Reserve Carbon MTB Wheel Sets $1699 + $49.95 Delivery ($0 QLD C&C) @ Jonny Sprockets

90

Johny Sprockets have been pumping out some pretty great deals all year and this is another one.

Reserve carbon MTB wheelsets (with i9 hub) for half price is pretty phenomenal.

A well regarded wheelset, with a lifetime warranty on the rim, and half price is a pretty great combo.

If I was paying full price I'd probably go We Are One, but at this price I don't think you'll find better, except for AliExpress (maybe).

Link is for 29 inch set, the 27.5 is the same price and if you ask nicely they might even be able to do a mullet.

It's insane that this is a deal. The weight saving per $ spent is nuts, donuts.

bst carbon MC wheels are about 3k, but honestly its probably the best single mod you can do, dollar for dollar/pound for pound. All of my road bikes had shock replacement and cartridge kit for the forks which is 2-3K easy if buying new and sometimes its not right for application so more $$, if I went back to riding on tarmac I wouldnt bother and just buy a set of carbon wheels and ride around OEM suspension

Considering the amount of carbon used in a M/C wheel vs a bicycle rim, they are over charging for bicycle stuff

  • Would buy if I needed…

    • That's a horrible attitude! If everybody thought that way, they'd never sell any, and might have to start making something actually useful.

  • Thanks might get these for my 2nd hand Polygon road bike I bought on eBay for $200.

Oh thanks for the heads up, I'm drinking beer. You saved me a few dollars.

  • Yea great deal but can't afford it right now. Would go awesome on my Mega RS. RIP Nukeproof :'(

These will weigh less than a regular wheel. But if don't eat so many donuts you can save a fortune.
This is top tier "I have too much money"

thats true, but you can also buy these and eat donuts

Neighbour is top tier "I have too much $$". Thew away a carbon road bike, tyres needed air and will need replacement at some point. So im the proud new owner. Tyres are like $250 RIP

They are objectively better than aluminium. They don’t dent, or get flat spots, and they weigh less. The reality is you won’t notice any difference to your performance though, and they are far more expensive. They are only used by people who don’t have a max budget, not really sure they are OzBargain material…

my DH bike has bends, dents and flat spots and uses aftermarket rims which are decent brand. I got a feeling they wont warrant it on a DH bike. I mean if you case a jump and 100kg going at speed into a hard dirt pack somethings gotta give. Im thinking a $100 rim might be a good sacrifice compared to broken bones or frame

  • I have a carbon Reserve wheelset (but not with i9 hubs) on my gravel bike - great wheels, no complaints. I do have i9 hubs on another bike and they’re running on ten years strong - bomb proof!

This sounds like a great wheelset! Especially for that combo. I wouldn’t pay RRP (that’s just bonkers) but this price is digestible.

Of worthy note is Reserve’s warranty and crash replacement policy - one of the better policies out there if that’s something you look for. Have a read of https://flowmountainbike.com/features/examining-the-no-quest…

  • Yep, lifetime warranty is a big thing, especially if a similar alloy wheel set would be North of a thousand dollars anyway

  • Ehhhh only microspline.

Can still get i9 customs for about $2k.

But the aesthetics of the reserves are awesome.
