Between 12:00am AEST Mon 6 May 2024 and 11:59pm AEST Sun 26 May 2024 (Promotion Period), Flybuys members who have linked their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership to their Flybuys account and make an eligible transfer of Flybuys points to Velocity during the Promotion Period will earn bonus Velocity Points based on transfer preference:

• 5% bonus Velocity Points on the value of Velocity Points received on your next manual transfer when you transfer a minimum of 1,000 Flybuys points to Velocity; or
• 15% bonus Velocity Points on the value of Velocity Points received on your first ever Auto Transfer when you transfer a minimum of 1,000 Flybuys points to Velocity. To be eligible, you must turn on Auto Transfer during the Promotion Period and the Auto Transfer must be your first ever Auto transfer.

Each Flybuys member is eligible for one allocation of bonus Velocity Points which will be calculated on the first eligible transfer that the member successfully completes during the Promotion Period. Bonus Velocity Points will be awarded to the member’s Velocity Frequent Flyer account within 4 weeks from the end of the Promotion Period. Manual transfer to receive 5% bonus Velocity Points
If you choose to make a manual transfer as your next transfer within the Promotion Period, you will receive 5% bonus Velocity Points on the base number of Velocity Points you receive on your first manual transfer from Flybuys to Velocity during the Promotion Period. A maximum of 10,000 bonus Velocity Points for completing a manual transfer will be awarded per member during the Promotion Period.

Auto Transfer to receive 15% bonus Velocity Points
If you choose to turn on Auto Transfer and complete an Auto Transfer as your first ever transfer during the Promotion Period, you will receive 15% bonus Velocity Points on the base number of Velocity Points you receive on your first Auto Transfer from Flybuys to Velocity during the Promotion Period. A maximum of 30,000 bonus Velocity Points for completing your first Auto Transfer will be awarded per member during the Promotion Period. This offer is not available to members who have already completed an Auto Transfer prior to the Promotion Period

          New Flybuys account.

          Think of your first transfer as losing your v plates, you can't become a virgin again. So delinking and doing it again won't undo what's been done.

      Benefits - if you fly Virgin or its affiliates
      Auto transfer will suck all your points across. Beware you only get 30000 bonus points (maximum), so convert some of those points to Flybuy dollars first.

        You will only hit the max 30,000 bonus points if your transferred balance is 200,000 velocity points, or 400,000 flybuys points

    I’m planning to wait till the final day so that I can accumulate more points prior to auto transfer to maximise bonus points. Is the transfer immediate once I turn on auto transfer, or do I have to wait a few days?

        Has been practically instantaneous for me in the past. To be on the safe side, you can do it on 24th or 25th.

          I believe an auto-transfer would be large (would sweep almost all of your flybuys in 1000-point blocks), provided you had a lot of flybuys points at the time. However, there is always a chance you may have done an auto-transfer and not had many flybuys, so would be difficult to tell.

      Check your past velocity transactions and if it says "Points received from FLYBUYSAS" then it was an auto-transfer. Manual transfers are recorded as "Points received from FLYBUYS". That AS probably stands for auto-sweep.

      I turned on auto transfer, initiated the transfer from flybuys to velocity. Transferred and arrived in velocity account the next day.

    Not received bonus yet. I turned off auto after end of promo period but nothing in terms says have to keep it on.

    Strictly they have til June 23 to pay the 15%

    Followed up with VFF - got this :

    In reviewing your account, we can see that the auto transfer was enabled on 22 May and was disabled on 23 May.

    According to the terms with the partner, in order to be eligible, you must enable auto transfer during the promotion period and it must be your first auto transfer.

    As the auto transfer was disabled during the promotion period, we regret to advise that you are ineligible to get the 15% bonus Velocity points.

    Pretty frustrating as the nowhere in the terms did it say you had to keep auto transfer enabled. I disabled after the transfer occurred as I specifically didn’t want future points auto transferring. As far as I’m concerned (and i replied accordingly) I enabled during the period and it was my first transfer.

      Ah shit - I turned on auto transfer 17 may ( 1st auto transfer completed, 19 may I turned off auto, and then 20 may I turn ON auto tranfer again. And never turn OFF anymore…..

      As of today- auto tranfer still ON.

      I suppose props to VFF's system accounting for such logic, but at the end of the day, I suppose it's the risk/lesson learnt. Personally I wouldn't want to be too tricky for these kind of promotions and would rather setup my actions for a 'happy-flow-of-events' to de-risk anything going wrong.

      IMO the differentiation between the 15% auto-transfer and 5% manual transfer made it too obvious that that is a toggle setting involved; and that those activating auto transfer temporarily would probably be going against the spirit of auto-transfer, and would be better be served by the manual transfer option.

        If such logic exists then it should be explicitly stated in the T&Cs. In fact, the T&Cs for their new offer now includes

        Members must remain opted into Auto Transfer until the end of the Promotion Period to be eligible for this offer.
