  • I'd love the 77" but I just can't justify paying more than double the price of the 65".

    • +8

You wrote 75" in the title, should be 77".

      • Cheers. Updated.

    • +1

      2x 65"?

    • +4

A person can’t even express his/her personal opinion on something without being negged? I believe the same, given that there is not much distance between my sofa & tv, 55-65” tv would be perfect size for me. I wouldn’t personally look at higher size especially if the price difference was too high as I am not on the big bucks.

      • But the Joneses…

      • I did scratch my head at the negs, but quickly followed with a chuckle.

Maybe I missed something, or some people really are that stupid?

        • +4

I'm pretty sure those negs have nothing to do with the actual deal. I will go with your second theory.

        • Because you have the star of david the muslims be hating.

      • +4

Do people actually care about the negs??? I just laugh knowing people must have rubbish lives to go around negging everything in life

        • -1

          I'm with you there.

    • +1

someone negged OPs comment just for a typo??? Give them a break! Thanks for posting the deal

      • +15

Yeah c'mon. I think OP wanted to say "Free Palestine" but fumbled.

        • +9

This is ozbargan, I think you mean "Discount Palestine"

          • @jimmy c: Find us cheap enough flights and we'll all be there in a flash!

    • +1

I have the 77". I think the price difference is because the 77" uses a QD OLED panel whilst the 65" and lower uses WOLED panel. QD OLED is brighter and the newer tech. It's also on their flagship products (S95x range).

      • -3

That would go some way to explaining the huge price difference between the two.

        • +6

Nope! you have incorrect info. Please google.
          https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/s90c-oled

2023 models all except 83" have QD-OLED. The 83" is WOLED

2024 models are a lot more confusing. Its basically a panel lottery.

          • +1

@techno2000: Classic Samsung. Back to bad old days of Samsung TV's and gambling on whether you get the panel you want.

          • +2

@techno2000: Rtings is probably one of (if not THE) best TV review websites, but people need to be careful because a few years ago, when I was comparing Samsung models on rtings.com, Samsung actually had different model names in the US (where rtings gets their TVs) and in Australia.

So, for example, if Samsung had models A,B,C,D,E (with A being the cheapest) in the US, in Australia (probably to make Aussies think they're getting a better deal than they were) Samsung's "A" model in the US was called the "B" model in Australia.

Sorry if it's confusing, I forgot the models now, but the point is that reviews of different models in the US don't always equate to Australian model names/codes.

            • @BooYa: I think people into tech are pretty aware of the model name changes across different regions. I'm sure they would name based on statistics of what sells better name wise.

    • +2

The diagonal numbers are deceiving, a 75" TV has 33% more surface area than a 65" TV.
But yeah it's +33% size for +100% cost.

      • You need to do some research into how a panel is made and it would explain why the price doesn't scale 1:1

        • +2

I don't need to do anything

          • +1

@reactor-au: You're right, you don't, but you could. Might be insightful.

            • +1

@rainbowunicorn: The lack of insight is your assumption of my understanding of how panels are cut from the mother-glass.

        • @rainbowunicorn Not sure why you neg the deal

  • +7

Very good price, probably ATL without EPP/education account? I got 55" for 1409 from previous deal but 65" is cheaper than that deal, it was 2200 or so.

Display is good, I have changed colours out of box though, also had to disable smoothing setting (not sure this disabled up scaling or not) to get rid of "soap opera" effect (like all videos were converted to 60 fps or so, I was watching Star trek TNG on Netflix and it was funny looking lol). May need to check about upscaling bit.

No Dolby Vision, if that matters to you. I was after cheapest OLED so couldn't afford a LG or SONY.

I have heard that it can't passthrough DTS, so I have connected XBOX through my old HTR-3064 and got an used UBP-X700 and connected its audio to AVR as well. I am not sure whether there are any streaming services using DTS though.

I haven't checked tuner or any smart feature other than DLNA as I am using Fetch Mighty from a previous deal for tuners and streaming. Samsung remote doesn't have lot of buttons and confusing a bit, to me at least.

Intial setup was easier with Samsung Smart Things on phone and I got the remote in phone as well.

CEC & ARC works well, I don't have eARC in AVR to check.

    An incredible Dolby Atmos experience

I am not sure about this though, I haven't checked TV sound but haven't seen any up firing speaker.

    • +3

      Nice little review there!

    • +2

No Dolby vision is the only reason I am not buying this.

      • I completely avoid samsung tv's had nothing but a bad experiences with their tv's since 2016 and their home theatres since 2012, that and their insistence on not paying for protocol licencing makes them less than ideal against the competition.

      • +2

DV shouldn't be a major factor when deciding on not to get it considering dv and hdr10+ only add minor changes to hdr10. Dv and hdr10+ actually reduces brightness and dynamic range.

    • +1

If you got the remote with a dozen buttons or so, you can order the "full" remote from Samsung or third party manufacturers.

      • thanks, i believe i have the full remote in Smaet Things app, I couldn't still figure out what coloured buttons do.Anyway I mostly use TV remort to change HDMI source.

  • +1

$2339.40 in EDU store so a good price here.

    • 77 inches?

"Written from the comfort of my warm bed" ~ Doing your part, are you? Please keep political nonsense off OzBargain.

