Similar to a couple of months ago with Ariana Grande's latest album, pre-orders for Billie Eilish's next album on vinyl (due for release on May 17) are available from Amazon for a great price.

As a comparison, the album is listed for $99 at JB Hi-FI and around $70-90 from a quick look at local record stores.

Also note that this pre-order is for the standard black vinyl. Amazon has a separate listing for an 'Eco Mix Red' colour but this is showing as currently unavailable.

  • Could this be a pricing error? It seems like this would be the price for the CD-version.

    • +1

Could be but preorder now think later!

    • +2

Wasn't for Ariana pre-order earlier this year so should be good.

    • Plot twist, nobody buys CDs any more, so that's a load of merda.

    • Billie probably can't charge Taylor Swift prices if she wants the album to chart number 1 again. Not as many people would buy a $70 record or special edition CD from Billie, I'd bet.

  • Thank you so much for the information you provided. How can I get pre-order LP information?

  • Thanks OP!

    "Hit Me Hard and Soft…"

    Sure, if you say so.

    • +3

Congratulations you got the meaning of the title…

  • +1

Not that Billie's my type of thing but thanks for posting OP, this is what records should be priced at.

    Nice one👍🏻.

    Ordered. Thanks OP

      Incel moment

      • -6

whoa you thought that and actually typed it. 🤷‍♀️

ok I think you think that because of the word "normie" but I have been using that online since forever and even hear it irl so not sure its the dark word you think it is.
so yes I do use the word normie regularly. but "incel moment" I do not use. 🤦‍♀️

    • +7

What on earth are you on about?

    • +3

Wait until you hear record labels require and enforce their talent to come up with TikToks to keep themselves relevant and to market themselves, including big names.

      • -1

people dont seem to understand where i am coming from with my comment..
but is it weird like, that if it was beyonce it would be less surprising? I dunno like back then she was a new talent and I imagine billie had a lot of young fans so I dunno it didnt vibe with me well how she was promoting herself as just a stereotypical tiktok user.

    • -6

I was smart enough to stay away from the Swiftie post comments. seems like I underestimated how many BE stans there would be on ozb. 😂

so a smooth brain translation for anyone who is conflicted or confused. basically saying if I didnt grow up with tiktok and see myself reflected in her, I would probably still be listening to her music. weird how that works huh. 🤷‍♀️

also I should link to the video of Lady gaga barfing multiple times on stage and continuing to sing. thats what I call real talent. 😏

      • +2

Sorry about all ruined mystique you-yourself managed to build while listening to her, and about the whole disenchantment upon seeing her doing things IRL, but interestingly and quite ironically, your idol is from a generation that's proud of proving they don't need to meet anybody's expectations about themseleves, and such public whinge like you've just had here seems cringy. Or just universally petty.

Record labels sell records at the price they should be so they can hit the numbers they want so they can easily sell more at inflated prices!

YAY! The golden age of record labels is coming back! If Billy gets big enough, she will "die" from insert rockstar reason here so record prices can be even higher!!! *see: Mac Miller albums.

    • +1

Also pre-ordered so i can throw it in with my Lizzo album ill never listen to…

    • +1

I wish they would sell cheap vinyl, with white stickers on it and plain white album art, with just black text on it. It wouldn't hurt the collector market, because collectors wouldn't want it, but would let people listen to vinyl cheaply. Like cleanskins for vinyl.

      • That would be kinda cool.
They used to be fairly cheap when they were niche, but now they are popular again, record labels are just milking it :(

  • Got one thanks OP - now to pray it comes.

  • +1

I get that it’s nice to touch, the album art is bigger and subjectively vinyl sounds “better” but it takes up so much space and is easily damaged, not to mention the price now? Anyways pointless comment just thinking out loud

$30 for something with objectively worse sound recording quality, huge in size, and that wears over time.

Are people seriously considering that as a bargain? Does anyone even intend to actually play records, or are they just overpriced shelf decorations?

This doesn't feel very obargain tightarse to me. It feels like a frivolous hipster waste of money .

    • +3

that's just like, your opinion man

      • -2

Aside from the objective reality of the physical limitations of the medium, yes. Yes it is my opinion. There's a lot of opinions being shared across this website.

        • +2

your opinion is not grounds for a neg. You can't neg a vinyl deal just because the FLAC files exists, that's crazy talk.

          • -1

@Bacons: Of course that's not the rationale.

My rationale is that this a stupid product and it's at a stupid price given that.

            • +1

@Grazz989: How is it a stupid product? Do you also think CD's are stupid??

I do agree with you about vinyl prices though, they're ridiculous.

            • +1

@Grazz989: You must be fun at parties

    • If you're not into it, you're not into it. Totally fine.

I've kept all mine since I was a kid, and they're still in use.
The Technics player sits proud as a display pice/talk piece in the lounge room.
It doesnt get used all the time but it gets used.
I know it's lesser quality but it's not that.

2 main features, it's mesmerising watching the thing turn around with the orange light.
Like watching a fireplace. Sounds silly but it is, and I like it.
..it forces you to listen through a whole album without skipping.
      I absoluelty love this.

I bought a talyor swift album for the daughter a while back.
I sat down with her and listened to the whole thing.
      It was great!
"Have you heard this song before?"
"Nope." (cause she always skipped to the ones she knew)

      She got a Laufey album.
Fantastic double gatefold, gorgous orange disc, and a booklet with the lyrics and pics.
She was into it for hours. Worth every cent of her own $50 she spent on it

She now has her own turntable in her bedroom with bluetooth-out to her regular speaker.

      Heaps of fun!

..and I still flick songs from my phone/spotify to the networked amplifier too.
Just a different experince, and more convenient for sure.

    • +3

So… what's your point, apart from showing us how bitter you are about people wanting some vinyls? You do realise that with that logic you can spill hate on any product, only because you're a self-righteous wet blanket.

What difference does it make if it's to be listened or hang on the wall?
