  • How much better is the 9700t from the 8500t in real world use?

    • +2

Its the same skylake based cores so dont expect too much
The boost clocks are about 20% higher on paper but i dont know how much that translates into the real world.
it usually depends on how the oem configured the tdp as to how cpus behave with boost
Theres 33% more cores and slightly lower base clocks so presumably multicore perf should be about 30% better, tdp shenanigans not withstanding

    • 8th Gen is probably the sweet spot, currently.

Then 10th Gen or 11th Gen if you are willing to spend a little more.

But also the N100/N305 systems are pretty great, I'd suggest getting the DDR5 systems.

    • +1

Not something you are likely to notice in real world, unless you are running benchmarks.
Highly CPU intensive tasks will be 30% faster, according to benchmarks.
Same GPU, same SSD speed, same RAM but 60% higher system price.
I'm upvoting, but not for the i7 :)

If those margins matter, you probably should be spending more and getting a non-T processor.
And if your desktop feels slow, it probably needs more RAM. Or rebooting, or just restarting Chrome.

    Bulid in WIFI

Tempted to buy one just so I can crack open the WIFI card and find out what a Bulid is.

      Seriously? Grow up

I prefer to stay young and curious

  • Have you got the HP ELITEDESK 800 G5 SFF?

  • Hpe hides firmware updates behind a pay wall afaik, hence why I'd choose a Dell. They are built like tanks too.

    • HP consumer has everything available, not that I agree with what HPE does either :(

  • Any one of these have dual nic?
