    Thanks TA for the post.

  • Cashback via TA only now?

    • +11

Hi @Neoika. Did some digging at network level and discovered that SCA unfortunately recently pulled cashback for all providers (temporarily) and was meant to have been actioned for TCB-AU as well but appears to have been missed by the UK team. I'm still learning the ropes and trying to make the correction myself on site, but it's definitely a no on cashback for now. Thank you for the comment - may have just stopped tickets & complaints 🙌

Macquarie bank portal sell SCA gift cards? Where exactly? Thanks

        • +1

Macquarie Bank Marketplace. Along with a host of other discounted gift cards.

      • SCA is still listed on Qantas Shopping for 2pts per $1.

Bosch aerotwin wipers coming up for winter

      • +2

I was looking for the exact same thing. But seems to be much cheaper everywhere else. A864S is $90 (special order) or about the same for individual blades. Lets hope they go the full 40% off.

        • +21

I'm finding that SuperCheap are actually SuperExpensive. Not sure if they have jacked up their prices ahead of this "sale" or if they are generally always more expensive. As an example, I'm after a can of Contact Cleaner. Bunnings sell it for $21.60. Super"cheap" sell the exact same can for $28.99.

          • @PleasureMe: Yeah, I think Supercheap's jacked up RRP's quite a bit in recent years. Generic brand oil filter for my Toyota is $24.99 at SCA, vs $16 at Repco/Autobahn. Wiper blades at RRP consistently more expensive than competitors. Not impressed.

            • @falcine:

Generic brand oil filter for my Toyota is $24.99 at SCA, vs $16 at Repco/Autobahn

Surely those prices are all more than an actual Toyota filter costs from your local dealer ?

              • @Nom: Never considered a dealer, no idea what they charge. In any case, I get the filter for ~$12 when Autobahn/Repco has a 25% off sale.

                • @falcine: Oil filters are not all the same - watch this when you've got a spare few minutes - https://youtu.be/G_vl2AYe7Yg

I wouldn't choose a generic part when the genuine item is priced in the same ballpark.

                  • @Nom: Thanks, looks like $20 for a genuine Toyota oil filter from a dealership. Supercheap charges $34 for a Ryco brand filter or $25 for Supercheap brand. Never even crossed my mind that a stealership could be cheaper than Supercheap (more like Superexpensive these days)

          • +1

            @PleasureMe: definitely expensive
bought inox from Bunnings for $7.xx SCA was $19.xx
bough car wash from Bigw ages ago it was alot cheaper than SCA
only time I buy there is when I get free credit these days…

        • +3

Supercheap price matched another website recently for me for a set of aerotwin blades. Ended up about 50% off Supercheap’s listed price

        • SCA was the same price as everywhere when I bought my wiper last week ($45). Hoping I get store credit back

        • +2

i did, absolute trash. changed it after the 2nd rainfall. squeaks like a Mutha (profanity)

      • How do I find what is compatible with a VN Calais 1990. It's confusing. I need a pair.

    • +4

Dont ask your wife that question coz she gonna say you don't need nuthin :D

Well thats the answer i got and shes kinda right butttttt ooooo thats shiny and new

      • +7

        don't need nuthin

Cool so she basically said you need everything.

gotta say it with an accent the its right :D

      Euyfycam if they're not excluded

  • +1

anyone know how hard is it to change the wipers on a mazda 3 pre current model? will some generic like Bosch work well?

    • +3

you can just change the rubber part, it's more fiddly but much cheaper

      • +9

I don't recommend it. The frames are usually sticky/rusted so you still have issues. For the sake of $30 I'd replace the whole frames or more likely switch to "aero" wipers

        • +2

For @Frozensage s case though in a Mazda 3 BM/BN my experience is the factory plastic wiper frames are very well made, and I got a perfect result just replacing the blades in them. For one of my much older cars I replaced the complete wiper frames as they were worn out, but I wouldn't replace the OEM mazda ones if they aren't damaged.

          • @WildZero: I think it depends on how much sunlight/heat the wipers get. The OEM ones on my BN 2016 are hardly sticking onto the windshield. The frames are bent due to the heat. Might op for the bosch aero frames soon

          • @WildZero: Makes sense do you have the link for the rubber insert? Thanks

            • @Bargain-er: For the Mazda 3 BM/BN hatch, (sedan the same minus the rear wiper of course).

              Front: Tridon Wiper Refills - Rubber 24" & 18" Direct Fit Combo - TMR003 (9.5mm back)
              https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/tridon-tridon-wiper-refi…

Rear: Tridon Wiper Refills - Plastic Narrow Back, Suits 6.5mm, TNB24-2 (6.5mm back)
              https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/tridon-tridon-wiper-refi…

The rear set above comes with two blades, of which you'd only use one. It needs to be cut down to ~30cm to match
the rear wiper. You can use the old one to measure against when cutting it. You can also subtitute any other 6.5mm
back wiper refill here instead if you find a single one for sale intead of this two pack.

    • +1

Changing wiper blades is fairly simple. Have a look at some YouTube videos and you should be able to do it on your own.

