I'm not certain of what is out there for 85" TV's, but couldn't you get a vesa mount tv stand if side stands don't work?
Eg: something like this?
https://amzn.asia/d/ayrwlNrYeah I want centre stands not these 4 legged crap
LG seems to be have centre stands
For cheap variants to cutdown on costs
Yeah these wide leg stands are the worst.
Are they? I dont see the issue if you have a big enough entertainment unit that is
Peeps want to put these on their skinny fantastic furniture units that are a screw away from collapsing.
You identified the problem in your comment!……….. :)
@hamwhisperer: Thats not a problem with a tv though is it. They need to mount on wall or have a unit to suit. Natch.
NB mine just fits lol
I purchased the LG 75-inch UR8050 for $1200 from JB a few weeks ago. I've already set it up. Does JB have a 'cooldown' period where I can return the LG for this? Or is the LG better in quality and not worth swapping it for the TCL?
Thanks in advance.Unfortunately, they don't. You would need a good reason why it is not fit for purpose for them to take it back. The problem with LG's LED panels is that they're IPS, some people don't have a problem with this but I personally do. TCL's CSOT panels are VA.
But isn't IPS has better colours than VA? Isn't same computer monitors?
no
Ips for gaming where response time is king
@corremn: Most VA TVs and higher end VA monitors have better motion performance than IPS.
Yes, this is true. IPS (generally) has better colours and better viewing angles. VA (generally) has higher contrast. But there are poor IPS and poor VA panels. Better VA panel might have better colours than poor IPS etc.
IPS has certain advantages, and I would argue that for general purpose use at this price point, IPS is superior.
I have a 65" LG IPS and a 55" Samsung VA at a similar price point and the IPS has better viewing angles, has a more vibrant picture in bright light.
It's close for movie watching in the dark, but for general purpose use, I find the IPS generally better.
Hey all, how would this compare to my 8 year old 65 inch 65W850C ??. I would place this on the wall too. Or should I just get the c845 85 Inch (if it could be found as I missed out on the sales.
It's about 71% larger and 8 years newer.
Thanks man, I guess it would be way better
4 times more pixels too
c845 since you don't constantly upgrade. Make it a good jump.
Yea I agree with you, I just would like to make it worth the while, cheers for the reply
This is comparable to the c845, just doesn't have mini led and subwoofer. Pq is excellent.
60hz native panel
Non qled
And a slower processor unlikely to receive updates…Not even in the same league as the C845
@Megahowler: Sorry was confused with the c745
Good TV. I have one of these in the office for PowerPoint and Excel presentations.
Hint hint ATO it's for PowerPoint and excel
How would this compare to the 75inch Samsung tv Qles
Got it for $1200 7 months ago, very happy with the TV, great colour, no issue at all
from JB?
is it because of discount voucher or just onsite bargaining?I priced match this store at JB and they agreed $1197
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/802850
ordered mine with delivery and ended up paying $1344
Total Price before discounts including delivery was= $1356 + $59 Delivery = $1415
Bought Jbhifi Giftcard from Shop Back for $1369 with 3% Cashback ($41.07) (Total after Cashback= $1373.93)
Used Perks code $30 off (Total after Using Perks Code= $1343.93)
Remaining $16 balance paid with creditcard. How does this compare to the Samsung "The Frame" telly in terms of picture quality? I know it's apples to oranges, but still interested to know how they compare purely with picture quality.
why not go to the local store and check it out in person?
have the 85 tcl same model for 8 months, better picture than samsungs including the smaller 75" samsungs, compared to family who have sansung, even they aggree the big banger 85 tcl has better pic
very very happy with mine, dont use for gaming so coments are for tv use onlySamsung dropped the ball with the pq on the frame tv, it's nice if you like it's other features though.
How does this range work for ps5? If I'm reading it right it's got 4k120, allm and all the stuff you'd want for a ps5 right? Are there better options for cheap TVs that are good for a ps5?
Not at 85" for this price. This is the best deal.
Check out the specs for the c845, and see if that better suits your needs. If you're happy with 75", pay a couple of hundred more and get that one.
Thanks, that's what I thought too. I think 85" might be a bit big, but if comparing 75" to 75", this one is a big enough price difference that it might be worth it
I bought 75" c845 thinking it's the max/optimal size for the living room, but after having it for a few months, I think 85" would have been even better.
I have this hooked up to an XBX and haven't been able to get 4k120 to work (although I only tried for about 30 mins and gave up).
Looking at the JB ad, it seems to indicate it can only do 2k120 or 4k60.
So might want to confirm it can actually do it before purchasing. Would also want to be sitting a fair distance away because 85" is massive.
You're right, I just checked again and in the fine print they have it listed as 120hz, but then say it's only up to 2k 120hz! I had a google but some people were swearing up and down that they were able to get 4k120hz working, so I was a little confused. Thanks for shedding light on it!
4k @ 60 Hz is good enough. If want to go full csgo pro then get a 24in monitor @3000 fps.
@lew380: The thing is that the ps5 supports 4k120hz gaming. There's no games out there that can hit that yet, but given that if want to keep the TV as long as possible, no point getting something that won't be good in the short term when I can just get something good from the start
Does anyone know the warranty period?
365 seconds
3 years by TCL
Ohh wow, this is getting close to danger zone price for this model 🤣 only some will know what I mean.
This is an awesome TV for the price, hook it up to a decent 4K source and you won't be disappointed at this crazy low price point.
Dolby Vision and HDR compatible, quick power on.. 1080p TV can look pretty average after watching 4K sources but that's expected.I wouldn't hesitate to buy again knowing what I know of owing this model.
I second that. I have personally seen this model at Goodguys today next to TCL qled model and TCL mini led. Not much difference in sharpness and colour brightness. Blacks are as good as other tvs.
This or the 75" C845 for watching plain Jane tv and streaming basic stuff? Room is fairly bright.
Just used Good Guys online price match, came down to $1265 so I pulled the trigger and got one.
Thanks Mate, just saw you comment and also got one. Worth mentioning that shopback is now doing 4% cashback on Thegoodguys.
Just price beat with Goodguys online chat for $1250 for 85P745. Happy with the price.
Ohh how do I do this??
I could only see $1695. Did I miss the deal :(?
My mate has one of these and they're surprisingly good value for money. I would not hesitate if you're in the market for a budget big banger. I am but I need a TV with a centre stand.
$1355 @ HN if you can't find stock @ JB: https://www.harveynorman.com.au/tcl-85-inch-p745-4k-uhd-led-…
