Cheaper than a PI, and faster. Uses a bit more power but that's about it.
These have a PCIe slot on them as well but there is a little fiddling around and correct wattage PSU to get it to work.
Judging by the pictures, how would you access the ports of a PCIe card on the back though? There don't seem to be any cutouts in the case.
@mathemagician: The side panel can slide off, and the a punch out in the metal panel
@kogi: Ah nice. Add a card with 4 Ethernet ports and this little thing could be a great router!
@mathemagician: eh, not secured, so a bit janky
@mathemagician: I got one of these with the impossible to find addons for this very purpose.
The problem is even with a low profile bracket the card doesn't fit so I have to file away a small part of the case.
Like I mentioned above there is a bit of fiddling around without the addons and the proper PSU:

Hmm maybe I'll pass then. Not up for filing things down lol
I'm sure there are better options that are still compact and don't need any DIY mods.
@mathemagician: The Topton boxes are great for this purpose
@TightLikeThisx: Just had a look, they look good but pricey. Any expandable ones though? Max I saw is 2 ethernet ports.
@mathemagician: There are others. Look on their aliexpress store:
@untech do you have anything fanless with 8gb of ram?
They have these: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/266742933998 ($74.10 after PLUSF22
).
nice option
More expensive than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/835835 for lower specs unfortunately
Good catch, didn't realise the CPU was lower spec and nearly bought one.
Hmm, tempted to buy to play clone hero on the TV.
Ah, no HDMI?
I had a Veriton before as media PC, just used a DP to HDMI dongle or cable.
Give Fortnite Festival a go if you're fiending for some current day GH/RB on the tele. Doesn't compare to the full old school setlist setup, but there's more often than not a couple banger songs in rotation whenever you boot it up.
I've already ordered one, so my questions will get answered in the end lol.
But does this version have a space for a 2.5" sata ssd?
Is the m.2 NVME compatible on this, or just sata?
Does the displayport support audio out?
Does this come with x2 4gb ram, or 1x 8gb?
Do we know if the wifi slot supports the latest wifi 7 intel chips? be201 or whatever?
Are the antennas internal?
Does this come with tpm 1.2 or 2.0?
Seems like a good deal indeed, especially since windows 11 listed the requirements for iot enterprise LTSC… π
Yes (but probably won't have the cage for it), yes (NVME), yes, dunno with this one, I think it will, yes (one of each, internals and an external I think), I think it is 2.0
*with zero assurance

In addition to the 128GB SSD?
I see no mention of m.2.
I thought displayport always supports audio out.
I can't see any external mounts on the pictures.
Though as you said, you'll soon see.
acer do not really publish any pdf service manuals unlike tier 1 lenovo dell or hp
which is why they are not tier 1 lol
but you can go on resources like this:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264565835718
https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/588318/the-acer-verβ¦
https://us.v-cdn.net/cdn-cgi/image/fit=scale-down,width=1600β¦
looks like it has a 2280 and a 2230 - both should be nvme given its 7th gen and not even acer would pull off sata (yes?)
also sata 3.0 normal 2.5 header
for the money its well worth it
The m.2 storage slot is SATA only. I have one.
How to automate it and use it to earn back $87?
Between 11am - 2pm everyday ππ
As long as you get 500 followers on X, and have premium, you can get paid subscribers.
Just link your stripe account.
You can automate your posts way ahead of time.
Like ppl think I'm posting on X right now, I'm not, I'm on ozbargain. π
They have subscriber-only audio spaces already.
But the main thing I see this as is a device that can quicksync a h.264 stream to X, cuz whether gaming or elseπ (he allowed OF stuff a couple weeks back), those will also be subscriber-only capable soon too.
So I could stream those new N64 recompilations, retro games, or just use a capture card for nintendo/console.
