"Members must initiate a points transfer in each of the three calendar months to meet the offer requirements, in the months of May and June.

Seriously banks…get ya $hit together…… for just once!

    Hopeless!

    • +3

The harder they make it the easier it will be for people to make a mistake and they won't have to pay up

    • isn't it two consecutive months?

      • -1

I am confused, why does it say 3 calendar months when the promotion only runs across 2 months

        • -1

The promo says "transfer in both months and earn 15% bonus Points on the total amount you transfer." not sure where the 3 months came from.

          • @Meovel: @Meovel
Straight from the 2nd line of the t&Cs mouth..

" Members must initiate a points transfer in each of the three calendar months to meet the offer requirements."

        • @colt75 Because no one does any due diligence any more and promos are spat out by over worked imbeciles.

    • for auto transfer

so you don't have to do two in two months if you setup the auto transfer?

  • Perfect 15% off and then close off my Amex by July and close the ANZ in August ready for the next bonus chase

    • Do u have to wait for 18months to get next bonus?

      • Yes. I used to have explorer card in 2020-21 then got Amex platinum signup bonus in 2023.

    • I've got some AMEX points as well with an AMEX explorer card, could you explain what you will be doing?
will you just transfer the points and let it sit as velocity points?

      • Transfer your points to velocity and let them sit.
Then close your Amex account for 18 months.
Then as a new customer in 2026 you can get another signup bonus for explorer/platinum/something else.

        • ok thanks I'll consider it. so best way to do it is set up autotransfer, 1x in May, 1x in June?

and do you think velocity points is the best to transfer to from AMEX? obviously with this 15% it's even better

  • -3

I tried to upgrade my flight to business class using velocity points, I wasn't aware you could only be put on a waitlist after people paying actual money. Like I get it, but if you only travelled popular routes you could potentially never actually be able to use them.
I've not been in a position to do it before so I don't know if that's a recent development, regardless I was a little taken aback.

    • +8

You can use the points to redeem a full flight and those are mostly guaranteed.

      • This reminded me of people getting confused by the high 6/7 figure points+pay fares thinking those were the actual costs to redeem reward seats.

  • +6

    Damn no bonus on flybuys

  • +8

Don't transfer today to be safe. Some airline systems run on US/Europe time which could be a day behind. Wait until tomorrow.

    • +1

Can confirm - transferred a small amount from CBA this morning and it hits velocity with a 30 April date. The date on CBA end is 1 May so will have to remember to follow up if the bonus doesn't come through.

      • did you transfer expecting 15% bonus? cos i dont think CBA is part of this redemption bonus?

        • nvm. the email i have recieved said CBA is part of it!

    • Hi @daanish,

Referring to your comment on this post 20% Bonus Velocity Points on Reward Points Transferred from Participating Partners @ Velocity Frequent Flyer, you mentioned that the transfer you did on the 1st November was shown as 31st October, Velocity said it will be included in bonus points calculation when you emailed them.

Can you please advise if you actually got them in the end?

I did my transfer for this new offer on 1st May but it was shown as 30th April… I have just emailed them and waiting for response.

      • @daanish not sure why I couldn’t tag you

        • Hi - yes I did get my points as expected. No follow up was required.

  • The participating partners list is significantly shorter than the manual transfer list. I'm with Citibank and they aren't on the auto transfer list, so stuck with 15% for manual transfer…

  • Going to wait for 20% bonus on manual transfer again (Citi… payall….) disapointing….

    • Still a good offer seeing as I need to close my Citi Rewards (prev. Platinum) card before June so they don't charge me an annual fee.

  • Possibly to get extra 15% for manual transfer by combining with 110000 pts point hack offer?

There is reported comments for not opting in auto transfer and still getting normal citi points 220000

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836040?page=1#comment

    • 2 months will be too long after activation to get the refund of annual fee?

  • I have not seen Flybuys transfer deals this year. It used to be every quarter.

  • Been waiting for this to close my St George Amplify. I think I just turned on auto-transfer to Velocity - the process is a bit confusing. Will find out when I get my next statement I guess, which is within the next 10 days.

