Newer model is also on sale here

    • Does the new model still have the plastic component that pushes out the garlic from the holes?. It doesn’t appear to be visible in the photos.

      • Looks like the whole little basket that the garlic sits in is removable

      • It doesn't, the review I posted above mentions that "While OXO did away with the silicone lining in the most recent iteration, it was still easy to scrape out any fibrous residue after pressing" but I quite like the concept of the silicone pushing out the shell/ remainder ymmv

    Better design here:

    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/ikea-365-vaerdefull-garlic-pres…

Even easier to clean, works well, cheap!
Of course the real kitchen snobs use a knife, never a crusher.

    • I have the Joseph Joseph one https://josephjoseph.com.au/products/helix-garlic-press-gree… which has far surpassed all previous garlic presses I have owned. Bought via a OzB deal I think from Amazon.

    • Haha I hope you're not right, I'm getting the Oxo to replace this one
That' said it's not bad, just a bit too fiddly for my liking and I'm hoping the silicone tips make this one a real breeze to clean

    • As someone who uses garlic in everything I should probably invest in a garlic crusher, last one was a cheapie from IKEA that broke at the pin.

Just wish frozen garlic don't lose like 90% of the flavour, love those peeled 500g pack from asian grocers and they're a massive time/$ saver but tasteless after in the freezer :'(

    I bought this one.
    Its great.
Really sturdy and easy to clean.

  • Jarlic FTW. :D

  • $22 at TGG commercial if you have access to that

  • Thanks OP

  • I have this. Best ever. I lost custody of my first one a decade ago. Tried a bunch of different brands, disliked all of them. Ended up getting this one again and couldn’t be happier.

  • I have this one by zyliss. It works without peeling the garlic, not sure if others work like that.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Zyliss-Susi-Garlic-Press-Dishwashe…

Only issue is it's coated with some cheap silver/aluminium coating/paint that's peeled off because of washing (possibly because of the dishwasher)

I guess I just want to ask if any of the peelers work without having to peel the clove?

    • this one and the Garject I believe are both fine for use without peeling, but you'll always leave a bit of garlic behind in the skin when you do this. Well worth it to save the hassle though imo
