Given it uses CR123A/16340 (17 mm diameter), it might be bulkier. Also no red torchlight in that one. Also I'd trust the quality of Silva more, but I'm no expert.
Does anyone with knowledge of the headlamp market and/or the above brand able to shed some light towards the product's sale pricing as well as how it'd compare to other common purchase points like AliExpress and Bunnings?
EDIT: When I started writing this, there weren't any posts.Silva is a well-known, long-standing and reputable brand. You can find some decent kit (generally clones, but you can get good clones) on AliExpress, but it's sometimes a game of chance (you'll sometimes get a seller that sells decent products, builds up a reputation, then drops quality).
It really depends on your use case. For around home or car-camping, Bunnings is fine. If you need something fully waterproof, lightweight and ultra-reliable, stick to outdoor brands.
Good question. nitecore nu25 is about au$40 as well and rated similarly. Not sure why I'd get this over the Nitecore models given it spec'ed similarly but the nitecore is a bit lighter. I tried finding some info on this Silva Explore 4RC briefly and couldn't work out if it had USB-C or not, so gave up and skipped the deal.
By the looks of the included cable, micro USB: https://www.valhallatactical.com.au/product/silva-explore-4r…
You lost me at micro USB. I have hopefully bought my last mini, micro, custom usb item.
Nitecore is relatively new chinese brand focused on generic consumer electronics. Silva is almost 100 years old swedish manufacturer of orienteering and running gear, including military supplies. They may have similar product, but it is totally different market. Although most population will not perceive any difference, I don't think it is fair comparison…
@askvictor That's vaguely how I perceptualized it. Silva's features being more refined(assumingly), expecting it to not have any quirks with the hardware, fitting and usage. I'd be using mine for car camping, night runs and car/PC fixes.
However, I normally just have my phone on me for the runs and flick the torch on when I get to areas with zero ground lighting.@DONMAI The nitecore nu25 seems to be a bit closer to 60(Unless I've missed a sale, I scrolled over 20 or so results on the google shopping tab and did a quick search on Ali to get a price association), which would put it more in range of the "Silva Trail Runner Free H 400" for $69. Though, if I was to get my budget up to that marker, I'd begin looking at Silva's high-end pieces, assuming that the RRP prices on the associated deals weren't BS.
Appreciate the responses from the two of you.
Aliexpress has many sellers with nitecore nu25 for about $40 and "2024 version" for about $45. (Couldn't post link without it getting picked up as spam). The Ali sales that 'clear' often post gives about 10-15% off which cancels out the GST and some.
Thanks got 4RC!
I bought this one to use when I work on a computer, car or motorcycle.
It has TWO included removable 18650 batteries (no brand) and they can be charged directly on the headlamp, $14 is a steal!
https://www.temu.com/goods.html?_bg_fs=1&goods_id=6010995237…18650 on your head is too heavy imho.
Integrated 700mah battery in this light.
The Sofirn HS10 is a better option imho, and cheaper. 1100 lm, 90 CRI and USB C charging. It's often discount down to ~$25 but is currently $36.43 with free del.
