  • are these gas heated?

I can't think of any other possible style of "burner" than gas.

Maybe a spirit stove, I can't see a gas supply in the picture.

      • Yep, looks like a twin spirit burner.

    • Looks like it takes cans of sterno

You get it up to temp in the oven and then use the sterno to keep it hot.

  • Anyone know what temperature you heat the stone to? The actual value is missing from the website.

I have been to a restaurant that delivers hot stones to the table for you to cook your own meat on. They just cool down at the table but stay hot for long enough to cook a steak. I wonder if this could be used that way without the burners.

    • That would be awesome. I love those places.

    • I think this particular stone is meant to be heated up in the oven (like all cooking stones) & then placed on the burners while you eat to keep the stone hot.

Most restaurants like you're describing use lava stone/volcanic stone but that's quite expensive so I doubt this grill uses lava stone especially at the price it is. It more than likely uses some cheaper stone that doesn't stay hot very long so it needs to continually be heated once it's out of the oven.

you meant to heat it up all the time so it's not like the one in the restaurant.

  • The local Flash Harry's had them a while ago for $10 or $15 I procrastinated long enough that they ran out and have never had them since.

We already have a SizzleStone, and the extra cooking area would have been handy.
