  • Any deals for someone who's membership expires 31st Jan?

    • +12

Have a look at the previous deal here people bought multiple as it gives you a redemption code. Code lasts 3 years so you can buy now and redeem when your membership expires.

      Existing OnePass account holder

      2. The steps to redeem the OnePass redemption code will differ based on your current membership status and type.

Follow up on this - what about for someone whose plan expires similar time (next week) but they do not have 4,000 flybuy points? Can, say, a 'friend' sign up to OnePass for the reduced fee but keep all things the same (i.e. same linked flybuys card, address, payment details but sign up with new email address)?

        • +12

It looks like it is just a redemption code so you can buy it with any flybuys account and redeem it on any onepass account

    • +1

      Try here…

      • +4

Thanks for that. I cancelled and they reduced renewal to $20.

        • +1

Me too! Thanks for that 😃

    • +10

Mine is ending on 31st Jan as well. I just tried today to cancel the membership as I didnt want it to renew for $40. I got popup to renew annual membership for $20.

      • +3

Thanks.. tried this myself and it worked…

      • +2

Did you forego 3 weeks, or did it renew from the previous ending date?

        • +3

No. Cancellation happens after last day. So mine will be renewed post 31st Jan. Auto debit is now set for 31st

      • +2

        Thanks, worked!

    Thanks

I have 20k flybuy points, any recommends on how to get the best value?

I've heard convert to velocity points then using those points on reward seats.

My usual monthly or so domestic flight is about $160-$180 return (not including check in baggage).

How many velocity points will that be for the reward seat which includes check in baggage.

    • +2

You will need to check how many velocity points you need for a rewards flight. It's based on the distance and time of the year

    • +3

      That's a hundred bucks

    • +1

As long as you redeem reward seats (not points plus pay), it's good value.
Check here, but it's changing in late January. For example Sydney to Melbourne is 5900 points at minimum

I have 20k flybuy points, any recommends on how to get the best value?

      chicken nappies.

  • T&C's:
"offer not available to current OnePass members"

    Also T&C's:
    1. Visit onepass.com.au/flybuys/redeem-onepass for more information on how to redeem your annual membership on your existing OnePass account.

    • So OnePass members with expired (non-current) subscriptions then?

      • It's valid for three years you good

  • Ugh, they should allow using velocity points for this. I've got auto conversion on, so every 2k points my flybuys convert to velocity.

Now to get this offer, I'll need to stop the auto conversion, collect 4k points, use them for this offer and then reenable the auto conversion.

    • +19

As a general rule you shouldn't have auto conversion on anyway.

You want to collect flybuys points until there is a promo such as 5% Bonus for Your Next Manual Transfer of Flybuys Points

      • +1

Thanks for the reminder! I had turned it on during a promo/comp for auto transfer then forgot.

  • +2

Do you still get Disney Plus?

  • +1

Onepass member gets 5x points in kmart etc. So If i spend $1000 in 1 year that will be even. Is there anything else I need to consider?

    • +2

      *$800

      • -4

will they take back the pts if i hypothetically refund a $800 mower ?

        • +20

you will keep your points if you hypothetically refund a $800 mower

if you figuratively refund it you will keep your points

if you literally return it they will take points back

  • +3

Thanks for this post, not just for the deal, but also it forced me to check when mine was up….3 days and I had autorenew on for $40!
Just cancelled it and a pop-up came up offering me another year for $20.

    • When is yours expired?

    • -2

it forced you to check how?

  • Can I buy and keep it until my current subscription expires and use it later. My current subscription expires only Nov 2025?

    • Your OnePass Redemption code will be valid for 3 years from redemption date.

    • +2

You don't need to, though. Mine expires in a couple of weeks, and I just bought and applied the code. Here's the result:

      OnePass Annual plan
      Automatic renewal in 21 days
      Next payment Amount: $0

      Offer discount: $40.00 off

      Date: 27 January 2025

      • Thanks champs

    • +1

I just used it to renew for another 12 months - expiry June 2025.

      • So now expiry will be June 2026?

  • what better else can we do with the flybuy reward pts>?

    • +3

I usually convert 2K blocks into $10 to use at Coles.

      • +1

same. and then i top up opal card (for sydney ppl) with that coles money

      • +1

        This is the way…

        • thats the most straightforward i suppose .. altho i could save it on velocity stuff(?) like someone else said above

      • +1

what do u mean convert 2k blocks,, or is it just the $10 redemption at checkout?

        • +1

          He means redeeming on checkout.

    • +1

I would use it at shell because i could otherwise get 3.5-4.5% off gift card at coles and kmart
      whereas only 2% at shell

and I do not fly virgin normally

  • +1

i cant stack 2 codes, the customer service says dont worry keep the second code until next year and you can redeem

  • -1

I have a credit card with $6k min spend that I want to churn but I don’t have any big purchases in mind to actually spend $6k. Could I buy $6k worth of eligible items, get my points from my credit card, return everything and close the credit card? It’s the Citi Qantas premier card.

    • -1

Buy these for credit card spend

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/887701

      • -4

Do not do that! That will come up as a cash advance and will charge a cash advance fee and the high interest rate.

Only buy GC from Coles/Woolworths as they reflect as supermarket purchases

        • Yeah no they do not come up as cash advances. I've bought $3k before and it shows up as Coles lol

  • +1

Stock up the code now or wait for the $12?

    • +1

Edit: Bought 1, not receiving the code straight away, still waiting.

    • spewin i missd that

  • Oh bummer. Cancelled and no $20 offer. See if i get an email. :(

  • -8

strongly recommending against this, onepass has been nothing but a PITA since joining they cannot get a single thing right.

    • Not sure of before but been good lately through a bunch of my orders from bunnings, kmart, and target. Save the time and effort for the trip and visit the store in person. All items seemed to arrive within a few days. Closer to Amazon's fast delivery but at 1/4 the annual fee. But since we pay for both it's $100/year for the delivery service lol

    • why the downvote?
I'm happy to write a blog on the experience.

  • +1

Anyone knows how to use the code on OnePass? After clicking into https://onepass.com.au/flybuys/redeem-onepass it takes to the renew page with a special annual price of $20 but I dont see where to put the code?

    • Same mine needs to reactivate to get to "manage membership" then "apply promo". And this makes it like it needs an active membership to apply.

    • Pick the $40 one, pick PayPal as payment method, then the promo code field will show up.

    • +1

FlyBuys "points + pay" charges $0.625 per 100 points in the Rewards Store.

In this case you know the value of the reward is $20, so you may be expecting $0.50 per 100 points.

Usually the rewards don't have an exact value, but you can assume they are over priced, especially when paying for points.

  • How long does it take to get the code?

    • +1

Like half to an hour for mine to arrive. Check your promotion tab.

  • Recently redeemed Flybuys dollars, now points in negative. Apparently there's a lag, you can still use the points at checkout even though they were redeemed moments ago.

    • Know issue, there is post on it.. points are updated overnight so possible to go negative.

      • Refund after redeem also possible to get into negative.

  • I renewed my membership for $40 last month. What are my options?

    • Time machine…

    • Call them
