IKEA MUTEBO Combi Steam Oven $1439 (RRP $1599) + Delivery (Free C&C) @ IKEA (Free Family Membership Required)

80

Not a massive discount, but I'd been considering this combi steam oven when my Miele was playing up a couple of months ago, even at the normal price I think it's a bargain. It's almost identical to the AEG one for over $5000 (they're both from Electrolux), when I compare both instruction manuals the main differences are the control panel, the water tank (AEG one is removable) and the souvide function. As the IKEA one doesn't have a removable water tank, you'll need to do tank emptying after steaming which only takes 6 minutes. But to save almost $4000 I'm happy to empty the tank myself.

If my Miele plays up again before the special finishes I'll definitely get this one.

  • Did anyone try IKEA ovens in general?
    Any reviews?

    • Not sure about their ovens but I know this one is made in Germany by Electrolux, but I have one of their induction cooktops, it's still going strong after 8 years and it's used everyday.

I have their top regular pyrolytic oven… I'm pretty sure it's just a rebadged Electrolux … Its very good. Plus 5 yr warranty.

Highly recommend IKEAs top appliances. Also use their induction cook top, also works great and no issues.

I've got one, a similar top of line model that is about 2k cheaper than my brothers otherwise identical Electrolux. Highly rate it, shits all over the smeg I had before hand in terms of even heat and general usability. Very well made and ticks all the boxes. You basically get a good European made Electrolux for under half the price.

Bought one of their double ovens (no longer sold) previously, worked fine & came with 5yr warranty as standard.

This looks like an updated version of the previous Kulinarisk top-priced model (I think there were two variants: steam or pyrolytic cleaning, both around $1000 in 2021). I am very happy with my Kulinarisk. Fairly even and reliable temperature, very clear viewing (if you keep it clean). Nice telescopic rails. The steam function is interesting. The main criticism is the lack of explanation of how to use the oven's functions most effectively, but if you read the AEG manual for the very similar model at $XXXX more, it's not much more helpful, so that's just contemporary appliance life…

Edit: And mine reaches a very respectable 300C. For a domestic oven that's a great compromise if you don't want to invest in a pizza oven.

  • I think the Mutebo is more like this Kulinarisk steam oven in terms of functions: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/kulinarisk-steam-oven-ikea-700-…

As I can remember the old 60cm high Kulinarisk steam oven is a steam-assist oven which uses steam with the browning elements, while this new Mutebo is an oven that can do pure steam without browning. You can steam veggies, fish, rice, boiled eggs, etc, it's almost identical to this AEG steampro oven: https://www.aegaustralia.com.au/cooking/ovens/single-ovens/b…

Yes I agree both instructions suck.

  • It is a shame they don't do this in dark stainless. Some very good value white-labelled European appliances on the top end of their ranges.

  • Anyone else have trouble adding this to the cart to buy, keeps saying there is an error. I can add everything else in the store except for ovens. Very strange.

  • we managed to get a steal on BOSCH /HRG6769B2A. Under $1500. Floor model. Just gotta shop around and find a place desperate enough to clear their hold stock showroom

  • The product link is missing the user manual. All other IKEA ovens seem to have the user manual.

  • Anyone wants a cheapie in Northern Sydney today, one was removed from a house and its now on gumtree for $40.

Same as my Ikea one from 4 years ago, and similar to the MATÄLSKARE Ikea sells today. Basic, timer+fan forced, stainless+glass. Better than $400, and way better than 600+ lol

  • Thanks OP. Finally got it installed and I'm happy with it so far.
