    "Connect up to 25 devices"

Is that supposed to be a big number? I have way more devices than that

    • -1

I wonder if they meant 25 mesh nodes.

The blurb says 30 simultaneously connected devices…

You can buy more nodes to expand the Mesh network.

“The blurb says 30 simultaneously connected devices…”

        maybe it’s per Orbi/satellite.

I found these specs to vary as well, such as sqm of coverage. different for per Orbi and the entire system.

I find it odd only 30 connected devices when another Orbi model I was looking at recently claimed to handle 200. Sorry can’t remember which one was just looking at a bunch of specs a week ago.

      • I just had some time to look up netgear Orbi specs so heres what I found.

Pretty sure the model I was looking at the Tri band RBK863S system (RBR860 router) and I was mistaken the system marketing says it supports 100 connected devices at full speed (not 200).

Weird thing is comparing both router orbi’s RBR860 vs RBR350 (RBK353 system) the specs sheets dont mention max simultaneous devices. Instead they both say the same thing as follows.

“Max number of computers per wireless network: Limited by nodes (typically 50-70 nodes), 2.4Ghz = 127, 5Ghz = 127.”

Uhh so I’m not an expert but there doesn’t seem to be a direct nodes to devices comparison since they both have the same spec, but marketing in one says 25 devices, and the other says 100 devices.
Anyway one being dual band and the other Tri band probably has something to do with it.

        • forgot to write this above

maybe 25 devices spec was per orbi, so total would be 75 in the system. then when the higher model is 100 devices total that doesn't look that much better for the higher model does it? so maybe they purposely use the spec per orbi in the marketing of the lower model to make the expensive model look a lot better. just what I think.

Kinda but kinda not related, Got the deco x50 3pack from OW yesty for $281, very happy with it so far

    • +2

      Deco > Orbi

    • Was this an in-store promo?
Mind sharing how you got this price?
It's showing $492 on OW website

      • +2

        Probably price matching bunnings

        • Yes, Ow guy was shocked but did match it

      • +1

Appears Bunnings don’t have it listed any more
From memory a few vic stores had stock (Mernda, maybe Springvale)

    • Does the Deco have mixed wpa2/wpa3 for security? This Orbi doesn’t and it’s bloody annoying

      • Nfi tbh
Clicked security in the app and looks like there is a wpa2/wpa3 setting you can apply

      • Yes it does. The TP-Link X50 are an excellent pack, and utilise the 160Mhz band as well as ethernet back-haul (3 x Ethernet ports per satellite). Exceptional value!