  • I signed up for the 80k bonus velocity points offer with Citi rewards, will I still be eligible for the 15% bonus points

  • For the 20% auto sweep offer NAB rewards is listed a participating partner but why isn’t Citi rewards listed if they are NAB rewards? Strange given they are one and the same since the takeover.

  • “ NAB Rewards Terms & Conditions
If you receive the 60,000 First Year Bonus Acquisition Points as part of the NAB Rewards Platinum offer during the Promotion Period, you will not be eligible to receive bonus Points as part of this offer on any points transferred from NAB Rewards.”

    …ughhh

    • how about manual transfer, this term seems only applied to auto transfer from NAB

      • Will end up with some negligible loose change left behind as NAB only transfers in 3000 chunks if done manually? Still don't get why they needed to have this exclusion for this promo.

    • This actually makes me feel slightly better. Just got my sign on bonus on 28 APR and was ruing the timing lol.

    • +1

This term is slightly confusing.. what if you didn't have auto transfer turned on and the bonus points are sitting in your acc? This is my case and I just received the 120k NAB points 01/05 so wondering if I'm eligible if I auto transfer now

    • if i sign up for the current NAB Rewards Platinum deal (80k points), would I be eligible for the 20% auto transfer? (60k is a previous deal?)

  • I’m still (profanity) waiting for Citi 30%. Just give it to us already you (profanity)

    • I'm curious about when the last time they had this offer was?

  • +1

Anyone know if you're able to get the bonus points if you've previously had auto redemption turned on?

    Heres my scenario:
    - NAB Rewards Platinum Velocity (Jan 2024)
    - Never gave them my velocity member ID
    - points stayed as NAB points but auto-redemption was still "on"
    - turned off auto redemption just then
    - manual transfer?
    - ???
    - profit?

    • following

      • only issue is, since the points don't hit till well after the promo, you'll never be able to confirm this before trying it yourself

  • It's been quite a while, but I'm sure last time I transferred Amex rewards to Velocity they were 1 for 1, now 2 Amex points = 1 Velocity point. Am I dreaming, or have the rates changed?

    • +1

They changed to 2 = 1 a few years ago if I recall

  • question for those auto-transferrers.. as i never do it

Lets say I have 100,000 points sitting in one of these accounts and I switch on Auto transfer, will that instantly convert my entire balance (100k points) over to velocity? Or only like 1000?

    • +1

It will be you're entire balance but not usually not instantly. Most banks will transfer everyone's accounts on auto transfer on a specific day of each month cause it will be too much to transfer it everytime you earn a point.

      • Thanks for comfirming!

  • Anyone else with St George and notice it says Westpac on the transfer page?
    I know they merged a while back but haven't seen it cross referenced before;

Your entire accumulated Amplify Points balance on your Westpac Amplify Card, as at the time of transfer will be transferred across to your nominated Velocity Frequent Flyer Account"

  • can someone pls confirm below?

Possibly to get extra 15% for manual transfer by combining with 110000 pts point hack offer?

There is reported comments for not opting in auto transfer and still getting normal citi points 220000

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/836040?page=1#comment

  • Is it worth moving amplify points to Velocity? I have around 500K amplify points and I am completely new to point hacks.

    • +2

If you have a specific flight redemption in mind and there is availability, it can be worth moving when the bonus is running. Otherwise, continue to warehouse your points in Amplify until you know what you want to do with them. Can require a few months or more of research and planning. These transfer bonuses tend to crop up May and November, so could be worth going down the research rabbithole to find out what you wanna redeem on.

  • Don't forget you must transfer at least once in each both of the two calendar months (May 2024 and June 2024) to be eligible to receive the 15% bonus Velocity Points. so you need to transfer one in May and one in Jun. I bet many people will only transfer one now and wait for the bonus points.

  • for those with Citibank points do you think this is the last bonus offer and should be taken up or just going to wait until they transfer to NAB points (potential devaluation)?

    • aside from Krisflyer be 2.5:1for Citi are there any other rates which would be better there?

    • Why the devaluation? Isn't NAB also 2:1?
And NAB has the auto transfer option so could get 20% rather than 15% now.

