And instead of Zoo Friends, you may find that it could be cheaper to purchase an annual membership with another venue which has reciprocal rights for entry into Taronga Zoo.

Does anyone know of such a membership that has access to both Dubbo Western Plains Zoo and Taronga Zoo?

Yep. Zoo friends of the Perth zoo get in for free at Taronga. Adult price: $70
      See http://www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au/shop/join-zoo-friends-the-bene…

      • It's $80 for individuals and $70 if 2 or more people at the same address are members

Yep. Melbourne Zoo (combined with Werribee Open Range Zoo & Healesville Sanctuary) have a similar deal with reciprocal entry rights to Taronga Zoo, Adelaide Zoo, Perth Zoo, [Dubbo] Western Plains Zoo & Monarto Zoo (which i didn't know existed until now).

Of course you don't actually have to go into the zoo at Dubbo to see the animals.

Costs: $15 joining fee + $91/year for a dolt (less if qualify for discount, free for kids up to 15 yo).

I did it for a year in a former life. I watched the lions. I love lions.

      • Erm … "$91/year for a dolt" ??? :P

        • I was more expecting some kind of bite for the Dubbo line…

        • I see what you did there…

    • Thanks

    • wow, that's a lot more expensive the Melbourne…

we pay $169 for 2 adults and any number of kids…

  • +1

join Zoo Friends for good cause. Really worth- kids love it!

  • Do you get the bonus 3 months with other zoo's e.g. perth or melb?

    • Was wondering the same. Why don't you try for a price match at Perth zoo?

  • No price in the title

  • +1

And remember if you buy an interstate membership you don't get any of the other benefits.

Taronga members save $10 on the parking which adds up if you visit a few times.

But I guess it's hard to predict accurately any potential future savings based on being a member.

    • You don't have to pay for parking if you park in the side streets.
However, the opportunity to book into behind the scenes tours is something that we have enjoyed.

    • No parking fees when you catch the ferry…

      • Just outrageous ferry ticket prices.

  • Either way this is a must have if you have kids, we just love our membership and think it is such good value for money, here in Melbourne with three zoos to visit you never have to be worried about catching up all shows in that one visit to get the bang for the buck,

You can go leisurely and visit all the animals at your own times and kids usually get bored after a couple of hours anyway and for Melbourne zoo you need at least 5 + hours to see everything properly.

  • has anyone used this yet? i put in the code and nothing seems to happen
