Always first step is to check on ebay how much the replacement toner 3rd party
just a random search, TN-2530XL third party toner is around $75-80 in eBay (3000 pages)
Is that cheap or a expensive?
Expensive. They introduced a new toner cartridge with these 2023 models.
For the older models you can get 2x cartridges for $18-$25 depending on the model.
@HomeAlone: No wonder.. my L2740DW multifunction, on ebay my toner is $12.50 delivered
Great machine with duplex printing & duplex scanning
I got the earlier model (MFC-L2740DW) like 8 years ago, still going solid todayOOS
Check again it is currently in stock.
Got this earlier this in February for $265 and it has been a game changer for uni. Good brand and just works effortlessly always
Was about to post this. Note that Officeworks have the same model and their price is currently $329. I just got back from price beating to get it for $254.60
I'm gonna try my luck tomorrow at local officeworks. Since this will not ship for two days I had an order in Amazon as well just in case.
I got one of these a while back, and at the time it could only scan to FTP(S), despite listing CIFS client in the specifications, which was disappointing https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/htmldoc/mfc/cv_dcpl2508dw…
It recently had a firmware update (Main v1.10) that seems to have added the ability to scan to SMB network share, if that matters to anyone
The model that I have got 8 years ago 2740DW was able to scan to Google drive, which is very handy in my use case
Ouch on the price of replacement toners,
Compatible toners have just come out in the last 2 months. Unfortunately like $79. Will come down with time I assume.
not equivalent and refurbished but if you don't mind; circonomy has some decent deals:
https://circonomy.com.au/products/brother-refurbished-mfc-l2… $149
https://circonomy.com.au/products/brother-refurbished-mfc-l3… $299
Sadly delivery not available, pickup in Melbourne
purchased during in Feb not quite impressed, the printer has great grinding noise when printing, I thought it could be common issue with laser printer but the similar size of Fujifilm printer is much quieter
Spec says max 49dBA which should be not that bad. Have to see for myself.
WhatsTheBigDeal, much appreicated for the info, will do some test.
I used mobile app not quite accurate, room noise level varies 33 - 45 or 50 dBA, when run a printing job the app meter goes up to 63 or 65 dBA. The other day I checked the noise level of another make/brand printer (similar size of MFC printer) it was way quieter.
@antkey: Thanks, I have a server rack running in my office room at home, so my ears should be fine by these numbers. And am also an infrequent printer, buying this mainly for auto duplex scanning which is what I do most with my current canon inkjet printer/scanner manually page by page.
Brother HL-L5210DW $279 ($100 off)
https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/printers/laser-mono/1091…printer only - not a multifunction like this. I bought specifically for the ability to auto scan duplex.
I see, last time I used a printer was probably 20 years ago, my bad.
Amazon out of stock? No problem.
So used CPL online that has it for $269 price beat at OW, got it for $255.
After ShopBack gift cards, final price was $250.
That’s decent.Professional!
For those that can wait for 3 more days
you can get 10% off Ultimate GC which can be used in officeworks
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/848646So final price is $229.5 (after 10% off GC)
That’s if there’s still a low price to beat. Not certain how long CPL will keep the price at $269
Does anyone know if the 3rd party toners eventually come down in price? I don't print very often so the starter toner will probably last me a few years. Just wondering if by then they would be cheaper than they are now or if the prices remain mostly the same?
if you believe in history repeating, then yes they should come down within the year.
Ok thanks good to know
Not bad paid $260 via Amazon for lower grade l2820 last week (now $216). Nice find op
