The next AliExpress sale kicks off on the 20th at 7pm AEDT and this one looks to be a sitewide sale that'll work on pretty much everything.

Pro Tip: To save coupon codes to your account for future use within the sale period, add a high-value item to your cart (i.e. this US$465 tablet), proceed to checkout, and apply each coupon individually. Once applied the coupons are linked to your account and can still be used later even if their usage limit has been reached. You can close out of checkout after this.

I recommend checking out the Coupon Centre for store specific coupon codes that stack with AliExpress coupons. Sometimes you can find some good hidden gems amongst the crap.

Each coupon is 1 per account, do not stack with the new user "Welcome Offer" and Big Save "Limited Deals". Due to the 3G shutdown in Australia and phones being wrongfully blocked you may not be able to apply the coupon codes when attempting to purchase a phone on AliExpress.

The minimum spend excludes GST and shipping.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Works on everything including super sale etc.? I got so frustrated with the last (or ones before that) as super sales items weren't counted and didn't get it working. Just ended up bailing on the purchase!

  • Au codes but usd discounts lol

    • +1

Set your AliExpress currency to AUD and you'll see the equivalent discount. I personally use USD to make overseas purchases.

      • Don't you get bad exchange rate when you use usd?

        • +15

I use actual US Dollars. But lets do a test on this tablet.

AliExpress set to USD shows US$447.70 at checkout with the current Mastercard exchange rate showing A$726.43 if I was to use PayPal with a card that has no currency conversion fees. If I let PayPal do the conversion instead of letting my card do it, then it's A$739.79 and that means PayPal are taking a A$13.36 cut.

Now if I set AliExpress to AUD it shows A$749.85 at checkout…… yikes! The AliExpress AUD rate is out by A$23.42.

I'll add instructions to my post on how to get the correct exchange rate.

          • @Clear: I think i will change to usd to save some money!

            • +4

@DraggyX: Just be aware that if your card isn't currency conversion fee free you may get an additional international fee charged after. It depends on the card. I know Coles have 3%.

              • @Clear: Use Revolut.

                • +1

@mynameisborat: Don’t use in combination with ING.

                  That’s be RevolutING.

                • @mynameisborat: Do I set it to usd in Ali still or aud? And use their virtual card?

                  • @iDeker: Set aliexpress on Usd, and it will charge usd on card and it should automatically deduct in Aud based on the current ongoing rate

                    • @mynameisborat: Set to USD, then during PayPal checkout click "See currency options" and choose USD when selecting the card. Otherwise it's still going to use the PP exchange rate and not the Mastercard/VISA rate.

  • Anyone had any luck getting a refund for something 9 months after purchase? My 5 port 2.5g Hisource switch just suddenly stopped working after 9 months.

    • Have you checked to see if it's the power supply?

      • Yeah used another one from my other switch. Still doesnt work. Thinking of trying my luck with a different brand Keeplink or just pay extra for something locally like a TP-Link. Going from 2.5g down to gigabit is miserable. Absolutely painful, so will need another 2.5g switch asap.

        • my 2.5g keeplink is going strong

    • Did you try send the store a message? What did they say?

Nothing much can happen if the store chooses to ignore your messages or not to act.

9 months is over PayPal (6 months?) and usual credit card (120 days?) dispute periods.

Maybe try contacting the manufacturer directly? [email protected].

Was in a situation the store refused to rectify, emailed the manufacturer (different company), they sent me a sample of a different product as a good will gesture.

    • 9 months!

      • Thanks OP, will do that

        • Fine print under the coupons on the Aliexpress ‘Coupon Centre’ page reads “Coupons are invalid on some items, e.g. mobile phones”

Has anyone else noticed Ali Express charges 12.5% tax instead of 10%?

    • +2

I think it's because they charge GST on the pre-discount prices.

    • The real question is do they actually lodge activity statements?

      • +1

They have a tax number (not ABN) issued by the ATO for overseas companies. Interestingly the tax invoices say 10% tax and currency CNY when it's USD or AUD. Payment is going through Alibaba Singapore instead of Alibaba AU.

        • +1

The number only empowers them to collect GST, but it's not a closed loop to pay back.

    • +1

Yes, and I kicked up a stink in the beginning because it drove me insane. Got some refunds but mostly just got headaches.

Thanks @Clear. Any chance there'll be a sale on the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025?

Pro Tip: Save coupon codes to your account for future use within the sale period, Once applied the coupons are linked to your account and can still be used later even if their usage limit has been reached.

This was very useful. Thanks OP!

    • Sorry dumb question, how do we know if it saved to our account afterwards? I got a message "This code isn't quite valid yet. Try again later." when adding the codes. (as its for tomorrow).

Is it seeing in the Coupon Centre page?

      thank you.

      • +1

They'll apply and save to your account when the sale starts.

        • Thanks :)

How do you add them when you aren’t proceeding through the checkout? Do you add something really expensive to your cart, progress to the stage where you can add a promo code, add the code and then just clear your cart?

  • For someone that has never purchased anything on AliExpress, what do people typically buy? Is it like eBay where you can get whatever you want? Or are there products more specific to a certain niche?

    • -1

      Can you take a look?

Instead of clicking the link, you prefer people to tell you everything they sell on there?

      An interesting approach.

      • +2

You must be fun at parties. Why talk to anyone about anything when you can just google it or click on the website and read about it yourself? I'm interested in other people's opinions and if they may be purchasing niche products that can't be found elsewhere. Excuse me if I'd rather ask than scroll through 100s of categories and pages of goods.

It's a marketplace. A lot of people shop for electronics, gadgets, parts and not so genuine toys. Don't expect to buy iPhones and Samsung's here. Brands like Xiaomi however are plenty.

