  • How many BTU on the burners?

    • Are you using it for heating?

      • No, but the crappy one I inherited in my house takes ages to even get water for pasta to sustain boil. You would get it if you ever had the experience with cheap crapy cook tops.

Faster to boil water in the kettle and then pour into your saucepan.

  • I'd say use gas appliances until they break or it's economic to decommission, but there's no way in 2024 I'd be willingly installing new gas appliances.

Not in a new build. But if gas is already installed, it is just a quick swapover. Adding wiring for induction can be expensive.

      • Unfortunately this is true. Folks just reno'ed their kitchen and to install an electric stovetop they'd need to run a new circuit from their panel which simply isn't worth the labour and cost :(

        • i ended up spending $1000 for installation, setup and running new wiring from the panel…

In my case however, my gas freestanding cooktop was dying… 2/5 hobs working, electric oven was triggering the fuse each time so we ended up upgrading to induction as it was the last gas appliances in the house and capped the gas connection completely.

          • @meong: Exactly. I wouldn't sign myself up to years ahead with gas. As they die, change to electric and one by one delete gas appliances. When they are all gone, close the gas account and save service fees. With solar on the roof too, it makes sense to electrify. Can't generate gas at home and the price of gas is just going further and further up.

  • Does include lpg conversion kit for those on bottle gas
