am, and a return flight after 4pm, so you get maximum time in your destination :)

    Edit:

…and a few couples selected identical dates, and it looks like they are all on the same flight.

    • +5

"shall we share the wines" one might ask on that flight. "How about the wife" one answer.

  • +1

    Come oooon trip to Perth!

  • Hoping for a trip to Perth from Sydney as well

  • -5

    can you bring kids>?

    • +4

Hahaha im laughing cos someone negged you.

  • Does each person do it individually then you do the linked booking after you registered?

    • +3

Yep - you apply as individuals…input each persons details into the claim website, then send in 1 envelope each with 1 receipt and 6 stickers, then they send you an email with a link to book the dates.

Initially I was told you both have to go to that link and put in each others claim number, but we found out that only 1 of us had to do that (there is a space to input a second claim number that then links the 2 together).

      • Uh oh! I bought 12 on the one receipt.. will that matter?

        • no. just do 2 claim online, you need two id numbers.

      • Does it have to be separate envelopes?

  • Could OP please kindly list departure ports and available destinations?

    • From memory, departures were all capitals, plus places like Newcastle, Cairns, Gold Coast etc.

Destinations…well that is the mystery part ;)

    • +3

      Its in the deal link:
one (1) adult return economy airfare to a mystery destination in Australia from one of the following airports: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Hobart, Port Macquarie, Launceston, Darwin, Cairns, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Broome, Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Canberra, Rockhampton, Albury, Balina Byron, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast, Mackay (inclusive of airfare related taxes and charges)

      • -1

Well in the terms and conditions anyway (that's how you work out the "mystery prizes" from a promotion since it has to be registered)

        You forgot this :)
one (1) night three and a half to four (3.5 – 4) star accommodation at the mystery destination in Australia (twin share) (or similar).

  • Hey kirk

I was told by the bottle shop it could be kalgoolie and Broome or geraldton also?

Also how do you get the deal for two people can you do it under one booking? For two flights and two nights

    Cheers mate

    • where'd you find them sambo, the hunt is killing me.

    • I was told by the bottle shop it could be kalgoolie and Broome or geraldton also?

I was told differently, and so far none of my fiends flight times fit in with anything except for Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne, so it appears to be correct.

Saying that, I'd love to go back to Exmouth ;)

Also how do you get the deal for two people can you do it under one booking? For two flights and two nights

You apply separately, then link when you pick the dates…see here:

      • many thanks to kirt.

        just wondering.

what is the def of 'household' for claim purposes (t&c.11 - Where two (2) members of the same household wish to redeem their Mystery Trip, both members may book their Mystery Trips simultaneously in order that they will both be on the same flight and they will receive one (1) night of accommodation each, being two (2) nights in total if the two (2) members of the same household share a room.)

if the +1 has a different address, is this going to be a problem during the booking/linking process for the 2 nights? or is the linking of the claim numbers independent of address supplied at claim time?

        • +1

the linking of the claim numbers independent of address supplied at claim time?

I am certain it is this - you link the booking via claim numbers, but to confirm, just send them an email:

          [email protected]

I've sent them about 20 emails, and they are very quick to respond ;)

  • +5

don't forget to use ING Paywave at Liquorland or Dans Murphy for 5% cash back :)

    • Are they part of this promotion?

      • it's nothing to do with this promo, just double dipping :)

    • +2

Using the ING Paywave saves 5% on the purchase price of the wine. An even cheaper holiday!

      • eg $53.60 for 6 with ING Paywave at DM - if any stock with stickers.

  • •one (1) adult return economy airfare to a mystery destination in Australia from one of the following airports: Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle, Hobart, Port Macquarie, Launceston, Darwin, Cairns, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Broome, Airlie Beach, Proserpine, Canberra, Rockhampton, Albury, Balina Byron, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast, Mackay (inclusive of airfare related taxes and charges). The destination will be notified to the winner no more than three (3) days prior to the Claimant's departure date;

Most likely departure will be from a major city to a regional centre. This way accommodation costs will be kept to a minimum. Might even have to go on a propeller aircraft.

  • Hey guys, I got 12 bottles (2 boxes in one purchase) is it still possible to claim for 2 people and 2 nights with the link booking? do I scan the receipt and send it twice or do I send in 12 promo tags with the one receipt?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    • fail, read the terms.

    • send two forms, 1 receipt, 12 stickers all in 1 envelop

  • +3

Anybody know special magic incantations or spells to use on the retards at BWS, First Choice or Liquorland…I stopped on my way home & they don't know nuffin'? :s

    • +1

Yeah my old man went to quite a few and got nowhere, but Cellarbrations are actually advertising it, so you should be ok with those guys.

We got ours from IGA Liquor, and the drop down list on the claims website has every major liquor store listed, plus "Other".

      • So can you buy unmarked bottles of cool harvest or do they have to be "specially marked?"

        • I got told by a Celebrations that it's an online promotion and unmarked is fine but I'm not convinced

        • +3

Considering you must send in 6 of those labels I dont think so either.

        • You need to send in 6 stickers per person…our local had unmarked bottles with the stickers in an envelope behind the counter, but most of my other friends bought bottles with the stickers on them, and peeled them off and sent them in.

        • Yep, I will take the scenic route tomorrow & chase up Cellarbrations, thanks guys! :)

  • +1

What if all 12 are on the one receipt?

    • +1

Might still be ok…email or call them:

      [email protected]

      1300 553 328 between 9.00am - 5.30pm AEST Mon-Fri.

      • Walked back and he did it in 2 transactions!
Bottle-o in reservoir (next to Coles) has 6 labels at counter and a few boxed with labels in them.

  • I've cleared out Dan Murphys Southern River WA, and had to get one more bottle to get my dozen from Dan Murphys Kelmscott WA. There's three more bottles at Kelmscott as of 20 mins ago :)
