Update 10:00am 29/02

In a last ditch effort to push out as many as we can before the $250 gift card promo ends tonight, we're killing deal and making a new one! Check it out here

Original Post

Squeezing one last deal in under the wire with MSI's steam gift card promo ending Feb 29th and a second deal to follow on straight afterward.

Like our last deal here that sold out very quickly, these ones are again click & collect / pick up only. Shipping is back on the menu!

We won't go point by point on how this deal compares to the competing deals here on ozbargain at the moment, you can see the link above to our previous deal to get the general idea. The TLDR; version is that we use higher end components across the board & include much more as standard (WIFI 6E / Bluetooth / Windows 11 / 80+ Gold Gen5 PSUs / longer warranty etc) without the need for additional paid upgrades. Yes there are cheaper deals out there if you looking at just the headline CPU/GPU pairing. If you prefer less of these inclusions we offer or happy with lower end components to reach an even lower price the myriad other deals are for you :) that's just not what we do here.

Warranty Details
How our RTB warranties work on all prebuilt and custom PCs is as follows;
- All RAM / SSD & Power Supplies are covered for a minimum of 5 years.
- All GPUs / Motherboards / CPUs & coolers covered for a minimum of 3 years.
- Everything else (basically just chassis & fans) is covered for a minimum of 2 years.
- Where the manufactures warranty is longer than the timeframes listed above, it's covered on a component level. eg, The PSU in this system has a 7 year warranty from MSI, so even after the first 5 years, it's covered for the next 2.

Any questions welcome, either in comments below or direct messages. We'll do our best to keep on top of them throughout the day. You can also check our previous here, some of them may have already been addressed in the original post or comments section.

Update re: Windows 11.

Looks despite the majority of previous customers who bought our last deal opting in to adding Windows 11 anyway, this time around it seems everyone is telling is they prefer it without. We've updated the deal accordingly. Windows 11 is now listed as an optional extra. Just purchase it along side the PC and we'll install and set it up for you so it's ready to go out of the box. Prices adjusted accordingly. Exactly the same deal just windows now optional.

Update re: Delivery

Shipping options have now been activated! Starting from just $29 and up (calculated at checkout based on cart volume, weight + postcode). Get in quick if you're keen on the first option above as you will need to take delivery of the PC prior to March 15th to redeem the Steam gift card promo. Failure to do so before the deadline will mean you've forfeit eligibility. Nothing we can do from our end if that's the case. We ship our PCs with Fedex/TNT so most major metro areas only take 2-3 days from dispatch here in Melbourne. Pick up still welcome. Delivery to metro Melbourne (usually) is next business day after collection from our end.

  • Metro Melbourne from $29
  • Metro Sydney / Adelaide / Canberra from $31
  • Metro Brisbane from $42
  • Metro Perth from $55
Update 10:30am 28/02

CPU upgrade option added, (7500F to 7800X3D for +$290) details above. Second of the two deals pulled for the time being so we can focus on the first of the two above. Will review and revisit at a later date.

    nothing with 4080 Super?

    • +2

Maybe next month, stock is pretty tight on 4080 Supers at the moment. Getting 'deal-worthy' pricing without cutting corners on other components is tricky.

  • -2

Why are we having Windows 11 home on a $3k+ PC?

    • +4

Most $3k+ PCs here are being bought for gaming?
Many ozbargainers aren't willing to pay retail for Home, let alone extra for Pro? Many people already have existing licenses connected to their MS account too

      • +3

Managed to convince the big wigs on this end to make Windows 11 an optional upgrade based on the feedback both here in the comments and a few emails. Deal amended accordingly!

    • +2

What 'pro' features were specifically after? It's mostly stuff the average home user / gamer will never use and would just cost more.

There's a comparison on the microsoft website

      https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/compare-windows-11-h…

    • Why do you need any other edition?

  • I assume there isn't much of a difference between Win 11 home and Pro. Correct me if I am wrong.

    • A bunch of business / corporate focused features the average user never touches…

Kiosk mode, bitlocker, group policies, hyper-v, dynamic provisioning, autopilot, azure active directory etc

      • Is Autopilot any good? Isn't it just an inbuilt AI on Windows. I am aware of Bitlocker and how it is used to encrypt files.

        • +2

I believe it's more of a feature for setting up and pre-configuring batches of new devices for deployment in a school or business environment so you don't have to go through and do them all one by one.

Co-polit is the AI functionality, that's available on Pro and Home editions.