The 7th gen intels are the first that can decode vp9 and 10 bit H265 iirc, and luckily the AV1 cpu decoder dav1d is very good, and this CPU has AVX2 and hyper-threading, so I think it's got the oomph to have no issue with YouTube and maybe even 4K60 av1 playback going forward, IDK.
But maybe one problem would be 4K at 2x speed, cuz that's up to 4K120, would definitely max the CPU I reckon.
interesting answer with some thoughts!
any more?
I am just thinking of crawling bing rewards.
How does that work? What do you gain?
Good for home assistant despite no hdmi?
Why do you need HDMI for home assistant?
more for convenience - dont need an adapter
Whilst i know not every monitor has Display Port, don't most? Or, surely you have a screen with VGA just kicking around somewhere? You could get one for free on any hard rubbish drop :)
Is a remote install out of the question? Just use any device you already have and there's your screen
I run home assistant virtualised in proxmox, on a server with absolutely no video output
When I need it which is like 3 times ever, I plug in a video card
can I recycle / or will it auto activate the windows 10 pro license into the proxmox? Or I need another license ?
I don't know I am not using windows. I am running home assistant OS as a VM.
The license keys for these are stored in UEFI so you should be able to recycle them, if you are running proxmox, just run
strings /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/MSDM
in proxmox terminal, and your windows license key will be displayed and ready for reuse
@crankyjay: Great thanks
Can it be updated to Win11?
No.
It can if you modify your install media to ignore the CPU check and TPM check.
I've heard the latest LTSC release doesn't have these same requirements, but you'll have to consult other sources as it's (officially) enterprise only.
how long could it be delivered?
6 meters
much more than that.. from Mel to Syd
I have two intel based Acer pcs of the same vintage, with m.2 boot drives. Neither can handle drives greater than 256G.
Not sure it this is an issue here, but I'm gonna do it….
I done it. Thanks OP
How is the Linux support for these mini PCs? Flawless?
Yup.
7th Gen, should mean H265 10Bit encode and Decode support in QuickSync.
Makes it fairly 'modern' as far as commonly required features on a low end client machine goes :)
Good deal.
Yep, using a NUC with this spec for an Emby server and it's handling everything brilliantly so far
These have a PCIe port on the side and can be turned into a janky NAS with some upgrades.
sold out…
Damn, please let me know if you're restocking OP
are there any of these cheap low power wyze boxes with dual NIC at all?
Nice deal OP.
Any plans for a laptop deal?
Thanks just bought one
I purchased this one instead https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/155406142295 after eBay plus coupon - about $78
That's a better option if you need multiple, cause it's another 15% off if you buy more than 1
I am going to use it as an office PC for general tasks - so a bigger SSD and a better processor sealed the deal for me. Here is hoping I can upgrade it to 16gb
Yeah the bigger SSD sold it for me, I'm planning on building a distributed s3 storage cluster with them using this https://garagehq.deuxfleurs.fr/
Cost for 3 was $215.98 delivered, and the slim CD drive at the bottom looks like can be used to expand 1 more SSD.
Just purchased one - great alternative to a Raspberry Pi if all you want is a low power Linux box.
Great little machines, I have 3 of these (not from this deal); there's a full sized PCIE slot on the side to run 4 port NICs or GPUs
You can print a bracket here -> https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5594346
@untech do these come with 90w or 65w psu?
Hey all, this may be a super silly question but I only have a Mac and I am keen for a Windows computer to be able to do things like play Red Alert 2 on Steam.
Is something like this capable of that or should I be looking at other options?
Any help would be great.
Cheers
red alert should be fine, I hvnt tried it though,
otherwise you need dedicate video card;
guess mini pc couldn't install dedicated one without adapter , quite clumsy;
Anyone else here who bought one of these - how awesome are they! Been playing some RTS games including 0AD (Linux). Processor and machine in general punches above it's weight for sure.
Great little box for the price! Good for running a pihole type service and or shared media amongst other things.
I use something similar to run small services on my network which doesnt require my server on. Idles at a much less concerning wattage.