    • When are credit cards from Citi moving? I only got my debit cards moved to NAB.

  • Is 15% bonus the best it gets for Amex MR transfers or does that ever go up to 20%? Does anyone know if the Nov 2023 - Jan 2024 offer include Amex MR or was it just for the banks?

  • Is there a minimum amount of points I need to transfer in May and June to get the bonus? I'm with Citi.

    • want to know the same, ta

      • I've called up Citi and their minimum points transfer is 3000.

    • On the T&C it says "Minimum points transfer required"
but can't find information about how many points.

      • Speak to citi they'll tell you. Each partner has their own requirements.

  • +1

I tried to set up auto transfer for my St George Card but cannot type the amount to be transferred. Anyone is the same?

    • I'm with Citi and their auto transfer feature requires transferring the whole balance on a specific date of each month set by the customer. Perhaps similar to St George?

      • on St George portal once you select auto transfer, the amount shown to be transferred shown as zero and cannot edit. You can add that to cart but it is shown as two points to be transferred.

  • So summary..
Need to transfer in both months for the bonus
If you had the NAB promo for the 60k auto transfer points, you dont' get the bonus. If anybody tries to turn it off and do the manual, report back!

  • I liked it better when the bonus points were instant…now we need to wait until 31 July and hope that nothing goes wrong

  • Could someone pls explain why everyone in here it opting for manual transfer instead of auto transfer? The auto transfer bonus is higher so it doesn't make sense. Am I missing something?

    • Not all providers offer the auto transfer feature

  • +1

Just discovered that you can now opt in for points autosweep if you're with Citi. This option was previously not available.

    • +1

Just confirmed with Velocity that they will not honour 20% bonus for Citi auto transfer simply because auto transfer was not available when the promotion started. I have submitted a feedback for Citi to be added to the auto transfer list. Hopefully they will consider it.

      • Autosweep was available with Citi before the promotion started. It's currently not listed a pacticipating auto transfer partner so you can only manual transfer for 15%. When I saw this promotion I turned off my autosweep the day before this promotion started in the Citi Rewards site so I can manual transfer.

        • How strange…there was no option for me to auto transfer before. Even the staff acknowledged this when I called up.

  • -1

Do you get 15% bonus on both the point transfers?

  • Suncorp: you need min 25,000 points balance to make a transfer.

  • So my st.george card completed the auto transfer of all my points today. The auto transfer terms don't say anything about needing to have a second transfer in June. I don't have any more transactions on the card and want to close it. You think i'm safe to close it and the 20% bonus will still be applied before the end of July?
These promotions were much simpler when the bonus points were paid at the same time as the transfer!

    • Just got my St george points and turned on auto transfer today, any idea how long that takes?

As for bonus points, from experience with my ANZ offer, the bonus only landed in my velocity account after the date they stated annoyingly (in this case 31st July), so I wouldn't hold my breath. Personally I'd keep the card til then, but the bonus part should be on Velocity.

      • St George transfers at the end of your statement cycle

        • Ah, I wonder if I miss out on this as my cycle ends on the 21st..

          • +1

@frogduck: Probably yes. You could do a manual transfer if you have already met the transfer requirement for May. You would get less bonus points but better than nothing.

            • @meowmeowmeow: Cool thanks, cancelled my auto redemption request and I'll just wait til the next round since manual also requires 2 transfers

              • +1

@frogduck: Yeah that was your other option. Should be another offer in November if they maintain the previous patterns 😊

  • Do the two manual transfer have to be from the same card/bank?
Or can I do say, Suncorp CC for one transfer, then Amex transfer for the other?

    • Ooooh interesting question!

    • +2

It's in the FAQ, doesn't have to be the same.

Can I Manually Transfer from different participating partners during the promotion period?
Yes, if you manually transfer from one of the Participating Partners in May, you can choose to transfer from this partner again, or from a different Participating Partners in June.

  • My auto transfer from NAB went through on 5/5. No bonus points though. Did people receive this immediately or are they allocated later?

    • need to wait after the promotion ends I guess.
      from T&C:
Bonus Points will be allocated to the Member’s Velocity account by 31 July 2024.