If this deal is still available, wouldn't this PC be better other than $3100 PC in this post other the CPU for a $400 difference in cost? There is also a marginally better GPU. I assume the MSI deal would not apply to it however.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832653

Or if you want the same CPU but a better GPU, there's also this one that is $200 less in price than the $3100 PC. It is also more available if the code still works.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/829197

The Steam Card is a factor of course. I know nothing about PCs so you will have to correct me on this. But overall, the Nebula PCs seem like a better deal and more readily available to those outside of Keyborough.

    • +4

Just updated our deal to make Windows an optional and bring the pricing down accordingly.

Those are solid alternatives to consider but the money saved comes with all the cost saving trade offs of to consider.

      • Bronze rated PSU
      • Stock or basic air cooler instead of liquid (240mm in the first deal, 360mm in the second)
      • 5200MHz (CL38?) instead of 6000MHz (CL36) Expo DDR5
      • Gen3 slower SSDs, also only 1TB instead of 2TB if you're comparing the second deal we have up there.
      • No WiFi or BT as standard vs WiFi 6E & BT 5.3
      • Much cheaper case
      • No eligibility for the ~250USD steam gift card deal (when comparing the 7500F build)
    • The upgrades needed in that particular 4080S deal (MOBO wifi, RAM, SSD) to bring it similar to Evatech deal would be ~$300-350. That's not even taking into account the AIO in this build.

    • I recently bought this from BPCtech https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/sv-msi-4080-siren-vortex-…

Eligible for the Steam Card and has a 4080. Was on sale last month for $2999 but wasn't ready to pull the trigger. I upgraded the RAM and SSD. For a 4080 I think its a better deal.

  • +1

Just a shout-out to Evatech. Great communication from last deal regarding case and CPU cooler upgrades and throughout the build/delivery process. Computer runs like a dream! Happy playing CS at 400fps lol

    • ❤️

  • Any option to upgrade the 7500F bundle with a 4070 Ti Super?

    • +1

Unfortunately not this time around and even if it was, that would make them ineligible for the $250USD steam card promo as 'Super' series GPUs are not on the list for that particular deal.

  • +2

Just feel like this is a bit pricey.

    TechFast can do a 14900K, with a 360 AIO too and a 4080 SUPER for $18 more: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832093

    I mean let's compare:

    Evatech:
    AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core 16 Thread CPU
Montech Sky Two Black Mid Tower ATX Chassis Chassis
    MSI Pro B650M-A WIFI Motherboard (w/ WiFi 6E / BT 5.3 / 2.5G LAN)
MSI MAG CoreLiquid M360 ARGB 360mm Liquid Cooler
    MSI MPG 750GL 80+ Gold PCIe G5 750W ATX 3.0 Power Supply
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super Ventus 3X 16G OC
    Corsair Vengeance Expo 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz C36 Black DDR5
    Lexar 2TB NQ790 NVMe M.2 Gen4 (up to 7000MB/s)
Windows 11 Home Edition (optional / +$169. See upgrade options below)

    TechFast:
    Intel Core i9-14900KF processor
RTX 4080 Super 16GB graphics (PNY Verto Triple Fan)
    MSI Pro Z790-P WiFi motherboard
    32GB 5200MHZ DDR5 RAM (Adata in use)
    1TB Gen4 NVME (Legend 800)
850W Gold PSU (MSI PCIE5 in use)
    360mm Liquid Cooler (MSI)
MSI MAG Forge 320R Airflow case

CPU is debatable, 7800X3D is better in gaming, but as an overall CPU, the 14900KF smokes the 7800X3D in productivity and general computing. Admittedly the 7800X3D is more efficient, but you're probably getting more performance per dollar with the 14900KF overall.

RAM speed is sort of whatever, unless you're getting an 8000+ MT/s kit, you're not going to gain a lot of performance from 5200 to 6000 MT/s, not that Zen4 can really go faster than 7000 MT/s anyways. Sure, with Techfast it's lower, but with a manual OC you will probably get 5600 MT/s and get similar performance to a 6000 MT/s kit anyway.

1TB SSD vs 2TB, yes, Evatech is better here, probably a faster drive too, only area where I can really give Evatech points.

PSU is sort of a wash, but you are getting 100W more with Techfast, I can't comment on either PSU's quality, but I can assume they're about the same if they're both MSI branded.

GPU is what matters here the most and you're getting 15-18% more performance with the Techfast build by moving from a 4070 Ti SUPER to a 4080 SUPER.

Honestly, the Techfast build is a no brainer, slap a better SSD in it down the road and call it a day for a couple hundred more. Sorry Evatech.

    • -1

2tb as a main drive is silly anyway. Keep a smaller OS drive and a larger storage drive. So 1tb makes more sense. Speak to TF they may actually allow for a second SSD to be installed.