Just be mindful of stores with <95% feedback and ones with 100% feedback. You'll find the latter has 100% because they only have like 5 reviews. The Q&A on each listing often has warnings about products being fake if the price is too good to be true.

      • Polos - Aiopeson are about $14 and not bad quality
      • Air fryer paper
      • Christmas and birthday cards
      • Microwave baked potato bag
      • Beef patty press
      • Blueretro controller adapter
      • Ambernic devices
      • you find these worthwhile? some items i found cheap are small pc accessories, pc case, camping gear.

a big fail for me was some sports gear, hand pumps and soccer balls were terrible

    • I agree with the "price too good to be true" warning. Just for fun, I bought a $7 512GB Xiaomi uSD card. The card was printed convincingly, but the packaging was quite generic. The card was an 8GB card with 512GB printed on it. I did get my money back and the store removed the listing.

Impressed with Ali express lately. Super fast delivery , stuff is well packed and if there’s an issue (only had one) they issue a return slip and as soon as you post it , bang the credit appears on your account.
    Gotta be happy with that.

  • Any good deals JISULIFE fans or lanterns?

    • +1

      They have a search function…

  • -1

Anyone know what the deal is with the Poco X7 Pro not showing in my search? Only the regular Poco X7 shows up. not the pro model.

    • It's because none of the phones old by Poco Phone Store including the Poco X7 Pro will ship to Australia. Xiaomi's reseller Fantacy does, though coupon codes are unlikely to work.

      • Ahh that sucks. I assume because of that 3G issue? I thought users reported that was resolved eventually for Poco phones.

        • +1

Yes that's right. AliExpress and stores don't want to take the chance of losing a dispute over a non-functioning phone. I'm not sure if overseas purchased Poco phones have been unblocked.

They jacked the price from Total:US $365.38 to $399, or it automatically jacked right after I bought it.

Had to spend a bit more to get to 439$ USD mark, but i got like 120$ worth of items extra instead of paying 699 retail here. I ended up paying 702$ AUD total (including shipping and tax). With the 9900X and like 120$ worth of other stuff

I've found a listing error on this portable monitor for US$38.23 (~A$62.03) with coupon AUNY05

The listing says it's the 15.6" model, except when you select the "Color" it shows the image for the 11.6" model. If you order take screenshots, because you'll be able to claim a partial or full refund in a dispute if you do infact receive the 11.6" model.

    • +1

Well done. Well done. Well done. Well done. Well done. Well done. Well done. :)

      • +1

        Well done.
        Just to be sure Clear

    • Can confirm it was 15.6" and not 11.6" 😍😍

  • +1

Deal updated with 3 sets of coupons for each discount.

  • What am I doing wrong? My cart's subtotabl is AU$253.38, AU$24.79 shipping and AU$27.82 tax.

When trying to use AUNY30 I'm getting: Your order amount, after discounts and excluding shipping fees, doesn't reach the minimum spend requirement for this coupon code. Once you reach the minimum spend requirement, you can reapply this coupon code.

    • What is the price on the listing in USD?

      • Subtotal US $151.33, Shipping fee US $15.24, Tax US $16.66

Thought you might be on to something, but then I added an item worth $10USD and codes still not working.

        • For AUNY30 to work the product or cart total needs to be US$159 before tax and shipping.

          • @Clear: Yeah I tried with cart total of US$170 before tax and not including shipping and still got the error.

  • Thank you Clear! Description and instructions were very clear.

  • Anmite 1920x1280 10.5" portable monitor for US$34.78 (~A$56.21) delivered using coupon code OZAU03 or AUNY05 or AFAU03

There are only 6 left at this promotional price so no separate deal posted. Stacks with 15% Topcashback.

  • Do they actually work?
If you ever tried returning anything on aliexpress then you're in a for a surprise…

    • You're not late to the sale this time. Try it and see. If it doesn't work be sure to provide a link.

    • Yep. It's a whole ordeal. I still buy cheap items here and there but I wouldn't risk buying an expensive item again just to be screwed by Aliexpress if there is something wrong with it.

  • +2

It seems like most all the coupon codes listed above are already 'taken'.

However these worked for me: AUNY05 AUNY18 AUNY30 AUNY50 using the method described above to add an expensive item to your cart.

  • The pro tip has backfired, "This order has been closed because you've used the same coupon/code or purchased the same discounted item. Please order again without using AliExpress coupon/code or change another similar product to buy".

While these saved coupons can be applied, purchases are later cancelled and refunded. I have lost the best coupons.

    • I've never seen that happen before. Do you have multiple accounts by any chance? Or did you have orders pending payment? Triggered by going to PayPal checkout and closing.

      • Single account, routine steps, no errors, successful payment. Instead of the typical "order confirmed" email, I got order "closed". These coupons are still listed on my account, including the backfired one. I consequently repurchased the exact cancelled items without a coupon, no problem, shipped out already.

  • @Clear, do you have a strategy or tool for making sure you’ve applied all promo codes that you can? I get so overwhelmed trying to remember to add the codes that don’t auto apply.

    • Apologies if you’ve posted this elsewhere, I tried to find it.
  • Using Google pay in AliExpress will incur any fees? I have set USD in ALx.

    • +1

Same applies to Google Pay as PayPal. If your card charges currency conversion fees you'll still get the extra charge.

      • ING card with o% FX fee. Just wasn't sure if gpay is same as PayPal whereby you need to ensure it charges in USD and not aud.

        • +1

          Yep that'll still apply too.

  • +1

Only a couple of the low level ones are still useable it seems.

I spent 10 hours making a 600 USD cart only to find out I could only save 8 USD lol … still went ahead with the order.

  • The coupon codes should be restocked. Specifically AUS/AUNY codes. Try your luck.
