  • I wonder how low they will go. I think the Chinese Car Makers have Elon in their sights and are out to crush his American dream. BYD will fight till the end as they can afford to make cars for a pittance. I think it is only time before we just order a BYD online and it is delivered to our door by car transporter.

BYD don't need to lose money to compete with Tesla because BYD are a simple car company.

Tesla need to deal with American politics, self driving, a huge software development team as well as Elon's bad decisions.

BYD are first and foremost a battery manufacturer. Making cars is a recent decision.
But K feel they will grow.

        • BYD have been manufacturing vehicles for almost 20yrs!

    • It's just over $2x,xxx in many countries.

So a family bought a car, it broke down, and is getting fixed under warranty. The service from the dealer wasn't great.

Why is this an article ? This happens to someone every. single. day.

Seems like news.com.au always trying to report negative news on BYD EVs.

      • +2

There's been a clear media smear campaign in the last few weeks, regularly dropped a few days apart, first about EVs in general and then BYD, all on murdoch media by the same editor Frank Chung

It's a great sign for BYD because you know you're doing well when you have a target on your back.

I find it hilarious that they had to keep going back to the 'dealer's attitude' when if you at it objectively the article basically tells us BYD's battery fail rate is 1/22000 and they gave them a loan car from day 1 and then a full refund which sounds better than most other makes if you ask me

        • and then a full refund

Where did it said BYD gave a full refund? The article said the buyer was seeking a full refund. But "BYD instead offered to replace the faulty battery under warranty".

          • @Buy2Much: I may have misunderstood this part

''A senior BYD representative told them at a meeting that “if the car was three months old with a few thousand kilometres on it there’d be no problem for a full refund”, Mr Cool recalled.

“It would be a consideration under goodwill, not because a failed battery is considered a major failure,” the rep added in a follow-up email.''

      Same crap news as above.

    Terrible colour options, serious.
and those interiors! what are they on?

    • Colour and interior design is subjective, I like them. Not the usual boring grey or black only interior such as MG4 which is dull as hell.
