Here's a deal for everyone who always asks me for a touchscreen in every portable monitor post from ZSUS. This is one of the cheapest I could find with good enough specs with the only real trade off being less colour gamut in exchange for a touchscreen. At 14" it's small enough to fit in your backpack and as a bonus it includes a magnetic case/stand.

If you don't care about touchscreens you can get a 14" 1440p portable monitor for US$50.70 instead.

Featuring a 14" IPS touchscreen display with 1920x1080 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 66% RGB colour gamut, 300cd/m² brightness, HDR, 178° wide viewing angle and dual speakers.

There's two USB-C ports for display/power and power input, PD passthrough charging, Mini HDMI and a headphone jack. A Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, USB-A to USB-C cable, USB-C to USB-C cable and charger are included.

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

    EU Plug :(

I wouldn't bother with the included charger. The USB-C port on my laptop is enough to power my monitors and if I ever do need more I can use another USB port or any old charger.

Can anyone vouch for that new store? Is AliExpress buyer protection safe enough to rely on?

      • 0.0% feedback on a newly launched store selling OLED cheaper than everyone else. What could go wrong?

      • Looks like the store was definitely a scammer!
        Feedback

  • What's the best way to connect a smart phone wirelessly to these portable monitors?

    • Wirelessly? you can't. You can plug this into a pc though, and stream to that wirelessly (ie dex)

      • +1

can you plug a smart phone with a cable though?

        • -4

          No

          • @djmm: Why? My phone could be plugged in to both of my normal monitors at home. What makes it not possible with this?

        • Yes you can

        • I was hoping to use my phone with this monitor while on the go (say on a plane), but is there any way to keep both the phone as well as the monitor charged? Does the phone power the monitor if the monitor isn't plugged into power? I'm a complete noob with this.

          • @DrMcStingyPants: You can connect a power bank to the screen via the USB-C power input. The screen takes a little power for itself then passes the rest on to whatever is plugged into it via the USB-C data connection. Such as a phone or laptop.

So the power bank will run the screen and charge the phone.

    • Potentially if you use something like a TV Stick (fire/Chrome) or Apple TV that connects to the monitor via a wire, then you can stream your phone to the Stick/Apple TV wirelessly to display on the monitor.

The main reason being these portable monitors doesn't come with any wireless capabilities so you'll always need a wired source.

    AUD $81.91 (+tax) for the touchscreen 2160 x 1440 ZSUS PM14T-2k.

Caveat - New seller with no seller feedback. And is selling loads of common items but cheaper. I ordered one but who knows what will turn up. So buy at your own risk…

From the comments of the non touchscreen deal for the same monitor.

    • To add to this - it seems I don't fully understand how Aliexpress stores work.

On mobile, it tells me this touchscreen model is sold by "Stones Store".

On desktop, it does not tell me the store on the product listing page. Instead, it says This item can be sold by many sellers. You can view more details about this seller on the checkout page..

On the checkout page, it says sold by the ZSUS store. In my orders, the one I bought yesterday is listed as sold by the ZSUS store. If I click the link in my orders, it takes me to the ZSUS store but a listing with a higher price.

Anyone have any light they can shed on how this works?

    • If you look at the description. It saysProduct Type:14A-2K

      Size:14inches

      Color:Black

      Refreshrate:60HZ

      Brightness:350cd/㎡

      Screen sizeratio:15:10

      Color gamut:100%sRGB

      Screenresolution:2160*1440

      Sound:Two built-in speakers

      Product package weight:1100g with Package

      Size:450mm300mm80mm

      Touch:without

So this is not the Touch model.

      • +1

It lists both the 14A-2K and 14T-2K in the description.

But up at the top where it lists which variant you are buying, it only has the PM14T-2k. (As a comparison, the ZSUS store has both.)
In the checked (and my order page) it lists the PM14T-2k

        Product Type:14T-2K
        Size:14inches
        Color:Black
        Refreshrate:60HZ
        Brightness:350cd/㎡
        Screen sizeratio:15:10
        Color gamut:100%sRGB
        Screenresolution:2160*1440
        Sound:Two built-in speakers
        Product package weight:1350g with Package
        Size:450mm 300mm 80mm
        Touch:With Touch

        • I can see 4 reviews (out of 264) with the PM14T-2k with 2 noting that the touch works, still feel skeptical as it's priced the same (even lower) then the other store's PM14A-2k version.

          • @AggroMango: Yeah there is something odd going on. It will be interesting to see what turns up. I half presume it will be the non touch version…

But who knows. If I click buy it now, then in the checkout it says it is sold by the ZSUS store and shows the touch model.

            • +1

@Prong: Just got a shipment confirmation from ZSUS store. The order still shows the PM14T-2k model. It would make a super deal, if it gets delivered :-)

        • +1

Went with the same option, I did screenshots of the entire listing and of the cart during checkout to ensure I have proof of having bought the 14T-2K model.

          • +1

            @wordsmith: @tm001

Nice! And yeah fantastic deal if it is the touchscreen. Now the race is on to find out who has theirs delivered first…

            • @Prong: Received mine yesterday, and it is the 14T-2K Model.
Touchscreen worked in a simple plug and play setup with Win 11 laptop using the cable from the box.

Couldn't figure out a way to stop the slight vertical stretching when connected to PS5, not a bother though. Certainly better than Switch screen that I had to be on while kiddo hogged the TV screen when teaming up for Fortnite.

Quite happy with the purchase, and thanks to Jimbuscus for finding the option in first place.

Yet to test Dex function with S23 Ultra.

              • @wordsmith: Score! I wonder if it was a price error. And then honoured - rare for Aliexpress so an extra good deal!

I have a delivery notification from Aliexpress, so hopefully mine is waiting for me at home.

                • @Prong: Nice! Good luck! Only negative so far is that the stand is quite flimsy, will need to find a better one soon.

    • Shows up as $209 now, so if there was an actual deal to be had there, it's gone now.

  • Does the touchscreen work if I set this as secondary monitor? Some youtube videos suggested it won’t

    • I have no issue using a touchscreen monitor in my setup.

  • If I connect this to an Android Phone using usb c cable, will it work.

    • It’s a monitor. Whether or not your scenario will work or not depends on your phone, not the monitor.

    • I have another brand's portable monitor and I can connect my iPad to it via USB-C cable (can even have my iPad powering the monitor, but it's a quick drain). Your mileage may vary.

How does GST work on Aliexpress - same as Amazon where individual sellers are independently registered for GST? I imagine a lot of Aliexpress isn’t registered for GST, but do overseas sellers not get a threshold? (I imagine this is why Chinese goods have gotten so expensive - more taxes hampering economic activity)

If I pay in USD does that eliminate my ability to claim back GST?

    • AliExpress collects GST and not the sellers.

The invoice will show the tax but no ABN. Rather some kind of number that the ATO has provided them to be registered (I can't remember the name). I still claim tax myself.

I can't get the cart to work. Any idea whether AliExpress is good at looking for duplicate identities? This is probably my fourth account to get Welcome deals - if I remove the Welcome Deal from my card (a second item) might it play nicer?

    Paypal US dollars

    • What exactly is happening? You can't checkout?

      • -1

Yeah. I assume it's on my bank's end now

But initially the paypal window closed and the AliExpress page said error CSC_7200015

But after a couple more attempts I did see a successful pre-authorisation to Paypal on my bank's end.

Pressumably this means there was a duplication and the bank has temporarily blocked.