      • +48

I would also suggest the OP remove that ridiculous flag from his profile if you want political nonsense off OzBargain.

You know to proudly show a flag that is behind the death of over 40000 civilians might incite some displeasure.

        • -7

Might want to practice what you preach. Doesn't exactly help when you exaggerate the figures. Even the Hamas run Gaza health ministry doesn't have their numbers that high - and any sensible individual would scrutinize those in more detail.

          • +20

@Strange1: I have no interest in getting into an argument about this on OzBargain of all places but the figure is probably more with people hidden under rubble etc.

But lets for argument say its 20000, is that OK? It's never a good argument if your argument is based on the figures as opposed to the fact innocents are dying in the first place in large numbers.

            • -5

@robbiey: Disinformation is not helpful in this sensitive situation. You could have made your argument sufficiently without making up a number based on your guesses (and for instance, not taking into account the number of combatants died who are clearly not civilians). All you are doing is inflaming an already tense situation.

But i agree this is hardly the forum. I wish you well in your day.

            • -1

@robbiey: What options do Israel have other than to dismantle Hamas?

Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad charters talk about complete annihilation of Jews and destruction of Israel. Both groups have vowed to keep repeating massacres like 7th October. Why are these groups hiding behind civilians? Or maybe they don't value the lives of their own civilians.

          • +18

@connorlo: 6000 Palestinian deaths from 2008 to 2020 compared to 250 Israeli deaths. All Hamas fault.

Keep trying to justify this ongoing genocide by completely neglecting history. You're all the same. Don't have anything to offer other than "it's all Hamas fault" or "Anti Semitism" or "October 7". This is my last response because I have lost any respect for people that continue to try and justify what Israel are doing.

          • +7

@gasman70: Killing of any civilian is not acceptable.

            • -5

@CI: I agree, but there is no moral equivalence between what Hamas do and what the IDF do.
I think we can agree on that?

              • -1

@gasman70: No, useful idiots can't agree on that. Their Islamist comrades can do no wrong.

          • @gasman70: Stop playing the victim champ.

          • +3

@gasman70: And the award for a labelling people goes to………Israel. Why can't people just hate when children die like the good ol' days?

        • By your own logic….are all Palestinians terrorists because of Hamas and Islamic Jihad groups are Palestinians?

    • +1

Assuming your spelling mistake is on purpose?

  • Looking at the weight on the JB site of the 65 inch tv: 3.5 kgs lighter with the stand than without the stand. Magic? Probably source the specs direct from Samsung site

  • S90c vs LG C3?

      • Dang. Still tough choice.
        Pricing will have to decide

        • +1

Yep, that's the answer. Went through this same comparison for boxing day. Price is the deciding factor

    • S90c stomps the c3 not even close. Look at colour luminance numbers, rec2020 coverage. That's what makes an image pop/hdr dynamic range. White brightness is only a fraction of the story. The only downside I see in s90c is motion interpolation on wide panning shots which Samsung generally handles the worst.

      • So this is a good deal?

  • +1

I am used to the quality of a 55" LG C1. Is the 65" S90C going to be a step back in quality?

      • +1

Thanks for that, wish I thought of it first. Surprised to see the Samsung beat the LG on everything, even with the C1 being a few years old

        • "beat the LG on everything" is a bit subjective imho. Yes the Samsung is indeed brighter, but then they also pump the contrast because of this. If you look at a couple of those comparisons the LG actually has better detail in the image than the Samsung. For me, I'd much prefer the better detail in the picture than something. The Samsung appears to lose detail particularly in the highlights, so anything with windows/cave openings etc. Just some food for thought.

          • @pbxjnr: Not sure how you're seeing "better detail" they're the same source and both have the same output resolution. Also "pump the contrast" is not factual. You can see if the output is accurate from pre calibration numbers, out of the box white balance and colour delta are very low. The "pumped contrast" might be due to how qd oled can reproduce colour much better than woled panels.

        • -2

Same. I had been holding onto old info, thinking the LG was superior in most metrics.

    • +1

No Dolby Vision on Samsung if that matters to you.

    • The S90C is a better tv. Picture will be better visibly better. It's a good upgrade. For the 55 S90C it's a very very good price.

  • Damn !
I just bought a 65 inch S90C 2 weeks back from Good Guys for $2200.
Apparently need to have gold service for the 30 day price gurantee.

    • -5

Worth phoning them? Tell them it's still in the box. Unopened.

    • +2

Buy this one, and then return it using your receipt with the Good guys for a refund from them

      • If you have the transport and time to cart around a 65" TV.

        • +2

          An hour's work for $400

          • @Shiroi Okami: If you have a vehicle, if not, you would have to factor in vehicle hire for return and lost overhead delivery x2.

        • +2

Just call a "maxi taxi" and fold down the seats.

      • +1

Do the receipts for these things include the serial number, though? Or is it just show the brand / model etc?

    • +1

Which is a scam considering JB do it for free. Just call the store.

  • +22

    Username and pfp check out.

  • Is the LG G3 deal still better than this for the 77" model?

Weird profile pic bro. What is it?

      • +5

  • Thanks, Op. I have just purchased the 55" & 65", cant justify the 77" which I also needed.

    • -4

      Same…..with the 77".
