What's that got to do with this deal?

      • +1

        IYKYK

        • Ah yep, now I see. Useful if you can't put $6k through the CC in the usual ways without surcharges.

So we apply for the Amplify card and then list something on eBay?

Edit: I get it now, epic hack 😦

    • +1

Make new account list something for $6000 then buy with another account.

      • +2

        Shhhh, its a trade secret

  • Will it qualify for 20k extra points offer.
    $214(139+75) to get 110k(or 90k) points.
Is it good or any better value card available?

  • The $75 Annual Qantas Rewards Program Fee seems to be a recent thing. I don't remember getting hit by this for St George before?

    • It use to be $50. St George and Westpac always had it.

There were a few banks that waived it but almost all banks charge a fee for the QF program

      • Does the bank charge us 75$ even if we have a qantas account?

        • It's not related to having a Qantas FF account, it's for the privilege of earning Qantas points through a credit card. Something you can't avoid these days, as transferring normal CC reward points to Qantas FF is very rare (if any still support it!).

They brought that in (along with the increased annual fee) on 20/07/23

      • Can't wait for the upcoming processing fee, electronic delivery fee and some other bs we thought we would charge you for fee.

      • Thanks, thought so

  • How easy to deal with St George bank with credit card application? In my experience, NAB was super easy & ANZ was tough to get approved.

  • Anybody tried getting a pro-rata refund of the annual fee on these cards once the QFF points have come through?

  • Damn just closed an Amplify Rewards with St. George. Since when do these clash with the Qantas frequent flyer points cards?

  • Applied 18 February 2024 - Sunday

    Lets see how it goes…

    • Any progress? Last time i used St George my card details got hackzored like 5 times.

      • No, this is the worst application process ever. Called up 3 times, each time they said it will be finalised on the day. I've verified my ID 3 times now and re-uploaded the docs 3x.

        • Dang! I am reconsidering if I should apply for this one. I tried to open an account online to get the discounted annual fee, but it failed a few times and when I thought it was finally going I got a message saying they failed to verify my ID and asked me to visit a branch 🤦‍♂️

          • +3

            @mauza: Finally approved… What a headache

            • @Koipanda: Turned out to be the easiest card application I ever had (and I had cards from all banks in the last 3 ~ 4 years). They said I had to confirm my ID at the branch to open the bank account because I have multiple family names, but once that was sorted and I applied online for the credit card, got approved instantly.

            • @Koipanda: Mate same boat here, I've uploaded my payslips 3x now - if they ask me to do it one more time I'm going to crack it. We're going around in an endless loop and last time I called customer service it took about an hour to get through.

              Worst application process I've experienced.

  • Hi applied last night for the Signature CC as an existing St George customer and instantly got rejected. I'd say my wife and I are high income earners, we recently bought a house and have sort of largeish mortgage. We're currently still renting though as we're renovating the house. I rang up today to the applications hotline and they basically said to me that I didn't meet the serviceability limit even though after all our living expenses and mortgage repayments, we'd have about 45% of our after tax salary left over. I was truly surprised and they told me I could not seek an further review as if the application calculator says you can't service the loan, there's no way to overturn it. This was highly disappointing as I need a CC to pay for my upcoming renovation purchases.

    Anyone experience the same thing?

    • Yep experienced the same thing late 2022, applied a year later with no change in my financial circumstances (besides the tiny chips away from the mortgage) and got approved. Seems bizarre - if computer says no it's a no

  • Cheers, couldn't find a better QFF bonus offer ($214 for 90K points) so signed up Wed 27 March. Was a simple process opening a new account and applying for the card as new customer. Was conditionally approved and haven't been asked to go into the branch yet - will see how it goes.

    • The best recent offer was Qantas AmEx Ultimate: 120,000 or 100,000 Qantas Points (with $3000 Spend in 3 Months), $450 Travel Credit, $450 Annual Fee and pro-rata of the annual fee.

The 120,000 bonus points offer was for a limited period in February, otherwise the standard is 100,000 (remember to share the love with a random OzBargain referral).

      • Interesting, pro-rata fee refunds can be quite hit or miss though. Not too keen on paying $450 and being stuck with the AMEX travel credit which I've found quite useless previously (limited flights priced above market value).

        • Fortunately this one seems to be part of their own change of card type process, rather than something that is requested and subject to their discretion.

  • Does anyone know whether the Amplify card can be used digitally before receiving the physical card?

    • Not in my experience. I had to get the card first, then activate it then it was available to add from the app (and manually as i had the card).

  • I think St George has blacklisted me.

Last year they had declined my application for this card. So I waited out for 6 months and reapplied last week.
After 4 days, no message from them, so I called up and asked for the status of my application. They said sorry it didn't get approved - hrm, why they didn't let me know earlier !!!

I then applied for the ANZ Black FF card (min $15K) and got the approval next day. I'm planned to spend more than the requirement with this card as there will be multiple big purchases coming next few months.

St George denied me for a $6K limit card but I got approved for a $15K limit card with ANZ.

  • Will I get points if I pay for a Disney cruise with this?

  • Does anyone know when statements are issued for this account? Is it the monthly anniversary of the date the card was approved? Then, how long does it take for the QFF points to hit the account? Looks like i need the points to hit by 31/5 to get the extra 20,000 points from QFF so running out of time.
