With all these portable monitor deals popping up lately I think it is a good time to look for some monitor stands.

  • Monitor bracket is extendable from 11cm to 25cm for the telescopic model and 14cm to 26cm for the 2-section and 3-section model.
  • Height of the telescopic model is extendable from 22.5cm to 43cm. The 2-section model has a length of 12cm for its longest section and the 3-section model has a combined length of 18cm + 12cm for its two longest sections.
  • Seller claims the stands are suitable for portable monitors of up to 17.3 inches, although I suspect this is only applicable to the 2-section and 3-section models.
  • There is apparently a quantity limit of 1 per customer so I am unable to check their stock levels.

Price is GST inclusive and AU$ is based on numbers charged by Aliexpress at an inflated rate. You can get better AU$ rates if you follow @Clear's tips by using a card without international transaction fees.

  • Will the joint of these loosen over time? Can't see a way to tighten them

    • +3

I am currently using the 3-section variant (although not purchased from this exact seller) and each of the joints can be tightened with hex keys.

      • how are you finding it? any good/bad things you like/dislike about it?

        • +5

Surprisingly sturdy construction and good design around the joints. It even has a ball joint behind the monitor for better adjustability, which can also be tightened with a plastic screw around it.

Only thing I dislike is the foam pads that is used to clamp onto the monitor on either side of the monitor bracket - it is stuck on using double sided tape and over time the foam pads will start to move outwards due to pressure from the clamps. It's an easy fix with more double sided tape though, or if you have some of those tiny adhesive rubber/silicone pads or nano tape.

          • @anonym: Thanks for the feedback - you've convinced me :)

    • Can't see a way to tighten them

      You can use this

    • In the customer's pictures in the comments section, you can see that the hinge points have a hex head on it. So assuming that you can tighten it that way.

    Monitors for ants ?

  • Will this hold a 10in tablet?

Monitor bracket is extendable from 11cm to 25cm for the telescopic model and 14cm to 26cm for the 2-section and 3-section model.

      Figure it out yourself.

Google translate says the sectional models clips hold 14-26cm and telescopic 11-25cm. I'm sure you can work from that.

      • +1

OK Google! Convert 10 inches to cm.

These look great, was looking for something similar earlier but didn’t come across anything this good.

  • Just be warned I’ve been burned recently by anything AliExpress, if they use fast horse couriers odds are you will never see your thing. More and more AliExpress sellers seem to be using them recently

I'm currently still waiting on a package purchased back in February too. Although for me the delivery failure rate is like 1 in every 20 purchases so it's still worth the risk.

    • Aliexpress has 75day buyer protection, if you dont receive ur item within that time you should have asked for a refund. I've used it a few times already and gotten my money back each time or come to an agreement

      • Last time I had to use that I had to wait 60 days before submitting the refund request.

Got my money back (most of it, lost some due to exchange rate changes) but it's a long time waiting to get a refund.

    • Not sure what's going on with your local courier, but I frequently buy from AliExpress and have the packages delivered by Fast Horse; they've been surprisingly quick.

I ordered some $8 tape on the 2nd of April, they arrived on the 11th of April.

I ordered a different $2.96 tape, $4 antenna cable, and $5.61 switches on the 25th of March, it was consolidated and delivered on the 5th of April.

My friend in Melbourne ordered a tablet on the 17th of March, it was delivered by Fast Horse on the 29th of March, a public holiday.

      etc, too many to list.

All of the above was with the free shipping option.

    • Weird, this always seem to happen to someone whenever I post an Aliexpress deal. Try searching for 1005006718893575 on Aliexpress.

  • Looks like an interesting stand to hold a "Portable Display" behind existing notebook screen. Grabbed one as a matter of interest being a decent price.
    Final cost = US$13.33 -> AU$20.86 (via Wise)

  • 2-3kg load

It's more of a tablet stand. I guess the base weight costs 1/2 the price at least due to shipping fee. The stand should cost much less in China. Looks good but not sure if lasts long?

  • Do these fold away?

    • I can only speak of the 2- and 3-section ones: yes, they can more or less be folded away, but not very well.

They arrive deconstructed in a small box and if you want to pack them up in a compact manner you'll have to take them apart again.

      • Thanks.. thinking for travel in a suitcase

  • I'm looking at that hanging barbell on the pictures and it looks so plasticky. Doubt it would hold an actual one.

  • does anyone have a suggestion for a good travel stand, don't mind the clamp variety, ideally for height adjustments holding a portable monitor that is light and folds easily?

    • +1

This is about as good as it gets if you want something portable that is also height adjustable.

You can try looking for a stand that clamps onto the sides of a flat table - it'll be lighter than a weighted base but is also far more situational.

      • thanks, thought as much with a trade off between weighted base vs clamp that may or may not work on a particular desk

    • Not exactly what you asked but this road warrior setup is probably lighter than this monitor stand. More things but lighter if the stand weighs 3kg.

      • A stand that works for both laptops and portable monitors? That actually looks really amazing. Do you have a link to the product?

        • +1

It's not my setup but they looks like a Nexstand. Here is a review of it and its competitor that inspired it's design:

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqxmtGTwhv4

          • @TightLikeThisx: Yep they are nextstands. My portable monitor doesn't work with both of the nextstand models I have so I grabbed one of the models in the OP since I only need it on my desk at home (my monitor has a built in stand for when I'm on the go).

            • @bdl: Aw, I thought the nexstands would be a lot more versatile.

              • +1

@anonym: They are great, but not for holding my monitor. Definitely recommend if you need a stand for on the go. I bought a K7 for portability and then got a K2 when I needed to adjust the height. I still throw the K7 in my suitcase when travelling. I got both for about $20-25 each. (K7 here: https://www.amazon.com.au/NEXSTAND-Portable-Foldable-Eye-Lev…)

I do realise the Nexstand is a rip off of The Roost range of products but at $25ish each they're much easier to replace if stolen/broken.

Comparison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziIFttT2ECo (K2 is the one with the more rounded feet)

  • Mine is still sitting there "Yet to ship". Has yours?

  • +1

Received mine today, thanks OP. After tightening the joints with the included hex key it's supporting my monitor well.

  • Received mine yesterday.

The gripper part that grabs the monitor has overly strong springs. To the point it squeezes my ZSUS monitor so hard it bends.Sure, the ZSUS is not an overly robust portable monitor. But the springs in the gripper are so strong the plastics arms themselves bend from the force.

Maybe mine is just has incorrect springs. Which is a shame, because the actual arm part seems reasonably well made for the price.

    • I'm using it with a 14" ZSUS and there is no flex on my monitor. Looks like you have a case for an AliExpress return / refund?

      • Yeah I might end up going for a return / refund. But I will see how easy it is to modify the tension, as I like the stand otherwise.

    • I got the one with noted as "Telescopic" rather than the ones with arms. I have an old HP Portable screen in it which is 22cm. The springs are strong and suppose needs to be to hold screen but know what you mean. The HP has a very solid chassis so wasn't too worried. For a flimsy ultra thin device I'd be worried it was too tight??
There is room to stretch the spring to advertised 24cm not sure I would want such a tight squeeze unless Screen had a solid frame.
