Did a speed test tonight metro melb, Boost 7mb/s & Kogan 49mb/s! Everytime I've tested kogan is 4-5 times faster.

Planning to use it mostly at home so will port over. Boost don't seem to want existing customers to recharge anyway. I guess for occasional regional access i might pick up an Aldi sim or a free 28 day boost if they ever have offers again.

  • Can I use this instead of NBN as a home broadband connection?

I'd suggest getting one of their starter packs and testing it over a few days to see how reliable the reception is at your area. 5g can have higher ping than an nbn connection so probably won't be good for gaming.

  • Did anyone used stored credit/gift card to buy this?
I added gift card to my account but when I wanted to buy this sim plan, there was no option to pay using stored credit.
Oddly enough, the stored credit appears for buying physical items.

    Is this a new thing?

    • I used stored credit and debit card for the balance

    • That's a worry, was going to buy a TCN gift card from Woolworths tomorrow (20xpoints special) to get an extra 10% off.
Seems like that would be risky.

    • I used gift cards to buy this. It applied to the whole $150 last week. When i went to checkout it automatically used the credit on the account.

  • i just tested my speeds in my 4G B818 modem:

amaysim: 100/60 Mbps (appears to be capped at 100)
    kogan: 220/20 Mbps

so, seems acceptable as 4G home internet for me. in metro brisbane, about 500m from a tower with clear line of sight

  • Waiting for small to go on sale.

  • I wish I could get this but my plan expires November :/ and don't need to activate earlier

    • Same boat, if we apply this to an account that existing plan expires in November, does it add an extra 12 months to the account?
