Ocean's Trilogy [Blu-Ray] ~ $18.48 from Amazon UK

80

Came across this in my Amazon.co.uk shopping basket:

Ocean's Trilogy [Blu-ray][Region Free] has decreased from £11.87 to £10.00

At checkout (yes, it does ship to Australia):

Order Total: GBP 11.91
Items: GBP 8.33
Postage & Packing: GBP 3.58
Total before VAT: GBP 11.91
VAT: GBP 0.00

With MasterCard's current official GBP-AUD exchange of 1.551568, that brings the total to $18.48 for those with the 28 Degrees MasterCard. Not quite below the $5 per Blu-Ray movie I know some OzBargainers use as a benchmark, but still good value.

    There was more than one?

    • No, there is only one movie in this trilogy. False advertising!

"Came across this in my Amazon.co.uk shopping basket:"

How does that happen? Do they randomly put stuff in your basket before checkout? Hoping that you buy it, pay, without noticing? Like, at the supermarket, some brat kid throws stuff in your trolley, which you discover (or "come across") as you're at the till?

Lol I'm genuinely curious. How does one "come across" stuff in their online basket that they themself haven't put there? Proceed. :D

If you choose the 'save item for later' option or if you just leave it in your cart, (I think) you get price updates on the item.
For example, I saved a travel mug in my cart some months ago, and received the following update when I checked a minute ago:

Important messages for items in your Cart:
1 item in your Shopping Cart has changed price.
Items in your Shopping Cart will always reflect the most recent price displayed on their product detail pages.
Thermos Sipp 16-Ounce Vacuum Insulated Travel Mug, Black has decreased from $30.03 to $29.87

So the OP must have saved the item for later previously, or accidentally left the item in his/her cart.

      • Oh, okay.. I kinda see. But shouldn't that be an update, a notification update, to your account (rather than to your cart)? Or do they just keep putting previous Watched items into your cart.. which you would have to keep removing (if you didn't wanna buy it at said time)?

Lol that sounds like a bigger pain in the arse than me! ;D

        • The 'Saved For Later' section is viewed in the Cart, so it's easy to 'Move to Cart' whenever (if) you feel the need to. I suppose they just think that your Cart is the part of your account you're most likely to see on a regular basis.

Or do they just keep putting previous Watched items into your cart.. which you would have to keep removing (if you didn't wanna buy it at said time)?

Nah, it doesn't work like that (thankfully)
It's quite handy, I suppose, but the amount of things I buy from Amazon is fairly limited, so it's not very notable for me.
I would post a screen capture of the whole update + saved for later + cart system, but I just cleared it all :-)

    • I had this trilogy in my basket about two months ago, but decided not to buy it. Instead of deleting it from my basket altogether, I selected "save for later".

Amazon notifies you of price changes for items in your basket or "saved for later".

      • But by choosing "save for later" do they keep putting that trilogy into your basket each time you log on?

I get what you're saying there, Imh.. so long as what I just said above isn't incorporated. By OP though, it sounds like they just keep adding previous stuff to your trolley each time.

        Edit: I do get what you're saying now. I'm just being pedantic. It's 1:30am and I'm over-tired. GOODNIGHT! :D

It stays in your cart, so it doesn't need to keep being added because it's never removed in the first place.

        • What, no…it doesn't stay in your cart. Items in the Saved for Later list stay in the Saved for Later list until you delete them or transfer them to your cart.

    Oceans 11 = Great.
    Oceans 12 = Awful.
    Oceans 13 = Bad.

    Poor value.

    • Oceans 12 = the story was so complex even the writers decided to retell it in the last 5 minutes so people had some idea of what was happening, watch original with the Rat Pack far better than all three put together and covered in vegemite

  • While you are looking at this you might also consider another box set for about $20 delivered.