      • Does that benefit apart from potentially having a larger 2nd storage drive available for games? Like does separating OS onto one drive and having games in a second drive do anything different

        • -1

Prevents filling an os drive (more important if dramless) and continuously writing data on the main drive.
The more data you write onto your drive the more susceptible it is to corruption and drive failure. It's just good practice to have a separate drive.
Also a 360mm liquid cooler is just the silliest thing for the 7800x3d.. it's not even that high of a TDP CPU.

    • Aside from the RAM and SSD speeds plus double the storage capacity you mentioned already, they want to charge you $249 extra for a warranty period we consider the bare minimum (3 years) and exceed. They also seem to have higher shipping costs on average and ship by regular AusPost parcel service instead of our Fedex express courier service.

Not to mention the more premium brands in use (Corsair RAM vs Adata / MSI GPU vs PNY) not that brand name really equates to performance at all, but it does factor in to the pricing.

By no means are we saying the Techfast deal is not better in terms of raw GPU performance but our slightly faster CPU and RAM combo does narrow the gap in a lot of scenarios / games. You're not wrong to go with the Techfast deal if gaming FPS your primary concern and we wouldn't blame you if it is!

Our offering is just a little more premium across the board, both in terms of components, warranty, after sales service, support and delivery. When it's all tallied up and compared apples to apples, we'd hope our offering was compelling to some, maybe many but admittedly not all and that's ok :)

We get being the 'premium' alternative in the middle of a oz-bargain prebuilt pc price war is going to be an up hill battle and we'll probably on ever serve a relatively small niche of the community here, but we're here to do so none the less 😅

      • I'd disagree that you are more premium than the techfast deal.
Their mobo is far superior. The CPU on their end is higher end if going by cost wise and versatility of CPU. Their GPU is higher tiered.
Their PSU is also graded higher
That leaves the Ram which is one of the rarest things to fail in a PC .
So no I don't think anyone would consider your PC more premium.
The only thing you have is 3 year warranty.

        • Up to 5 years on the RAM, SSD, PSU all at no extra cost. Plus we cover the manufacturers per component warranty period thereafter, so that's 7 on the PSU.

CPU is more expensive and GPU is a higher tier, will definitely concede both those points. Far superior on the motherboard is a bit of a stretch in our opinion though, it's a $10 difference on PCPartPicker at the moment and aside from the form factor and socket, it's quiet similar.

On the RAM front, sure not every game / task will be severely impacted by slower RAM but there's a bunch that will take a measurable hit. The price difference between these budget DDR5 kits and a solid 6000MHz CL36 variant in context of the overall system price is really not all that much. Likewise with the faster SSDs.

As for the failure rates, in our experience RAM is actually one of the more common components to fail. Not that it's a lot, but everything else that used to be quiet notoriously bad with failure rates has really improved a lot in the last 4-5 years and it's all sort of leveled out. #1 for us still GPUs, but after that SSDs, Coolers, RAM & PSUs are all a close second. It's really just CPUs that meaningfully stand apart from the rest in terms of their lower failure rates.

Oh and by premium we didn't mean to equate the two PCs from a performance tier perspective, just our ethos in more 'well rounded' component selection overall and long term customer service / warranty.

Anyway, not trying be argumentative when it seems we're just making two different points all together ❤️ If you're defining premium from a 'performance tier' perspective, sure, you're not wrong!

          • +1

@evatech: I felt that you were trying to prove your system somewhat superior with your play on the premium words. To me that felt misleading. I try to look at things as objectively as I can.
A Z series mobo is equivalent to a X series for AMD
It's designed to be the more 'premium' end of the mobo scale.
In all honesty I just think calling on companies to be as transparent as possible is only fair and not to smoke screen with the illusion of this premium veil.
I have no problems you contesting where appropriate I just felt that that was a bit of a stretch..
I normally don't defend techfast as they are not transparent with their build.. but that i9 build is the direct opposite of what they previously have done.. they used quality parts and were transparent.
Anyway I didn't neg initially but the comment above made me neg as I felt you were clutching at straws and ended up with a misleading comment. Otherwise I would have remained neutral.

            • +1

@maverickjohn: Appreciate the feedback. Let's change gears, how's our first of the two deals stack up? I get the sense perhaps we should have posted these separately and the Luke warm reception to the second has really overshadowed the first.

              • @evatech: Second deal pulled, will revisit at a later date. Probably too late to grab the real traction needed to get much attention but just under 48 hours to make use of that $250 USD steam gift card promo before it expires!

Also as per @Caddin's request below we've decided to allow CPU upgrades for those keen on the first build, but with a 7800X3D instead.

  • Not possible to get a 7800x3d with the first deal then? (i know u said about upgrades but its a big deal for high fps comp titles) I like the look of it otherwise… been waiting to see a 7800x3d come up with msi steam offer.
