Sure it wasn’t you and needed excuse to buy new Tv? 😋

    • I usually blame the cat balancing on top of the tv and knocking it over.

  • Waiting for 60” for my wife.

    • +8

      that's 57'' too much!

      • Just a tip dip

  • Would never buy a refurb tv. If it was say only power supply replaced then yes but you won't know that. Panels vary and may be within Sony's limits but a picky person returned it. Then you may be stuck.

    • Not sure its that deep.

    • I've bought 3 Sony refurbs now. They've been perfect.

It's actually more comfort. If there's some minor issue, a solder point or DOA, you know the problem has been fixed already.

  • Anyone had problems buying refurbs from Sony?

    • +1

I bought a refurb 75 x9000h 3 odd years ago, has not shipped a beat and not a single issue, would buy another again without hesitation

You have been waiting for 3 years?! Please update when it finally ships.

          Haha good pickup… skipped*

Yes, my failed after a day and took eBay stepping in to get a refund. That was nearly 2 years ago though so may have improved, but I doubt it. Just be prepared for it to go either way, prob more so 70/30 that you won't be happy.

Yes. They sent me a refurb but it was the wrong, much cheaper model in the correct box. The box itself looks like he had been a tour of duty to Afghanistan.

Sony wouldn't replace the TV with the correct model, and only offered a refund. So I missed out on the deal, and the whole experience was a hassle.

    • Bought a mini LED during black Friday sales. Was DOA. So not going to do it again.

    • Most recent refurb was a 85" 85x85k from eBay 20% off plus some other discount. ~$1780.

Box, TV, remote, all looked brand new never touched.

Bought 2 before that and exact same experience but boxes were well travelled. TVs and contents perfect.

    No contents Insurance… err

    • +3

Excess would be most of the cost of this tv and potentially losing a NCB

      • Interestingly for home contents insurance most providers don't ask if you have had a recent claim.

    • +3

Trust me, you need more than just contents insurance as its "accident" insurance which is an extra premium to have items like broken TV's covered.

Found out the hard way with RAC a few years ago..

Not sure why people on ozbargain need content insurance. I have none. Why? 8 year old Sony TV from a deal on here. $400 Astavista fridge from here, chest freezer $200, one Lenovo e series laptop, 2 mobiles, one Chromebook for the 8 year old and Nintendo switch, Samsung front loader, espresso machine and grinder. Total of all this ' content' > $5000 in today's money. Cash, jewelry in a hired locker.
So if anything happens to home content I will replace everything within a month from deals on ozbargain. Simple. Save on insurance premium.

      • And things like furniture - beds' - linen - kitchen everything - cloths - collectables - art etc ,etc adds up fast - personally we have several 100k worth of contents, but sure if just staring out and single, then sure maybe.

  • Just take a look at their poor feedback

Bought headphones, were supposedly box damaged only. When they arrived they never worked.

    • I got some "new damaged retail box" earphones direct from them, when I got them they were clearly used returns and even had somebody's grot earwax clogged in them. I like a lot of Sony products, but I'd never buy refurbs/seconds from them in Australia, zero standards and difficult to deal with.

      • Yeah but headphones are like underwear. You don't buy them second hand or 'refurb' unless that's your kink.

        • They were new, if you read the fourth word of my comment in bold.

          • @jenna12: I'm sure if you posted the link that it would say refurbished or other disclaimer.

            • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: They were falsely sold new unused with damaged retail packaging by Sony. I don't know what else to tell you, do you want me to try find 5+ year old correspondence with them? Why are you commenting on a week old comment with no idea what you're talking about to sympathise with Sony?

  • What's the warranty on these?

  • Are Sony TVs made in Japan still?

  • +1

Just check your item carefully. Do any diagnostics that are available. Did buy a camera from them that seemed like the autofocus was off.

  • There was still one available as of a few moments ago