    • probably not hard

if you go to the website there's a "my garage" in the top right, add your license plate/car model and it should highlight which items fit your car

there's similar kiosk tools in store too

    • Changed them on my gen 3 to Bosch and it was easy as

    • My Mazda 3 (2013) had Bosch blades on the rear so they probably came with Bosch stock. Not 100% sure but it was very easy to fit.

    • Easy if you get the aero's, also last longer. There the only blades I buy

    • +2

I think SCA charges $3 for fitting if you're really concerned

    • I tried bosch aerotwin on an older mazda 6 and got juddering. Best performance was just buying the rubbers from mazda and swapping those out which is easy and they were already the right length. They werent expensive from Mazda

  • +2

Would car batteries be included in the sales??

    • I think they will be included, but I've been waiting for another 'discount off basket' code like this one so I can pricematch + discount.

The battery I want is $419 at SCA but can get them to pricematch down to $285

    • +2

      Batteries sold separately

    • +2

Supercheap email says 30% Penrite Oil.

        ketamine?

        • -2

I was on the highest dose they could give me around 4 years ago for nearly a month in hospital.
It’s dangerous and one morning it took 3 doctors shaking the crap out of me for ages (according to a patient next to me) to get me out of the best going off to sleep I’ve ever had…😳
Hallucinating was a bit wild but nothing bad like horror stuff.
Anyway people are crazy to mess with it …Don’t do it would be my advice.

      • +3

        Are you selling Bowdens Own?

    • +1

Repco has 25% off. Lets hope they can beat that.

  • Been looking for some spark plugs for my mazda 3. Way cheaper at sparesbox. Can't decide between the NGK ($18/p) vs Bosch ($2/p)

    • +2

Bought from sparesbox once about 6 years ago and they took a month to deliver, I'm never buying from them again.

      • 6 years ago though. Hopefully they've improved from then. Am not in a rush at all to get the spark plugs

        • +2

I ordered some parts recently and it was 3 weeks before they turned up.
If you need something in a hurry definitely do not order from sparesbox.

    • What car is it? If it's anything you remotely care about I would go NGK. I used to run Bosch on my MX5 until one of them managed to back itself out which was not fun, very lucky it didn't damage the threads on the block.

    • Price match them with Supercheap on live chat. Sparesbox can be quick or they can take several months to deliver.

      • +1

        Great. Will do that. Thanks

    • +1

I bought from sparesbox once, items took 8 weeks to arrive. Also had a mate that bought a clutch of them and it arrived damaged. Customer service was horrible to him, they never replaced or refunded. Just gave him the run around. Never ever again. Yes they are cheap but you get what you pay for.

  • Was about to get an air filter at Repco today, we'll see if cheaper in SCA
    Thanks op

  • Are any of the Karcher pressure washers worth looking at depending on the discount?

    • +5

Ex-tradie here. I blew through two Karchers before buying a JetUSA on eBay for around $450. Came with five nozzles, all the car washing and driveway fittings, and something like 40m of hose. It's that powerful we occasionally caused damage to driveways.

It's unkillable. We used to blast rooves and houses down and it's never missed a beat. Even the hose is good quality and anti-kink.

If you're looking for cheap options and have a lot of time, just grab one of the Amazon/eBay cheapies for under a $100. Be prepared to spend a lot of time watching it slowly remove a 15mm fan.

      • Model?

      • Keen to know what model also but I am guessing if its causing damage to driveways its a petrol one?

        • +1

Electric RX550, we occasionally worked in Byron bay, so anything that sounds like a chainsaw brings the entire neighbourhood out to see what you're up to.

      • +1

        Are rooves similar to grooves?

    • Thanks for reminding me I needed to buy a new pressure washer!

  • Are there any good car wash kits or suggestions on a list of good car wash items I could get from here?

  • anyone recommending the black ridge air compressors at supercheap? im in the market for a 40 one

they have 3 different models - i dont know much about them but need one for a nail gun

    • +1

Also holding for one but I think not as good as the deal in March.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/838743

      • yeah totally missed that one - been scanning the reviewson the sca site - some bad quality control issues it seems with black ridge - i might hold off for now til i find something better

    • +1

you need to know the air volume your tool uses and get a compressor that can sustain that in free air delivery. Direct drive models are really loud and belt drive are much quieter

      • thanks waade - think i'll stick to belt drive & something with more than 12 months warranty

    • +1

Sydney Tools have the Chicago Air brand that sometimes comes on sale. You get what you pay for.

this jump starters and battery charges are awesome in cars especially if yours is a few years old..

i had one from 5-6 years ago and saved me and my friends bacon twice already..

also charge your phone and have a torch light on it should you need it.. good to just keep it in your boot

    • Are they lithium, and if so do they need to stay out of the heat?

      • wrap in a cooler gel-pack, inside of something else, maybe a steering wheel sun cover (bubble wrap with foil) and store under one of the seats all the time. Direct heat will damage the battery, yeah, but it doesn't mean the battery won't keep working, it just means it might leak fluid and have chemical stink (which happened to me because I didn't do the above, accidental).

  • This 12V air compressor can do 250LPM. What's the catch?
